Merry Christmas!!  And a very happy New Year!

Not football related, but I know there are a couple Cap guys that read this board and maybe not hoops...Dixie Jeffers is retiring mid-season effective 12/31.  Any old school OAC'ers know her, but for those that don't she is Cap's legendary women's hoops coach.  Check out the release on the D3hoops main page, but the short version is 1 of 13 men's or women's HC with over 700 wins.  She won back-to-back national titles and went to the final 4 four times in five years in the 90's.  Best wishes to her on her retirement.

An early Happy New Year to my D3 friends.

I know I hoped for better at the beginning of this year, and that hope lasted a whole six days!  But maybe D3 can remain untarnished in 2022.

Cheers!  Mom!

I know you can't look too much into anything you read on social media,  but lots of players making decisions recently.  A couple of starters coming back with the extra covid year,  some 2nd string guys staying and a couple of key backups transferring.  With the free transfer waiver right now,  it'll be interesting to see who leaves and who stays the Purple Raiders for next year.

To Pat Coleman and staff

Thank you for another great year.  Year after year you guys bring us the best coverage in Dlll football. You keep us informed on what's happening. You give us a forum where we can exchange ideas (or just have fun). You have a team of very knowledgeable personnel who have their hand on the pulse of the Dlll landscape. This, to me, is what a site of this type should be.

On a personal note, I have been dealing with some health issues this year. This site has certainly helped me make it through my battles. I look forward every day to seeing what's up in our little world.
Are the "purple powers" still on the top of the heap?
Why is the WIAC the best conference in the land?
Who are these teams we seldom hear about that are beating some of "the big guys"?
Can some of the schools really have such "big time" players?

You seemingly cover the most important aspects of Dlll football. And you're damn good at it!

So, I'll stop rambling and just wish you a very prosperous 2022 - for your families and for this sport we love so much.

                  HAPPY NEW YEAR

That Defiance game is going to be ugly.

Scrimmage vs W&J will be more competitive.

scrimmaging the JV squad would give the Raiders 1's a better test.  Horribly scheduled game that will crush Mount's SOS in '22.  Hopefully UWW or NCC drops a regular season game, or Mount will be on the road for the semis....well, maybe.

I really like the change in Mount Union's schedule. Essentially, the playoffs begin with the JCU and BW games. Playing two traditionally good football teams with a lot of emotion (especially among the alumni), will prepare the Purples for those final two games of the playoffs.

Coach Fred retired from UMHB.

Who gets the Subaru?

I've seen on Twitter that at least two QBs have entered the transfer portal from Mount Union (Todd Simonds-now at Brockport and Zach Herrera-just yesterday).

Cause for concern?

I think I remember another younger QB (Noah Beaudrie) getting some playing time this season, so it might just be a sign of the times with guys wanting to get playing time elsewhere.
