it's not about size.  NC had the best OL in the country the past two years and he was 5-11 250-260.

I think where Mount is lacking is institutionally.  Mount has typically been ahead of the curve, or at least along side in the D3FB world.  But they have fallen behind in the Strength & Conditioning/Development world. I can't believe that there is not a full-time S&C director and at least one coach under them for the Athletic Dept. I don't think that it's that Mount is not getting the guys, but the development needs to take a step up.

Agree, they need the S&C coach along with a OC and HC, IMHO ::)

I had no idea. This is shocking to me.  As a father of two sons who are both strength and conditioning coaches, I know the field is under-funded and under staffed.  But I had no idea a school of Mount's stature wouldn't have a full-time S&C Director.  Kind of scary what they accomplish without one. But their athletes deserve to have the university support them through a great Strength and Conditioning program.

is Saturday against Mount the biggest game in the past 30-40 years for BW?  the Raiders better be ready from the kick, as VK loved to say "poise"

Dr. Acula

Looking at the team stats something stood out to me.  BW is 2nd worst in the OAC with 14 INT thrown.  They're also 2nd worst with their 13 fumbles (although they only lost 4 of them).  Only ONU is worse in either.  To their credit BW made a couple huge throws to win at Berg last week, but all evidence points to stopping the run being a recipe for a long day for the Jackets.  BW usually punches above their weight against Mount, but having seen them 2-3 times so far this I don't think that their offense has the horses to keep it close barring Mount turnovers or a big play in special teams.

I expect Murray right, Murray left and Murray up the middle over and over. With play action and a couple gadgets to try and hit a big one or two plays on the Mount defense.  Making the game shorter and keeping the ball away from Plunk and Co will be key for BW

The regional rankings show mount as bold, indicating a clinched playoff berth. I thought If they lose to BW it's a three way tie 8-1 for BW, JCU and Mount in conference record. The three way tie breaker per the last d3fb podcast is that the conference would vote on who gets the bid.

Am I missing something? Did UMU clinch on Saturday?

I don't think Mount has clinched anything.  Maybe the D3fb guys were preoccupied with Region 3 openly cheating.  Mount needs to win on Saturday

So BW gets the pleasure of being both a team Mount despises and a team Mount has to beat.  That doesn't bode well.  Me thinks BW can be glad Mount doesn't take the approach some other schools take when it comes to embarrassing outmanned opponents.

Good catch. We jumped the gun there.

From the Baldwin-Wallace Athletics web page for football at https://www.bwyellowjackets.com/sports/fball/2022-23/releases/mtupreview:

Mount Union Head Coach Geoff Dart:
Dart is in his third season at Mount Union and has a career record of 26-1 and an OAC record of  2-1.  He is 0-1 against Baldwin Wallace.

A little help with editing/proof reading is needed.

perhaps BW is taking their cancellation due to "covid protocols" in the spring of 2020 as a non-loss, so basically a win against Mount.  I can see how a program that loves 6-4 seasons could use that rationale

Just an added head scratcher ... Despite the mystery OAC loss to B-W in conference play .... who were the 24 non-OAC wins?  I bet that the B-W record keeping shows that UMU had multiple wins over UMHB, UW-W, SJU, UST, YSU, OSU, Alabama, and the Cleveland Browns.

Speaking of UST...
I see that Saint Glenn has a one loss, 23-ranked, Tommies team that could finally beat Mount Union in the Stagg Bowl.

Actually according to Massey Ratings Mount Union is favored to win that matchup 60% win probability https://masseyratings.com/game.php?s0=384031&oid0=5199&h=0&s1=384031&oid1=6926

STU is really overrated IMO. They are a D1 non scholarship school that mostly plays other non scholarship schools, and some d2s.

Actually after looking at their schedule I'm kind of annoyed at the FCS top 25 voters for not doing their homework. 2 of STUs wins are against d2 schools! So they are 6-1 in their own division. Also their one loss was to a team that is now 3-6.

We'd never have that kind of oversight in the d3fb.com poll!

Update: it was the coaches poll so that ranking makes a little more sense now

Lol that is the most BW thing I have ever heard of. Doubt they'll be getting their first actual win today

To paraphrase something that I saw on ESPN "College Game Day" today:
"As a rule, I do not talk to Baldwin-Wallace folk, but if forced to, I instruct them to super-size my fries."

To paraphrase something that I once read on this board:
Q:  How do you get a Baldwin-Wallace graduate off your front porch"
A:  Pay for the pizza.

Something that I may or may not have shared before:
When assigned to Langley AFB, VA, from 1999 to 2002, my dental services were performed by, God bless them, the "Purple Team."  That meant they all wore a beautiful shade of purple scrubs.
My dentist, as it turned out was a Baldwin-Wallace graduate, and if I understood or recall correctly, had been a part of the Yellowjacket football team.
My annual check-up, after yet another Mount Union National Championship during that tour, he comes into the examination room after the Dental Technician had finished the cleaning.  He out-ranked me by a grade, so I says, "Colonel, I bet that it kills you to don that purple garb every day."
He said nothing, and gave instructions to the dental tech, and did his examination, barking details of what he was seeing with whatever tooth.  At the end, they sat me up and he removed his gloves.  Before leaving the exam room, he turns to me and says, "Yeah ... Yes it does."  I laughed, and he smiled.  I want to say that (Colonel) Barrett was his name.  Or, was Barrett my orthopedic surgeon who was a USAFA graduate?  Not important that I exactly recall.  Med records are buried somewhere upstairs.
