Legitimately shocked Mount didn't call a RB screen on the Hail Mary play. Seems like it's the only play on the call sheet.

Hate to say it, but this staff, this team, and Plunk ain't it. Long for the days of a QB who can sling it.

Dummy question here, but why didn't Mount return the kick? I feel like they easily would've gotten to the 40-45 or more.

Assuming to save time on the clock?

Hilarious the "taking a photo in the endzone" penalty cost the flaming pile. BW gonna BW.

How much did it, though? Mount started that drive at the 26. A fair catch on a kick-off starts them at the 25. Given the way the last play played out, would the extra yard have mattered?

That was my thought... with the way we threw the ball in the 2nd half, I'd rather take my chance on a big special teams play.

The camera work was as bad as Mounts play calling. However, the Raiders Twitter has an impressive view

I think the call going out for the kickoff was with the penalty that put BW back they would get decent field position as well as save clock for whatever offensive plays they could accomplish. You could run that  Hail Mary play 100 times and never come close to what happen there. Totally craziness! Hopefully the offense shows something next week or it will be a shortened season for sure. Other than the obvious win the best part of what happen is that it sent the fear of a loss right through the players coming into the playoffs. Hopefully it shocked them like a defibrillator!

When Ruby gets piled on all I could think was it's Ted Ginn Jr moment! Grrrrr, hopefully he's ok

Watching Mount Union I've seen some of the craziest finishes to football games at any level I've watched.

1) An intercepted-for-a-TD lateral during UMHBs kickoff return attempt in the last seconds of the 2012 semi-finals
2) Lou Berry's Strip Sack TD against JCU (The Immaculate Prevention)
3) Today's wild deflected Hail Mary TD

Kehres magic is real lol.

Anyway I'm always optimistic so what's giving me hope now is that the 2011 team also needed some late game heroics to just get by a pretty good BW team and that team lost a pretty close Stagg Bowl. Hopefully today's near loss is able to get this team to find a different level for the playoffs.

If I was a totally neutral observer I'd probably say this Mount Team is similar to last year's if not a little down judging by their last two games. Could certainly get tested in round 2 and struggle to get through the quarterfinals like last year.

This is also the second game in a row where a late game Mount collapse let their opponent back in it. Letting BW score all of their points in the 4th quarter is pretty bad.

In other Mount Union news...unfortunately Nate Kmic's career rushing record for all of NCAA was broken by YSU's Jaleel McLaughlin today.

To be fair... Kmic had a bit of an advantage getting to play in 15 games every year lol

McLaughlin got an extra Covid year, give Kmic an extra 7 games his Jr season and he'd have gone over 9k

WRMU......who was it that beat us at home in the playoffs with a Hail Mary? I think they broke one of our winning streaks. I remember Shorty Jones went in because our AA Safety got hurt. It was a bomb in the middle of the end zone. Who was that? Not Rowan.
Yesterday confirmed my suspicion about BW football....they are cursed by God.

I am very proud to see the Raiders go 10-0. Wow. Very few players get to play on an undefeated OAC Champion. Great job Purple Raiders.
Congratulations to Coach Dartt, very few head coaches accomplish undefeated seasons. 10-0. Wow.

{We 'alumni' get to brag our asses off to our OAC brethren around the courthouse for another year.}

I think it was UMHB

It was UMHB and I relived it yeaterday. The UMHB game I was in Kuwait at Camp Wolverine and I was on live stats - this is before livestream was a thing kids. I kept hitting refresh and getting nothing....and then OOF. I saw the score update and could not believe it. Yesterday - same thing, minus Kuwait and Camp Wolverine. I was sitting in my car in the driveway and decided to check the score to see the final (I knew BW took the lead but wanted to see it go final and move on). I swear to god - 22 seconds in live stat time lasts a week and a half.

BTW the great ending games would not be complete w/out Osh Kosh a few years back. Great second half. I would still like to rewatch that game and the UMHB lateral game if anyone knows where to find it. I have seen highlights but not the full game.

The defense was supposed to be a senior-laden rock for this Mount team, but unfortunately the Raiders have been snake bit by defensive injuries.  The DL is missing 4 of the top 6 (Brown, Beers, Lilja have been out & Franklin limped off with a knee), one of the two starting LB (Detellem) has been out.  Missing 5 of your top 8-10 guys in the front seven is a recipe for fatigue and inexperience to creep in during the 4th.

The Mount offense can not have three-and-outs against lesser opponents while nursing a large lead.  The draw-draw-underneath pass play calling will end this season during Thanksgiving weekend, and it won't be against the future National Champ like in '19.  Mount's offense is going to need to open it up in the playoffs and the past few seasons of play-calling and lack of leadership does not give this Raider a lot of hope.

hsbsballcoach7

I feel that every year I get older I enjoy championships of any kind more often (OAC or others) because you never know when the run will come to an end. Hopefully we learn from the mistakes, get healthy and improve from here. Go Raiders!

Dan...you seem to have your panties in a bunch. They just went 10-0.
Lack of leadership? Guys got hurt, that's part of the game. It's leadership got them through losing key players.
Who the hell are you to know anyway?

D3fanboy

leadership did not get them through, the clock ran out on JCU and luckily the ball bounced off the Mount transfer's head against BW.  I am not criticizing the players, they obviously did not give up and played until the final whistle.  But the kids only play the plays that are called, schemes that are practiced.

if you think that Mount's program is headed in the right direction, then we'll have to agree to disagree

MUCRaker

Well, If you can't be Good, the next best thing is to be Lucky!!  Congratulations Mount, you need to get healthy and you need to make some changes!
