Congratulations to Mt- great first round game.
I only caught the first quarter- Ruby is so smooth. Mt really produces stud receivers.

I was a bit surprised the Seagulls didn't stick w the ground game in what I saw. Every time they tried to pass they put themselves behind the sticks, giving Mt. the ball back.

Very solid day for the Purple Raiders. Get response from the lackluster game last week.

It felt like the entire D3 world was hoping  for or even expecting another questionable performance and today was anything but.

The bracket sets up well. Keep improving and (hopefully) preparing for the Semis and The Stagg.

And even though I thoroughly respect UWW and miss the days of those Stagg Bowl battles, this Purple Raider fan will never not like seeing them bounced.

Questions, we have questions.

1)  Does Wayne Ruby get drafted?

2)  Why isn't Mark Miller a broadcaster in the major leagues?

3)  (Non-football) How did Something come from Nothing?

I went to the game and the wind was really strong throughout the game. Brandon Plunk was very accurate in throwing the ball. He was pinpoint in his placement despite the weather.
When he throws like that Mount can beat anybody.

I need help!! In the Salisbury game there was a false start on Mount sometime in second quarter I think.  Were they setting up to run the triple option??  Seems like one of the motion players stepped toward the line of scrimmage before the snap. The play was stopped and the team abandoned the idea before my old eyes could process the whole mess.  It would have made for interesting viewing for the game tapes.
Go Raiders!!

When he throws and is willing to run with a purpose. His runs opened up the gaps and passing lanes IMO.

Utica will come in confident as underdogs and planning to make the upset. Hopefully the offense and defense confine to improve and get healthy.

BTW, I've heard Mark Miller announce local HS games and he's very insightful, knowledgeable and I wish he would call more games.

I watched most of the game.  I did hop over to the Utica game to watch the 4th qtr since it was a close game.  Quick thoughts:

That game went as well as it could IMO.  As always (and this was mentioned on the NJAC board) the option teams are in trouble when they play a top tier team.  Too much speed, too disciplined and too sure tackling to give up a lot of points.  That being said, 65 yds of offense and a shutout was an outstanding effort from the D.

As purple mentioned Plunk was incredibly accurate throwing in the windy conditions.  I figured once they got up a few scores it'd be ground attack, but they stuck with the normal offense and Plunk put up great numbers in less than ideal weather.  I agree with hsbsballcoach that even just showing the threat of Plunk running it a few times loosens things up.  He doesn't need to be Taurice Scott or even Kevin Burke.  Just be Neal Seaman and run enough to move the chains and give them something to think about.

I liked that they were able to keep Parker's carries down this week.  If they can shift some carries to Echeverry to help keep Parker fresh that's a win.  They need Parker in the pass game as much as the run game so anything to keep him from being run down is a positive to me.  I thought Echeverry looked pretty good.

I liked seeing the freshman Warner get a chance to knock through a 39 yarder.  It looks like he's got a good leg so I'm all for getting him some playoff reps.

After watching the Utica 4th qtr I'm not sure what to expect.  It was low scoring (17-10) and neither team looked great.  In Utica's defense, they were up and trying to run clock so I didn't expect to see the Vermeil Rams offense.  They executed well in the game situation.  Susquehanna was trying to drive for the tying score late, but the QB threw one deep under pressure and left it short for an easy INT.  I think a rematch with DelVal is all but a certainty.

Rematch?

Not this year.  Just meant they've played DelVal in the past.

If the Raiders win Saturday, they will play the Randolph-Macon - Delaware Valley winner in Alliance for the quarter finals. :)
