Yes, that's what happens when almost all of your tough playoff games are at home -- just look at the number there, 102 games at home, 66 on the road.

if only the NCAA would have been more black and white on SOS in the past and sent Mount on the road, maybe Mount wouldn't have dominated the division for 30 years

maybe you could enlighten us with the years Mount should have been on the road in the playoffs, but try not to say NCC in '21

Pat Coleman

I think, as usual, you're missing the point.

My point was to say that this stat that occasionally gets bandied about that says "we're better on the road" is a false construct based on the fact that the NCAA routinely grants Mount Union four extra home games per year. It stands to reason they might lose more home games if they are playing their toughest opponents every year at home.

I'd say that Mount routinely earns four extra home games per year rather than a gift from the NCAA, but I'm sure that I'm missing the point

OK then -- regardless of how one gets the extra home games, playing 54.5% more home games, including the annual games against the toughest teams on the schedule, will probably result in more home losses.

Well Mount certainly earned their home losses in each of the last 2 years in the playoffs.

No offense but....really? This has to be sarcasm - right? I was at an Otterbein game at Mount a few years back. I was sitting with the Otter people because my friends family was there to watch his nephew (DB for OTT). His dad (sitting way up top) yells "he's holding" after every single play. Every one. He comes down at half and says "that's why they win all the time, they're holding". I told him he was a dumb@$$. Mount had not won 100 straight OAC games because every single official in every single game had colluded and overlooked holding. I thought that was the dumbest thing I had heard....until

Anyway - he had some other nuggets in the pregame. He broke out the "Mount hasn't seen a team like this before". I think he was under the influence of something - he said "we'll see what they do when Speedy gets going". Speedy was the nickname of OTT RB. It was 50-3 at halftime (I think) and "Speedy" had negative rushing yards. I enjoyed asking him when exactly Speedy planned on getting going. Ah what fun.

of course it was sarcasm.

your last nugget sounds a lot like:

Quote"Not in a cocky way, but I have not seen a team as physical as us, so I hope that carries over to this weekend," said Aggies coach Duke Greco. "I think we present some challenges to them in terms of physicality and athleticism that maybe they haven't seen yet, either. It'll be a great game."

If the description of their d-line is accurate those comments could be true . In years past a good pass rush is pretty much the only thing that slowed down the mount offense. I hope del valley tests the raiders with a strong rush

Ashland's HC Lee Owens announced his retirement today, Mount really needs to clean up in Ohio recruiting this year

I watched the DV- RM game, and their D-Line is for real.  The are big, fast athletic.  Mount will need to change up cadence, and game speed to off set their ability.  One glaring flaw (in my opinion) out side of their pension for penalties, they do not cover the back out of the back field well at all.  Multiple times RM had an RB uncovered on the sideline and would catch run 5-7 yards untouched.  D parker could go for 100 receiving yards tomorrow.

that plus the extra 100 penalty yards seem to be problems when facing Mount.  Mount by a billion, as long as the Raiders do not let the foot off the gas and get themselves in trouble again

[A late] Thank you to Pat, K&J Dad and D3fanboy for your responses regarding my SoS question.  +K all!

A couple of interesting notes: the DV press coverage wrote that Plunk isn't much of a running threat,  so hopefully the team thinks that as well. I think he could be dangerous running the ball opportunistically. Also, Mount now has 3 freshmen and a sophomore in the 2 deep at DE. This is a talented group who has been gaining experience. Hopefully they're ready to make some plays tomorrow!!
