Am I the only one who is concerned about Mount's play last Saturday?  They left about 21 points on the field because they couldn't score in the red zone.  That won't cut it against Wartburg.

It's been concerning since the midway point of the season.  This team A) can't run the ball in short yardage and B) takes the foot off the gas early.

Three score leads late in 3rd/4th quarter against JCU, BW and DelVal and then nothing more from the head coach-led offense.  I'm hoping that its just a case of "survive and advance" mentality and trying to protect against injury, but the semifinals seem like a good spot to leave that mentality at the door.  The defense was the strength of this team, but has slowly been losing depth.  It's time for the offense to help them out, either keep the other team off of the field or put up some more points

Agree, but some of it can be chalked up to bad play calling as well as weather. The wind seemed to limit the pass game.

The short yardage stuff is what concerns me the most, a national championship caliber team needs to be able to pick up a yard or two when needed

bringing in the extra OL was a welcomed idea, but holy cow that looked awkward.  Putting Plunk under center and a sneak with two RB pushing forward is basically unstoppable.  But if we're not willing to do that, then get away from the 3 TE/extra OL type stuff.  If it doesn't work vs Capital and BW, it's not going to work in the semis or Stagg.  Just spread it out 4/5 WR with Parker and throw it around.  It pains me to say, but Mount is not a smash mouth type team anymore, but they are more athletic/quick than most.  Be who you are

I wouldn't mind seeing the backup qb in a few short yardage situations because he is a very good runner. Just something to give the d a different look. Maybe something they won't plan for or watch any tape on.

You shouldn't be as concerned as those of us who don't have another Saturday for our teams! Your team is doing something right no?

Because of the luck of the Draw, I think MTU has probably outperformed my expectations based on the regular season.

A Non-Conference game against a team that MTU JV could beat, and then a lackluster OAC schedule, did not prepare this team for a Playoff Run.

The first two rounds were like playing middle of the road OAC teams. Then a good challenge against the Beast of the East.

If they make it past Wartburg, it will be a successful season in my opinion.  If they were in another Quadrant, they probably wouldn't be playing this weekend.

Win a home game and have one game against either the defending champ or the consensus #1 team.  I'll take it.  The Raiders, when allowed, can play with anybody.  Lets pray for dry weather and hope that Dartt has been sandbagging

Based on the outcome of saturday's game I think you could argue mount would have been just as successful in St. John's Bracket

K & J,

I agree that the Raiders have surpassed what many thought was not achievable. This senior laded team has shown
motivation this year. There will need to be great play calling and execution this Saturday and maybe beyond. In the event they reach the Stagg, it will be time to challenge either NCC or UMHB this time around. :)

They do a lot right.  The question is do they do enough right to survive the next two weekends.   When they play to their potential it's a site to behold.  And when they don't, well, maybe some defender will bounce the ball off his helmet.

We have our reservations in Annapolis, there may be some questions but we always believe.

Am I wrong in assuming that Wartburg will fly to Ohio, as they are over 600 miles away?

that's going to be a lot of crop dusters flying into CAK
I was wondering how long it would take for the farmer jokes to start.

Honestly, on the drive from CAK airport to Alliance,  you'll probably end up passing around 20 farms... we're no stranger to farming... lol
