Hey Cru...question...has Warts played a real life passing attack team?  That's usually quite an advantage for us. Does anyone know how Warts D has done against a good passing team?  Mount is way more than good.

Totally agree the Purple Raider passing game & more specifically the WR talent is a level above anyone Wartburg has seen yet, I actually mentioned that already  ;)

But it would be unfair to say they haven't seen any good passing attacks. St. Johns finished the year top 10 at 303 ypg, Aurora was also top 25 in that category and the #2 scoring offense in D3 and got shut down pretty good. La Crosse were solid but a bit more balanced so I wouldn't put them in the "passing team" category.

But yes you are right, UMU will be the best offense and passing attack the Knights have seen but I do think they will slow them down enough to keep it very close and possibly win if Mount Union doesn't stop the Wartburg rushing attack.

Looks like a favorable matchup for Mount Union (#1 rushing defense) Wartburg is #22 in rushing offense

I'll need to look into Hansen's adjusted ratings to see if that's misrepresentation of the matchup though

Related to earlier discussion about Lineman size, I just saw an article comparing FBS Offensive lines and in 2021 Coastal Carolina's Oline averaged 288lbs and just under 6 0 tall

My math isn't as impressive as Hansen's but here are a few statistical comparisons...
First I hate to contradict you but according to YPG Wartburg is first in Rushing Defense with 43.8 and Mount Union is 2nd with 46.1...so very close.

Wartburg may be ranked 22nd in Rushing Offense but that came against 5 teams ranked in the top 50 in Rushing Defense (#7 Coe, #27 St Johns, #28 Loras, #42 Aurora, and #49 Monmouth)

As for Passing Defense, Wartburg is ranked #45, but that came against 9 teams ranked in the top 50 of Passing Offense per game (#2 Central, #15 St Johns, #19 Dubuque, #20 Simpson, #25 Nebraska Wesleyan, #29 Loras, #43 Aurora, #46 Monmouth, and # 49 UW-Stout)

No doubt Mount Union is the best team Wartburg has faced so far this year, but Wartburg has beaten some teams with some pretty impressive stats so far this year.

I'm excited to visit a bucket list stadium, excited to see how Wartburg matches up and excited for the opportunity Wartburg has to prove themselves against a D3 blue-blood...or is it purple-blood?

I don't mind being contradicted when I'm clearly wrong lol. Thanks for the correction. Excited for you to visit Ohio's oldest college football stadium!

Also, the visitors side being on uncovered is a blessing IMO. I always choose that side because of the less obstructed view.

The atmosphere of a semi-final game is always fun too, It's neat to see the ESPN camera crew setup.

So is there basically no way to avoid the ticket site fees now that we can't pay cash?

Afraid not.  I wonder how much affect the new ticketing policy had on the poor attendance this season.

IMHO, The Athletic office has made it  more difficult for the average Mount supporter to consider buying a ticket in
advance, paying a processing fee and only using a credit card. Attendance may be down for several reasons, but the
new process is a factor. I do not favor the system, only since It takes the person behind the athletic office process out
of the process. One used to be call the ticket office with any inquiries, but that is about gone, :(

There probably many who think this is the direction to take with ticket processes. It will be what many colleges will move
to if not already in place.

Some call it "cost cutting", or "greater efficiency", or "increased income" (not if sales drop).

At the HS level in FL, most schools are moving towards online ticketing.

It started out prior to COVID, but really took off during the pandemic.

It reduces time counting and accounting for the cash.

From the Picks:

"Logan's take:   When he's targeting Wayne Ruby, Braxton Plunk is the most efficient quarterback in the country. Targeting anyone else, and he's barely above average."

I guess that it's pretty cool Wayne Ruby is a Purple Raider

I guess Plunk's completion percentage to any other receiver is barely average...

Ruby didn't play vs. Otterbein and Plunk was 23/31.  I guess 74% is just average.

I'd try to go back and back Ruby's receptions out of the other games statistics, but there's no way of knowing how many attempts (that were incomplete) went to specific receivers.

If it's about dollars and cents why not just increase ticket prices to account for inflation, I'm pretty sure playoff tickets were $10 when I was an undergrad at mount

The new stat software most NCAA schools use does include info about who was targeted on incomplete passes.
