Pretty blatant missed holding call there at the end, but maybe try to score before the 4th quarter?

Mount needs either a new OC or new HC, Dartt should not be doing both

Full disclosure, my thing is futbol, so I may not be entirely sure, but I don't know how NCC was not called for a hold on the 3rd and long in the 4th quarter that led to their 4 touchdown.  I was sitting right there and thought the cops were going to come on the field and arrest the lineman.

Came up off the couch yelling for a hold on the last QB run, but did not get it...one missed call does not lose a game, but it would have made it more interesting.
NCC won deservedly and Mount showed the character of a champion.  Great Defense on both sides in key situations.  I wondered if Plunk was a little fuzzy in the first half after the targeting, but he showed up big in the second.  Greenfield is a beast, as is the DB who blanketed Ruby. You can carp about coach and play calling, but a championship team should be able to run the ball better than Mount did for most of the season against the tough guys.
IMO, Mount did a fantastic job this season as both O and D lines suffered an on-going injury bug. Many do not know just how banged up they were.
We will see just how good NCC coach is when he rebuilds with his guys, I think he'll be a good one.
Thanks to Pat and D3 guys for another great season.  All who love D3 football are appreciative of your efforts.
Merry Christmas to all, and thanks Purple Raiders for another fantastic run.

K & J's Dad,

Once the dust settles on this past season, it will be interesting to see your Projections for 2023 and what the Raiders
have coming back. The questions were raised already other than Ruby, could Parker or even Plunk use a Covid year eligibiltiy for 2023?

Regarding the game last night. Not going for 4th and 1 turned out to be critical along with some other plays that
made one wonder. I think not having your 1st team running back and later losing your backup really hurt the Raiders. NCC
had 3 big plays that won it for them. The Raider defense otherwise showed a lot of grit and fortitude. No turnovers for
either team was a testament to the two best teams playing for a title. I hope Ethan Greenfield graduates and does something else next fall.
He is quite the player.

Many of the football pundits had Mount losing by a ton. Instead it was a thriller that came down to the final minutes.

Kudos to Mount on a hard-fought game! There were a few times North Central really could have opened it up, and Mount stood resilient each time. I admire a team that fights to the very end and doesn't give up.
Now all we have to do is wait 8 months for next season  :'(

Does anyone know what the attendance was last night at the game? For some unknown reason, I can't get the Box Score to work on my phone or computer.

Don't remember the exact number but it was about 3200.

It's hard to imagine Mt playing a worse first half of football. No doubt NCC had much to do with it, but the penalties, first 2-3 punts, punt snaps and Plunk's resistance to throw the ball were head scratching.

The second half was the Mt I remember and admire. Trust your playmakers.
Tough calls on the 4th and 1 and the on-side kick.
Also, very impressed w Redmond as a #3 back, he ran hard.

Great comeback and season.

They announced 3,123.

Not bad.
Thanks Pat and WRMU.

I thought Mount did what they needed to do defensively to give them a chance to win. They held NCC to their lowest rushing output of the year, lowest number of plays and worst passing performance (completion %), lowest number of total yards, and lowest scoring output. NCC ran only 49 plays to Mt Union's 72 and Mt had a 34 to 26 min TOP advantage. All those numbers were enough to give them a chance to win defensively against this NCC offense.

I was surprised at the output of the Mt Union offense. They were completely shut down for most of the game. Mount had just 140 total yards of offense going into the 4th quarter. NCC's defense controlled the LOS, Antwain Walker shut down Ruby through 3 quarters and this game was looking like a shut out. It looked like NCC loosened up a little bit on defense when they went up 21-0 and Mount starting playing with more urgency. Whatever the reason, they put up 179 yds and 21 pts in Q4 an Ruby had 4 catches for 83 yds. It all proved too little too late.

It will be interesting to see who is coming back but I suspect both these teams will be in the mix in December next year.

It definitely could have been called a hold at the end as Lehnen went by but my question is where were the other 10 players? That's a long running play to go laterally to the sideline and then turn it upfield. There were at least 3 unblocked Mt defenders and a couple others who got blocked by NCC WR's that didn't do their job. Credit NCC for making the play to win the game.

It was clearly a hold. Definite missed call by the officials, right out there in the open. But I don't think that the outcome turned on it, and, to their credit, I don't see any deep-in-denial Raiders fans here squeezing whine out of sour grapes over that non-call. Most of the Mt. Union regular posters have already tipped their caps to North Central as the legit Stagg winner and the undisputed best team in the nation, and I respect them for that.
