fantastic article by The Athletic's Zac Jackson. highlighting that despite the Stagg Bowl loss Mount Union is unlike every other D3FB school, like some would like you to believe

I'd love to read it but if I pay for one more subscription my net worth will fall below Warren Buffett's.

And I refuse to let that happen.   >:(

If you're referencing the D3Fb article "Today, We're all Mount Union" the point isn't to say that Mount is just like every other d3 school, it's just about the current D3 competitive landscape.

no,no never...I'm just looking forward to the d3football.com coverage of a D3 player and coach being the head coach and face of a franchise in the Super Bowl

Pat Coleman

We didn't when Dan Quinn coached the Falcons in Super Bowl LI, but who knows, perhaps.

If my perusal of the player rosters for this year's college football "all star" games (NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, East-West Shrine Game, and Reese's Senior Bowl) is correct, it looks like only one D3 player is (was) on the roster, and I don't think that he was even an all-conference selection ... WR from Albion College (NFLPA Collegiate Bowl last Saturday).  Oddly, not their WR who was the MIAA Offensive MVP (should there have been some "pull" to get an Albion player on the roster).

Just saw that Ott hired former JCU OC Tommy Zagorski as their HC.  I completely missed that Doup stepped down.

the wildest D3FB coaching news is that former NCC coach Thorne was a finalist for the UWW job, but dropped out to take a sales job.  Thorne at UWW would have been pretty damn scary, but thankfully the money in the WIAC stinks

It's interesting -- that move read to me as a good way to bide some time for another D-I opportunity. I do agree that Bullis didn't really get paid a ton, but for him there were also benefits to staying in the Wisconsin State system for pension purposes.

Wait, I thought Thorne was coaching at the D1 level now? Did he get fired?

Ohhh I see now, his HC got fired... aww too bad.

Very good hire for Otterbein. I played under Z when he was the O-Lin coach at John Carroll. He's a great coach, and a better person. And he has a really, really good energy that really gets players fired up. Otterbein may not have the most talent at the moment, but I would definitely predict that this hire will put them back in the right direction.

There is no reason Otterbein shouldn't be winning 6+ games a year given their location and, unlike Cap, institutional support of sports.  You could pull in a talented roster barely driving outside 270.  I think that's a good job and it sounds like they hired a good coach.  I'll definitely watch more Ott football this fall than usual.

former Mount WR and Navy Seal, Luc Meacham is playing ball overseas.  Luc is an absolute dawg, and everything that you'd want a Purple Raider to be.  What a D3 story...Champion-to-Navy Seal(!!!)-to-Euro Ball
