Mount has been twice shut out by OAC teams in the second half within the past year. Disturbing. Possessions are more precious than ever.
I like the way Echelberry and Williams stone it in there running the ball. Bodes well.
It's still very early in the development of this offense. The defense is playing lights out.
This is going to be a great team, offense and defense. They are loaded.

The 14-14 second half at Capital last year was eye-opening as well

Thoughts from Saturday:

I'm trying to remember the last time Mount had a D line playing like this one is so far.  And even though they only have Hill and Factor as guys with their hand in the dirt I assume we all kind of agree that Moore and Brown/Saahir are DE's in their current set up.  Moore and Brown have been blowing up pass plays constantly.  Moore has 6 sacks (4 against Etta) and Brown notched another sack giving him 4.5 now.  Those guys are making plays.  But the thing I really like is that Hill and Factor are being disruptors inside too.  The defense as a whole is playing really well and the line in particular has been exceptional.

As for the offense?  I guess we have to call it a work in progress.  I was not anticipating that given the fact that you return AA QB, WR and RB.  The opening drive was very crisp, marched right down the field and scored with ease.  We just didn't see much execution like that in the second half.  Not sure why.  There was no chance Etta could score 4 times so maybe the focus on offense wasn't quite as locked in.  Again, not what you'd expect from a very veteran unit.  I liked what Radford showed.  Hopefully he emerges as a nice #2 WR with all the focus on Ruby.  This team is too talented to get worried at this point.  We saw last year in the playoffs that when push comes to shove Plunk is going to use his legs and they're going to show a lot more than they do early on.  But as a fan it's definitely not the fireworks and fun football we are used to seeing.  Especially from a team that has the personnel to make big plays.  I'm so happy for him and the amazing opportunity he has, but selfishly I'm curious how the offense would differ under a Junior Collins OC.

you're not alone brother.   or basically any other OC than the HC, seems like its been pretty obvious that both roles is a little too much.  Even VK had to give up the coordinator duties after trying to do both.  I can't imagine that there wouldn't have been a long list of applicants to run the Mount Union offense when Collins left for the NFL

Coach Dartt has a defense mentality. Collins did a good job, but it makes no sense no to hire an OC. They should
ask Larry to fill in, since he could do it in his sleep. A good HC would recognize that one cannot do it all.

the Mount team record for sacks is 77 (1997), the boys have 16 sacks through two games...that pass rush is deadly

As the others have posted, I'm a bit disappointed in the Offense.  You have Grad Returning QB, RB, and WR and get shut out in the 2nd half by Marietta.  It doesn't matter that its only the 2nd game of the season. JCU is starting the season with UWW, BWU and Heidelberg.  Mount is lucky they have the easy part of the OAC early.

a 36 point spread vs Muskie has to be a record in the OAC pick em era....gross

Looking at the 2 deep Barrett is starting at RG.  Burress is not listed so I assume he is hurt.  Hopefully nothing serious.  Other than that I did not notice any changes this week.

Barrett got the start last week as well.  Burress also played according to the box score.  Seems like the Raiders have three starting caliber guards, with Kennedy being solidly in at LG.  I'd love to see one in the backfield to help some of those short yardage/goal line woes of the past couple of years for Mount

They are not getting close to beating my spreads, from a method that has worked so well for the last two decades.I assume Dartt isn't trying to embarrass me personally, but he's definitely not making my job any easier!
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Looks like the old coach still knows how to coordinate.
