Well, Capitals one win was Otterbein in a close game.  Those two Columbus schools been battling each other the past few years to not be the worst team in the OAC.  Crusaders have managed to win 4 games since 2019, losing 34. While the Cardinals been doing slightly better averaging 1-2 wins a year, usually beating Capital. ;D Lots of big high schools in the area, but the two OAC Columbus colleges seem unable to draw in players well.

Trust me, Berg I've bemoaned the lack of competitiveness of our Columbus programs especially as a nearly 20 yr resident of centra Ohio now.  There's no excuse for it.  Denison doesn't hammer their home turf in recruiting and OWU is middling.  Not saying both OAC Columbus programs should be good but both being so bad is absurd.  Hopefully this new HC in Westerville will gain some traction soon.  Cap is a mess and has been for yrs.  And listening to the game today was not promising for them.

The Capital Crusaders football team lost its last game on 9/25/21 to Marietta 37-7 and haven't lost a game since.

The Capital Comets, on the other hand, have lost many games.

They have a 2 - 21 record which is bad but many teams have lost more than 21 games so I wouldn't say that is many games..

The promising thing about Cap that I saw as a positive is that a very large percentage of their roster was freshmen.  Perhaps this bodes well if they all stay, develop, and hang in there.

in something that would have not been believable 20 years ago, Marietta vs Heidelberg has to be the OAC game of the week.  Marietta has home field and the Heidelberg offense is clearly not the same with the backup QB's in there.  But its still 4-2 vs 4-2 and the winner has the inside track for 3rd place in the OAC behind Mount and JCU.  If Marietta can handle their business at home, only ONU, Capital and Muskingum would stand between the Pioneers from an 8-2 season.  8 wins has only happened at Marietta twice since 1920 (1969 and 1995).  Getting Marietta to 8-2 would be huge for the conference's slim Pool C chances, as they would no doubt be regionally ranked

in Purple Raiders news...while Marietta having a historical season and grabbing an unexpected regionally ranked opponent win for the boys in purple is great, the mighty Yellow Jackets of Defiance aren't proving to be quite the SOS busting out-of-conference opponent for Mount.  They are currently sitting at 2-4, with the Kalamazoo loss being pretty controversial.  The Yellow Jackets still have three games with the bottom of the HCAC who have combined for 1 total victory.  It is not out of the realm of possibility that DC finishes 5-5 and helps push the Mount SOS up a little to avoid the NCAA doing NCAA things and shipping Mount out east to crush someone in December

Pat Coleman

Agreed that a 5-5 Defiance would be good news for Mount Union, but Defiance's OWP gets added into Mount Union's OOWP, and those bottom three in the HCAC with their combined one win will also impact Mount Union's SOS.

We currently have it at .510. That only includes the games which have been actually played so far.

I didn't even realize Capital changed their mascot name, was the Crusaders when I was in school at Heidelberg.  Not a fan of their new name  ;D

I don't think the Marietta game will be good for Heidelberg, offensively they been struggling big time since their Senior QB went down.  Last week against Otterbein, they swapped around between two quarterbacks and neither could get anything going.  Heidelberg's only offensive touchdown was like late in Quarter 4.  21 of their 28 points came from their defense, two interception returns and I think one was a fumble recovery.  If you can't score on the worst team I'm a little bit concerned how they will match up against Marietta.  Although it was raining the whole game so maybe that effected it,  but they also struggled with Muskingum two weeks ago, and really only won cause the punter decided to make a call and run it on 4th and 10, when they were like on like their own 30 with 40 seconds left.  He ended up going 30 yards and we got into field goal range to win as time ran out.  So I think the Pioneers are gonna have a decisive game against us.

In unrelated news, Mount Union adds women's wrestling beginning in 2024....

getting on the north side of .500 would be nice for Mount, even just for the optics.

I hate to see such large scores on fellow OAC schools. The Purples tried to stop scoring on both Muskie and Capital. You had to see it to believe it. Mount Union's third team would have blasted them both. What does a coach do? In my opinion, the only time the Purples have really gone after a team was the obliteration of Marietta with 84 points. That was due to the Marietta football team's harassment of the Purple basketballers during a game at Marietta. A certain senior football coach was stirred to anger.

the killer instinct is missed at Mount
