Total left turn here:  On any given day in practice, how many points does the offense of the University of Southern California score against its defense?  A thousand?  Two thousand?  Ten million?

Seemed inevitable:  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2023/11/05/usc-fires-defensive-coordinator-alex-grinch-with-2-games-left-in-regular-season/71467628007/

Agree Dr A, the Musky vs Wilma game was certainly entertaining. Offense vs Offense.  Onside kick by Wilma after scoring to go up 63-56 with 4 minutes to go backfired.

It has been a rough couple of years. Lost both my parents and a brother, and my wife's dad passed early this year, so football hasn't been high on the list right now. I have not followed too much this season (caught some highlights or replays) but I have been busy. Have not made it to a game....yet. But we (the fam and I) just got back from Germany and Dublin (really needed to get away) and I decided to tune in for this one. Ok, so I followed the score as I helped my wife pack up her dad's house. But I tuned in for the replay last night. Mount looked ok. The offense looked slow (not fully in sinc) and the D reminded me of maybe 2018 (?). They bend but don't break and seem to be able to get that big play on demand. I can't say I was impressed but I wasn't disappointed either.

The thing I can't shake is that Plunk reminds me of Seaman and/or Fulford. Talented but you know there are things he can do (you've seen him do it) but for some reason he isn't doing them. He can run. I have seen him. He's actually mobile but he doesn't and instead throws it away, or checks down even though he could get 15-20 running. It's just frustrating.

Having said that - this was a great test for Mount. JCU is a good team and played well - they averaged 5.5 per play and had 300 in the air. But Mount found a way. Grind out good days. This just felt like a glass half empty type of win. Now the question...does JCU stand a chance at playoffs with 2 losses? Top ranked losses...but losses.

Sorry for the lengthy. Roll Raiders ~ Roll!

If Mount had Fulford or Plunk during the Seaman years, Piloto wouldn't have ever seen the field and Mount would be knocking on the door of 20 national titles.  Dark, dark years of Purple Raider QB play

Mount Union moves up to the #1 spot in Bill Connelly's D3 ratings.  Mount is #211 in the Top 760 all divisions rankings, NCC is #213, the next D3 team is #275 (Wartburg).  Kent State is only 18 spots ahead of Mount

The Third Division

what was mount union's cost of attendance in 1993? It is 35,000 now per year.

I was there 1990-1994.  It was pretty close to that.  I think around $25-$30 K.

so really the cost went down due to inflation!!!

sigma one

According to the UMU website that $35K is for tuition and fees.  The figure does not take into account housing and meals, which could be another 8/10K.  Of course, for many students the total price would be reduced by a combination of academic and need-based financial aid.  (There is also the additional cost of textbooks and supplies and travel costs to and from campus, especially for out-of-state students.)

Raider 68

When I was at Mount, tuition was about $3,700, room and board another $3,600 for $7,600 with used books!

Mount #1, JCU #5 and Marietta sneaks in at #7.  Mount will be 2-0 vs regionally ranked opponents when it comes to tournament seeding, much better than just JCU

What happens if Wabash defeats Depauw?  Will Marietta get knocked out of the Regional Rankings?

Did the committee add Marietta to help out a possible Pool C Bid?

I believe teams ranked this week or next week count as RRO.  So Marietta is locked in for Mount and JCU.  Hope being ranked ahead of JCU and also being finished with their season is the tougher spot for the Blue Steaks.  I'm not sure anything that they could do against Otterbein this weekend to make a huge difference.
