After doing what they wanted in the 1st Quarter, Mount severely underperformed in the 2nd.

The coaches and kids must have read the 60-70 point win predictions.  Totally unacceptable 2nd qtr

Mount looks totally unprepared.  Poor coaching and poor execution

Alfred St looked pretty prepared when their punter ran for 30 yds before anyone touched him.  I loved Harry "they must have seen something on film". Uhh ya think??

The passing game execution has been bad.  Hopefully that gets cleaned up in the 2nd half.

Not sure what ref was looking at (maybe watching Maryland game on his smart watch, I don't know) but a huge push off on that 2nd Alfred TD. Receiver and defender together when ball was in the air.  Receiver catches ball, defender 5 yards behind him.

That was bad.  It was right in front of him.  I'm usually more of a let em play guy, but when the only reason there's any separation is because the WR two hand shoves the DB towards the goalpost then breaks to the sideline right in front of you I'm not sure how you don't call it.  Jones is standing there with his palms up looking at the official like WTF.

Alfred State's QB's favorite target today are the benches on both sides of the field.

No Purple Raiders TE play today?

Looks like Mount treated it like a mini-bye week.  Weird game all-around for the Raiders

Where was Rossy?

Good is my biggest question and concern....if he's injured, this is a different defense.

I listened to the broadcast on WRMU and thought they said in post game they were hoping to get him back. Didn't say injured but I banged up, I think.

I am watching the restream on boxcast...wow Alfred State's 2nd TD was awful! That was offensive pass interference. He didn't push off he shoved him halfway across the end zone. How in the world was that not called?

I'm guessing it's because our DB initiated the contact, I can see a ref plausibly giving benefit of the doubt that they were both hand fighting

Overall watching the replay and mount just looked very uninspired at times, kinda lackadaisical. Allowing ASU to rush for over 4 yards per carry is a bit of a worrying stat to me, but they also got like 40 rushing yards from that fake punt.

Talked to someone in the know and they said he was just resting.  A little banged up but back next week.  Didn't think they would need him and wanted him to get rested up for next week.

Agree with your explanation and it looked like the refs view could've been blocked by the receiver.

They played most uninspired!!! They can't do that next week as Alma has a legitimately explosive team. The defense gets takeaways and the offense is very quick paced with an athletic QB who can pull and run. The running backs are shifty, break tackles and get yards after contact.... this should be a good game. I hope the defense is up to the challenge and the offense is back to clicking.

Mount looked dangerous, deadly, poised, unprepared, uninspired, and determined....and that was all on the first series. They come out hot. Boom, boom, boom and then went into neutral. Allowed penetration, took a penalty then I think another. Back themselves in a corner and Boom! Touchdown. The second quarter was painful. No offense to Alfred State but it wasn't anything they did. Passes behind WR, missed assignments, out of rhythm and sluggish. Tossing the pick in the end zone was Braxton forcing a ball into double coverage with an open man in the flat. Missed tackles (gotta wrap when you hit). To be honest the second quarter reminded me of the 2004 (?) team that lost to St. John's in the Stagg. Mount looked like the game was over and just went through the motions.

Now having said that - Mount did what great teams do. They flipped the switch at halftime and rolled. The D got penetration and made plays. For the game Mount gave up 136 on the ground, 117 passing (253 total) and 13 first downs. The rushing yards are a bit deceptive because it was 3 chunk runs (22, 12, 15) and the fake punt for 33.

But after halftime they gave up a total of 85 yards (44 rush, 41 pass) and only 1 run of more than 7 yards (25). They made adjustments and cleaned it up and finished. Win and advance. Roll Raiders
