I feel like in D3 unless you have some dude who has a big arm and is just a complete superior talent throwing the ball (most recent I can think of is Rutter at NCC) then your QB almost has to be a dual threat guy.  Plunk felt like he was in the no man's land in between.  Good passer, but not close to Rutter.  Able to run, but not as a designed consistent aspect of the offense.  Mount has always been able to land athletic QB's.  Beaudrie is definitely another one.  I'm excited to hopefully see the return of a more Burke/Scott flavored scheme to show off Beaudrie's talents.

Plunk was a tremendous D3 QB, don't get me wrong, but was he the type that would be a 4 year starter at Mount Union?  He was athletic, but not a running threat.  Very accurate, but not the best deep ball thrower.  Hopefully, with a running QB Dartt will open up the offense to more than just WR screens and runs up the middle.  Wasn't he the OC with Taurice? and maybe even Burke?

I can't make it known enough how excited that I am for the COVID era to be ending.  A) D3FB is too expensive for kids to be playing 5-6 years B) as basically the only true college football left, D3FB should be about program- building and not just who has had the best class or two of 25 year olds

Burke (2013-2014), Scott (2015), Davis (2016) and Fulford (2019).  Even Dom ran for 400+ yds in 2016 as a freshman.  Dartt definitely knows how to use a dual threat QB as well as anyone.

Not the point of this, but had to mention the absurdity that was Scott rushing for 854 yds, 13 TD, 7.1 ypc considering he had over 100 yds in sacks dragging those numbers down.  Insane ypc.  Burke also rushed for over 1,000 yds net of sacks in 2013.  His rushing yds gained were 1,198 which also seems crazy.

My guess is that it will be Sunday August 17th, but I am not sure. Usually the players
report on Sunday for physicals.

Mount picks up a very local transfer.  RB Kayden Davis transfers from Youngstown State to Mount

Big time get, now if his brother commits to play with him.....

Quote"Something that I realized from the first day was that a lot of the time, it is up to you to get yourself better," Pasco said. "As a long snapper, I didn't have a specific coach last year. It was up to me to go online and find different drills to do as well as figure out what I was doing wrong and how to improve myself."

what?  Mount has an actual NFL longsnapper on the coaching staff.  What other positions are "going online to find drills"?  Ughhh

That's a nice win.  6'1" 205 lb FCS RB isn't a bad get at all.  Did K'Vaughn commit anywhere yet?  Saw some D2 offers but no commitment.

I have not seen anything about a commitment.  Those Alliance HS to Mount tuition deals might be tough to beat.  I wish the kid nothing but the best, but being a 6-4 WR with your brother in the backfield seems like a pretty good deal.

He just announced it yesterday via twitter: https://x.com/kaydendavis25/status/1817664006376550586?t=NMeuAKRBZaZRJSFJN-xA3w&s=19

He's a good running back who breaks tackles, runs well and can catch the ball. He has good awareness as well. Glad to have him on the team and hope he can be the thunder when needed.

Need to return to the days of Chuck Moore, Dan Pugh and Nate Kmic all great running backs on great Raider teams. :)  :)  :) Davis could be the next!

Sorry for being confusing.  We were talking about his younger brother K'Vaughn who is a stud WR that just graduated from AHS.  I didn't see where he had committed yet so we were doing a little wishful thinking!

Got it! K'Vaughn is certainly a different type of receiver Mount hasn't had with height, strength and hands like he does. I will say as someone mentioned earlier, WR is one position I'm not sure we have to fret over with the Purple Raiders. It's just a matter of who steps up and adapting the play calling up those guys strengths.

Could he remind you of a former, big, strong WR who went on to have a great NFL career. I think his initials were PG? ;D  ;D

there will never be another PG at the D3 level.  He was different
