Looking at the roster I saw Taurice Scott listed as a WR coach.  Good to have him back on campus.  I also noticed that Junior Collins is listed as QB coach.  No OC title for any of the assistants currently.

GOAT Gulling is still around coaching WR too

Totally agree.  Also, other teams got really good.  Division III isn't Mount Union and then everybody else anymore.

a lot of teams "get really good", having 23-24 year olds playing sure helps, it's staying (and staying) really good that is the thing

We shouldn't pretend that Mount Union didn't leverage the extra eligibility.  We also shouldn't pretend that Mount Union didn't get caught until after COVID.  This started a while ago.

Gonna agree with Greg on this one.

I not saying that Mount didn't use the extra COVID years, they actually were pretty horrible at it (by Mount standards).  But rather, it will be interesting to see what programs stick around at the top after a great class or two finally graduate.  There is a reason it was "the Purple Powers" for a decade, plus UMHB. NCC sure looks like they will stick around (not a bad recruiting area), but Wartburg is now a national power? Football in the Northeast suddenly got so good that teams there will be competing for Nattys?

"This started a while ago"....when was that?  in the five years prior to the COVID season, Mount won two national titles, had a runner-up, lost to the only team ever to vacate a D3FB title and lost a shootout to NCC (by far best two teams).

It only gets worse for your argument if you go back 10 or 15 years prior to COVID.  I think last season was the first year that Mount's season wasn't either ended by a national title or a loss to the eventual champion (unless you count the UMHB-Subaru season)  So I guess D3 "caught up", I guess

My view of D3's best programs over 5 plus years are as follows:

Mount Union
Wisconsin Whitewater
Mary Hardin Baylor
North Central

There are others that have been climbing, but the top four have won multiple titles over the
period. Will this change soon, I think the top four could be expanded but it will take a few years. There are 23-24  National Championships among them and their recruiting continues to be very strong.

With the oimpending collapse of the ASC, UMHB may not be in D3 much longer.

0 Mount Union skill players on the 1st 2nd or 3rd pre-season all American list. two Linemen (which is great) but Mount has always had more depth in the skill players then the line. Wonder if this has ever happened in the history of the D3FB.com era.

Unrelated, but this is my first time back on the boards since the refresh... Is the Karma system dead?

Pat Coleman

Probably. The site has been fairly stable as-is so I'm not eager to add any additional features to the mix.

I can't tell you how worried that I am that Mount won't have any decent skill players, how will they ever score any points or stop anyone?

Should North Central just be awarded the National title now, since they have the significant
majority of All-Americans? :o
