Quote from: D3fanboy on August 29, 2024, 12:09:32 PMFR RB Kayden Davis listed at 5-11 225 lbs has to be one of the biggest Mount RB in a long time.  Probably wont be throwing it three times from inside the 3 yard line this year

Also, Ray Williams is back listed on the roster.  I could have sworn he was transferring in the spring/summer

Ray entered the "transfer portal."  He must not have found a new school.

I may have completely missed it before, but Tyrell Sanders is also back for a 5th year at WR joining Williams and Radford.

plus a Wittenberg grad transfer (T. May - 3rd team All-NCAC), a 6-5 transfer from Montclair St (A. Baker) and about 40 freshman WR.  For some reason, I think the Raiders will be just fine in the WR room. Nick Turner also looked pretty slick in the slot last year.

Dr. Acula

Glimpses of Turner in the slot and in the return game last year had me hoping he may become Tim Kennedy-ish as he develops.

Hmmm...
The D3Football.com "Teams"/"Schedule" website page selection shows a home game for Ferrum against Greensboro tonight.  No accompanying scoreboard update or result.
Must be a mistake.

Just as an FYI from an observation to the roster. What are the chances of having two players with the name Kayden on the team? Both are RB's and from a review of Kyden Minner bio a pretty good RB in his own right. He is from Missouri. I don't remember another player from there playing for Mount. Could be one to watch going forward. I have read about Kayden Davis in previous posts, and it could be a good "Kayden" backfield for the Raiders. It would give the announcers an easier job, "who carried the ball on the last play? Kayden did! ;D

A question I've had for a long while now, why does D3 football not start this weekend like D1?  Seems like it would be nice to have another warm weather game and one less cold November game

Historically, D3 DOES start Labor Day weekend. However with the new Playoff format, and Championship Date, they worked back the weekends and next week therefore is week 1.

Kayden Minner is getting pretty rave reviews at camp btw

I'll also add, Kaleb Brown looks like he lived in the weight room this offseason. Bandit, Edge, DE...whatever you call it.  Look for a big year out of #7

FWIW unless I missed him I do not see Ray Williams listed on the roster anymore.

I've seen the name Kayden more in the last five years than in my entire previous lifetime.  I kayn't explain it.

I believe the bylaw says that the first regular season contest may not be earlier than the Thursday before 11 weeks from the first Saturday of the playoffs.

The playoffs always start one Saturday before Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving comes at the very last possible date that Thanksgiving could ever fall on this year (11/28) and so everything starts a week later.

+k

I noticed that Brown was thicker from pictures they posted on the team Twitter account too. He had a very good season last year and hopefully he can take another step.

Great news on Minner. Anyone interested, go watch his highlight film. Not sure if competition, but he moves like a bigger BJ Mitchell.https://www.hudl.com/profile/14744017/kayden-minner

The good thing is these young talented guys can learn and push for playing time as the season goes on. Echeverry looks like he added 10 pounds too.
