Quote from: Dr. Acula on October 03, 2024, 11:01:27 AMIdeally they would have maybe seen JCU/BW a few weeks later to let the new faces play together and get some more experience.  But I guess this is good also in that it gives them an assessment early with plenty of time and an accommodating schedule to coach them up and make adjustments the next few weeks.  Then they get Etta later for another good test to see how they've progressed.

True.  The Pios have had some great defenses as of late.  I'll be curious to see how they (Marietta) fare against BW and the Streaks before the trek north on I-77.

I think Etta plays JCU the last game of the season.  Could very well be a de facto playoff game for the Pios.

week 10 @Mount -> week 11 @JCU -> playoffs is quite the gauntlet.  But talk about a chance to build a program. There has always been a good opportunity for a southern team to take the next step as a real OAC/playoff contender.  CAP was there for a bit and Otterbein looked like a squad for a few games in a couple of seasons.  Could Etta be next?

Dr. Acula

I'm going to try to watch their game this weekend because I'm curious to see if ONU is smoke and mirrors or legit.  I want to see them play someone tough.  The Bears seem to be running the ball a ton.  We'll see if that works against Etta.  My guess is no.

Quote from: D3fanboy on October 03, 2024, 11:34:11 AMI would think that there is a very good chance of Marietta @ Mount being a November matchup of undefeated, ranked teams, where the winner is all but guaranteed a playoff spot.  A statement that would have gotten you thrown in the loony bin not all that long ago.  Kudos to the coaches and players down on the river

Quite possibly.  Last year the Pios gave the Streaks all they could handle.  As I like to say, they didn't lose, they just ran out of time.
LOL I remember that game well! My wife and I were in Nashville and she was getting made at me because i was having a meltdown as she was trying to find parking around the brewery we were going to and apparently being no help  ;D

Clearly Ms. Bluestreak66 had different priorities in the moment.  ;)

Anyone know why the Mount/Ott game is starting at 12:30?  As a long time central Ohioan my first thought was because the OSU game is 3:30 today so move it up an hour so folks can still watch the Buckeyes.  (I've become jaded after a couple decades of assuming that is the reason for everything here)

Zero energy from the Raiders to start

This team is not winning a chip this year. Little energy, sacks, messed up goal line scoring potential

Never thought I would see Mount look below average. Thanks Geoff, with a big assist from DC Ely.

More short side field run and passes and then no under center plays in short yard field situations.

In Pittsburgh we have Tomlin specials. In Alliance we are going to have Dartt specials too.

Dr. Acula

If last week at BW was a focused, dialed in start this week at Ott is...pretty much the opposite.  Not sharp on either side of the ball.  Thankfully the Cards QB overthrew the wide open guy in the end zone or it'd be 7-0 Ott after 1Q.

Someone needs to remind the offense and defense that just because their opponent have red and white uniforms, they are NOT playing
North Central.
The team Mount has on the field today, will not make it out of the first round of the playoffs.
Two turnover on downs, no blocking by the offensive line, defensive line being knocked off the line,
pathetic Dartt, really pathetic.

They're struggling with Otterbein, an OAC title might be out of the question

Coaching malpractice.

Why?

Because we know Dartt and Ely can put together a good game plan, and now instead choose not to do so.
