That kind of stuff shouldn't really matter until the playoffs though. The talent gap should allow us to run a pretty vanilla game plan and dominate. This is worrying

So I was spending some time on the "The Helmet Project" the other day. For anyone that doesn't know it's an archive of basically every football helmet design for every football team: http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/.

Anyway, I was reminded of Mount Union's brief use of alternative helmets in 2017 and 2018. 2017 we had black helmets that we wore for 1 game in September and 2018 we had white helmets (THAT LOOKED AWESOME that we also wore for a single game in September. Does anyone know what happened to these? Seems like a really strange investment to buy 100 or so helmets to only use them in a single game and then never use them again.

Dr. Acula

If I remember right the white helmets didn't have purple letters or it was just a purple outline.  I just remember you could barely see the RAIDERS on them.

Seems like the kind of helmets you would wear for a special night game, which I don't think I've ever seen Mount have a home night game?

Interesting fact, apparently in 1930, Mount Union was the First OAC member to play a night game in a 18-6 Home win against Kent State, also the year ya'll played Ohio State.

They played Muskingham in a night home OAC opener in 2012.

And of course the night playoff game against UMHB.

12 years ago, I say its about time to schedule another one!  Thats a lot of players who have spent four years and graduated, without ever having a night game on campus.  Night games always were my favorite to attend, something about the atmosphere of being under the lights makes it better, especially if its a shootout game.

Well at least we do get a few OAC night games a year.  Seems to be the same teams who are scheduling them: HU, ONU, MUSK, CAP, WILM, & OTT.  I wish there were more, imagine Mount vs JCU under the lights or undefeated Mount vs undefeated Marietta this year at 7pm.  I'm sure the students would be fans of them, but probably not with the older fans.  The one big perk for me is I can do things Saturday afternoon without missing games.

I was Mount for the 2004-2007 seasons. I recall vividly in 2004 my first home game as a student was a night game against JCU. If memory serves correctly, that was the first regular season night home game for Mount in 10 years from that time. The famous "Pierre Garçon breakout game" was under the lights in Alliance against Otterbein in 2005. My long-winded point is that I'm pretty sure we played at least one night game every season in which I was a student, and I do wonder why the school has (seemingly again) moved away from them.

Who is more hard headed about not having/letting an offensive coordinator call the plays,
Kevin Stefanski or Geoff Dartt?

I really preferred the days when Mount football was not ever compared to the Cleveland Browns

BergAlum2

Kevin Stefanski finally gave up play calling this week to Ken Dorsey, and look they got a win and finally over 200 yards of offense and 20+ points.

Or maybe it wasn't the offensive play-calling, but instead the Bengals defense isn't good and the Browns finally were not saddled with the leagues worst quarterback.  ;D

Craft_Beermeister

Or maybe it was the Raven's defense.

Wow my bad, got it all mixed up, it was the Ravens this week.  Didn't watch the game since it wasn't on TV in Columbus, just listened to some of the radio call while driving.  Going to miss Jim Donovan doing the radio call.

I remember my senior year in 2012 we scheduled our game against Mount as a night game, and it was the last game of the season. They were not happy about that lol

Why? I know we don't schedule them usually but not reason the team would be inherently unhappy to play under the lights. Not to mention at that time every player was used to night games considering the Decade run of Stagg Bowls
