MUC 2008

Logan Hansen's model gives Mount "only" a 68% chance to win this week, with the final score predicted to be about 29-22.

Lot of it will depend on what Mount team shows up.

the offense has been far more consistent at home, hopefully there is a decent crowd to help get them going early and often.  Getting Rossy Moore back this week should really help the defense (obviously)

I love what Marietta is doing and they should continue to be the OAC #2 with JCU running away.  But Mount should have no problem covering Logan's 7.5 point spread, unless the road trip Raiders show up.  The first quarter will show a lot.

I'm sad Mount Union doesn't let you view old games after the broadcast date.  The missus planned a last minute trip for the long weekend, and looks like my plan to hide from the scores and watch later won't work out.  :'(

Whats the pick ems' spread on the Mount game? Not sure where it is or if its even still here in the current format. Regardless those spreads were normally spot on.

OAC Pick-ems has Mount a 15.5 point favorite.

Logan Hanson has Mount a 7.5 point favorite.

Massey has it 35-21 Mount.  For our BW friends, that's a 14 point spread

I think it's a win for Etta if they can keep it to 21 or less. Mount will be ready for the Pioneers.

The big question I have for Saturday is: Will the play calling be aggressive or conservative, if the later, it may be a long afternoon? ::)

take last season with a grain of salt, but Mount put up 2 TD's in their first 12 offensive plays vs Marietta while racing out to a 28-0 halftime lead.  An early Plunk INT (2nd drive) and Parker 2nd quarter fumble were pretty much the only things that slowed down the Mount offense.  Could have very easily been 35/42-0

Second half Mount middle run, middle run, bubble screened their way to running out the clock and took the victory 28-0.  Also of note, Rossy had 4 sacks and 6 TFL in last years matchup, so it would be pretty cool to have him back on the field on Saturday

I'd like to see a solid and consistent game plan on saturday.  I really like their two back sets, with both Williams and eche'y back there.  They also have some sets with 2 tightends and 2 rb's.  I like that a lot.
2 back sets run, run run...then draw/screen... then play action deep out/post patterns.  Also, they're probably gonna spy on Beau so he needs to hand off for like the first 5-6 runs, and not pull it.   BUt sell it hard... hand off and then sprint like you have the ball.

I think they need to force Marietta into selling out to stop the run, and the go over the top with a play action, or turner/cooper down the sideline.

I agree, I would really love to see Rossy back out there this week and see him and brown and factor light these guys up. I would love a defensive TD.

I can guarantee that Marietta is going to sell out to win this game.  They have a 5th year QB and some AA on defense.  This is their best shot to match Mount player for player, maybe ever.

I still like Mount to win big though, 44 - 14

If Mount rolls them by 50 I wont be surprised. If Mount loses - I wont be surprised. I guess thats the problem. They have all the talent to monkeystomp and yet all the consistency to keep it close against overmatched opponents (Otterbein). Just hoping SiL finds the rest of the playbook and Ely finds his testicles before kickoff.

A lot of butt hurt etta fans responding on Quick Hits over their schedule being called the easiest in the country by one of the writers.  Their next two games against Mount and JC will be their toughest of the season.

Marietta has a fan?

I'm no Logan Massey  8-)

Comparing MU's and Marietta's scores with the six common opponents so far this year:

Mount 300-56 = 244
Etta 284-54 = 230

I'll make Mount a 14 point favorite...at least because that includes the Mount/Otterbein anomaly

Mount will be by far the best team that Marietta has played this season.  Marietta might be the best team that Mount has faced as well, but the jump from JCU is definitely less than from BW to Mount.

We say it nearly every week in the Dartt era, but the first few possessions are going to be key.  Can Mount smack them around once again from the kick? or is Mount going to be "saving things for the playoffs" again?

It doesn't seem like it would be hard to motivate the boys prior to a de facto OAC Title Game, but I've learned that Dartt is full of surprises
