John Carroll and Mt. St. Joseph.

We lucked out likely facing a team we beat already, though I'm not sure I like our odds in the rematch based on how JCU's throttled Marietta

I'm thinking Marietta had more of an emotional let down at John Carroll after it looked like they would beat mount for the first time in forever.  It to take anything away from John Carroll, they are playing solid at the right time. If Marietta don't have to play mount and John Carroll back to back , the outcome may have been different

I really dont know if I want to go to a Mount JCU rematch. Mount should have lost the first one. They cant stop the JCU run and they cant cover the wideouts. JCU list because of poor play calling. What are the chances they make that mistake twice?

Do some of you really think the U.M.U.Administration will change football coaches? Quit drinking, stop using drugs, and get into see a good counselor. You need some reality therapy. Perhaps you malcontents have a suggestion as to who the new coach should be? I'd like to hear that. Any of you ever play on an undefeated team?  Any of you coached a team to an undefeated record? Are a lot of you in-demand to fill coordinator positions? No?

purple is probably a more informed and earthly-based poster on this site.  Had him as a guest/fill-in prof as a student (!!!) ... I respect the Counselor's opinion.

Other than that, I think that the playoffs pairings bracket around Mount Union have the makings for a good "B" movie.  I am ordering a large tin of extra-buttered popcorn to see how it all plays out!

First, I have to say, a few weeks ago, I didn't even think there was much of a chance John Carroll would even make it into the field, so I am so happy they get at least one extra game. But I'm not overall thrilled with the rematch in the second round. Not because I don't think they could beat Mount (I would think it would be about a 50/50 coin flip at this moment), but it's more fun to play new opponents. I just feel like John Carroll and MSJ are located in an area that they are a reasonable drive to many of the high seeds..... and they set up a rematch instead. Would've loved flipping the JCU/MSJ game with the Berry/Maryville game where the winner would play DePauw in the second round (which would also be a rematch if Berry wins)
That being said, any playoff game is a good game, and with how much John Carroll has improved over the year, I'm excited to see if they can put together a couple wins!
Surprisingly, Saturday will be their first ever game against MSJ. Just interesting given they're both Catholic schools in the same state. I would have thought at some point they crossed paths as a non-con or something

First of all, let's assume that JCU beats Mount St, Joseph

Second, Will JCU look past them? MSJ averaged 41 pts per game?

Third, assuming JCU wins, will they face both Mount QB's, is Beaudrie out for the season?

Forth, I have not seen or heard a word on his condition which would greatly impact this playoff game.

Fifth, Marietta did not play JCU like prior games for them, no question a let down game
            against JCU.

Sixth, Purple you are right in your conclusions on coaching change, but the Raiders
have not had the Mount " Standard" for 5 years in terms of a HC.

I think someone needs to pump the brakes on this "JCU is the hot team!" talk.  Other than the W vs Marietta, it was a  run through the bottom third of the OAC and a 4 point win vs BW.

Regardless of your feelings on this coaching staff, the Raiders have two weeks to heal up and prepare for JCU (most likely).  It will be a tough game, but the Raiders should be fine as long as they don't sleepwalk through a quarter or so.  I have a hard time imagining that a home playoff game vs your "rival" isn't enough to get the boys fired up.

All things considered; Mount couldn't have gotten a much better bracket if they want to make a run.  Not an easy path by any means, but definitely doable if they stop getting in their own way.

is there a reason that both JCU and MSJ show records of 9-1 on the bracket?
Did Joe Biden do an early "Turkey-day" pardon for one of their losses?

Pat Coleman

No, it's just that I have to retype everything by hand while the selection show is going on and sometimes I miss. Will fix it tonight.

Mount's quadrant is weak.  I could see a scenario where half of the teams could make it to the semifinals.

The plug on The Machine was pulled when Larry retired.  The momentum carried the program thru the VK years.  It's now dead and will need to be rebuilt if another title is to ever be won. The lack of quality depth in the OAC is what's kept them as league champs.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

the quad above Mount isn't exactly murder's row either.   Same thing was said last year, hopefully the program learned a tough lesson last year

I'm predicting an NCC vs Mt Union final. Bracket sets up nicely for both of them.
You win! You always do!
