Quote from: D3fanboy on November 25, 2024, 12:20:35 PMI have a feeling that Mount wouldn't have basically wasted a quarter offensively in the 3rd (and that 1 yard punt) with QB1 in the game. The fact that Mount only gave up one score during that disaster of a quarter is fairly impressive.  I will also add that 'Etta's second TD on 4th and goal would definitely not have stood if there was replay review.

I know that the Muskie game was absolutely disgusting defensively, but I think some of the vitriol towards the defense is based off of that showing.  If the effort/motivation/intensity/energy against JCU is the same as it was against Muskie and Otterbein, then we have much, much, much bigger program problems.

I'm sure JCU is a better team than in week 3, most playoff caliber teams are.  But some of this JCU "improvement" could be attributed to playing the garbage portion of the OAC and a playoff team that would fit in the bottom half of the conference.

We'll see what the value of the first round bye and multiple weeks to prepare for JCU is for Mount.  Dartt scares the hell out of me, but Mount should beat JCU once again.

39-3-2

Well, we have beat ya twice and tied you once during our time together in the OAC, and we have given you many excellent regular season tests that resulted in losses, Our playoff games have not been very memorable.

Raiders big.

I keep checking! Haven't seen anything.

I just bought my tickets!

Looking forward to a great game.... hopefully more pressure is put on JCU than the first game. This game is going to go the way of the offense and defensive lines and they better be ready! Go Ders!

Season ticket holders can get them now and non season ticket holders at 8am on Friday.
Haven't purchased mine yet.
Is kickoff at noon?

speaking of tickets...charging for student tickets?  what are we doing?  the few that will be around should be applauded and paid for.  and God willing the Raiders win, the school should try to figure out how to bring in as many students as possible for the next round.  the football culture at Mount sure has changed

The NCAA requires it -- in the past, has Mount Union just paid the bill for each student admission? (That is fairly common.)

Got it -- I'm more well-versed in Mount Union's brunch than its habits of buying tickets for students for playoff games.

I think I was banned from the brunch because last time I went, they lost. (Rowan, 1999.)

Fun fact about St. Ignatius Loyola (founder of the Jesuits), before he became a priest, he was severely wounded in battle trying to charge at a cannon single handed.
That's the kind of spirit we need Saturday lol  ;D

Doesn't really matter, students never show up to the game after Thanksgiving (since most are not on campus) it's always the most poorly attended playoff game. HOPEFULLY this year it's different because of the opponent. I'm a data nerd so I actually have a spreadsheet tracking UMU home game playoff attendance since 2010:

Round 1 Average: 1539
Round 2 Average: 1486
Round 3 Average: 2420
Round 4 Average: 2658

Other fun facts, the highest attendance was the 2015 semi-final against UWW, 6147 official count (which is like 600 over the stadium listed capacity.

Second most was 2014 against JCU at 4798.

No playoff run has averaged over 2000 attendance since 2015 either.

hsbsballcoach7

FYI, I'm not a season ticket holder and I was able to get tickets this morning.

Raider 68

Hopefully the small number of attendees at Saturday's game can huddle together since the high
temperature is forecasted to be 28 degrees. ???

Dr. Acula

The combo of Thanksgiving weekend and OSU vs Michigan playing at the same time is not going to help attendance overall.

bluestreak66

According to Logan Hansen, this projects to be the closest game this weekend. I don't know if I can handle this pressure lol

The website says all athletic events are free but the app shows $4 for student tickets... so not sure. No that it matters to me, I'll just keep forking over my $10

"Mount Union students can attend all Mount Union athletic events for free.
For football, students should enter near the Chapel on the Northeast corner of the stadium and present their Purple Plus card for entry.
The free ticket for students is specifically for the student section in the end-zone. If a student wishes to sit in a reserved seats in the stands, they must purchase a reserved seat ($10)"

raiderpa

FYI The brunch is $10...I was interested to see the data on playoff attendance, thanks.  The Ohio State-Michigan game kicking off at the same time will have a bearing on the crowd as well. I have talked to a number of folks who are staying home for that BIG 10 (16) game...I will be interested to see the predictions from the D3 staff as they are always fair and usually spot on...

Students get in free for all regular season sporting events.  NCAA playoff games there is a charge.  I think it's basically like high school sports where the OHSAA dictates that the schools charge admission for tournament games.
