DeShields has done an admirable job but the deeper you get the more valuable the ability to extend and make plays with your legs becomes IMO.  But if Beaudrie isn't healthy you have to stick with DeShields though.  He's shown he can win.

rscl70

Beaudrie was dressed and on the sidelines Saturday.  He seemed to be moving very well.  The longer he has to heal the better.  Stick with DeShields until necessity dictates otherwise.

Yeah, was a big miss! Glad you had enough confidence in the team to wait until after the game to call out the prediction for being too pessimistic  ;).

Happy for the Mount Union fans, but like other people on this thread have said, this was easily their best performance of the season. Far from being broken, I think the model did what it was supposed to do setting a baseline expectation. It wouldn't make sense for a computer model to predict outlier performances.

All a model can do is take what has happened so far and use it to project what will happen next, Fido0650, and your post is the perfect example of the data that has gone into the model this season.

Also... to be fair the model did CORRECTLY pick the winner of the game.

Purple Raiders looked great--they definitely came out ready to play ball!  Echeverry is a tough runner and so fun to watch.  Kmic is my all-time favorite Raider, but Echeverry is moving up the list.
GO RAIDERS!!!

Had a 50/50 chance of picking the correct winner. 🥱
He will have the same 50/50 chance of picking the correct winner again this week. 🥱

I just want to throw out there that the big names came up big like you need them to in playoff games (Moore, Echeverry, Brown, M.Jackson, Sanders, entire Oline, etc) but so did players like Buggs, Yannsens, Jazz Jackson, Factor, Arthur, Rinard.... it was a total team effort. It's going to take a similar effort as CMUs defense is very aggressive and flies around the field and putting pressure on the QB. Their special teams also likes to come after punts and turn the game that way.

Buggs starting at CB was a surprise, but he played a whale of a game. Same with Rinard getting in there for way more PT than in the regular season, he pretty much stonewalled that 4th and short JCU wildcat run just across midfield.

That was the best Mount Union performance in the Dartt era, they should be a confident, dangerous group heading to the 3rd round.

I really like the downfield play-action passing attack that Deshields brings to the Mount offense.  Defenses no doubt will be creeping up and up with the Mount rushing attack, the deep shots and attacking the middle of the field will be there.  Loved all the shifts and motion on the Raiders offense last week.

CMU has some definite size up front on both OL and DL, but I'm not sure that they have seen total team speed like Mount this season.  It's only one game, but CMU will have to play significantly better on offense than against Centre if they want to beat Mount.  Mount's defense should have chances for a turnovers if they can speed up the CMU QB

Just wanted to say congrats Mount. This rivalry has been fun these past 10 years (I am sure some of you will say it is not a rivalry, but then again I could be wrong. It's hard to call something a rivalry when it's been one sided, even with most of them being one score games)... I know we've gotten A LOT of grief from people about our leaving the OAC, and while none of us truly know the decision, I am hopeful that it will still allow these games to continue in the future... Best of luck the rest of the way.

Lastly, if you could do me a solid, and keep kicking the S*** out of that school in Berea, I would be most appreciative. While I "hate" Mount, I respect you all and the program; the same cannot be said for them. That and they are the loudest ones screaming "JCU is running away from Mount", the irony since they haven't beaten us since the FIRST Obama administration, but that's typical I suppose. Anyway, my monologue is over. I'll still be around, just on a new conference board I suppose. Take Care gang!

Thanks BlueStreaks70.  From the first time we played JCU, I believe at Brush High School, I have always been looking forward to playing JCU. You beat us that day with a D1 QB transfer. The Streaks  always brought the best out in the Raiders, because we respect the effort and class with which they always played.  I doubt Mount will schedule you in the future as most in power are still stinging from your leaving the OAC, however, keep making the post season and we will look forward to future match-ups. I believe the 3OT thriller 20 years ago was the best game I have seen since the early 70's when I attended Mount Union as a student.  The basketball rivalry has also been a great watch the past few years. I look forward to you possibly getting B-W on the schedule as an opener in the future. It would be good for the fans and for the pocket of the Athletic Departments.

"Streak Week" has been one of the only regular season games I've attended (I'm usually just a playoff goer) It's definitely a good rivalry, even though the W-L was lopsided. JCU certainly pushed the Raiders and made me very nervous.
