How did Capital sneak into Riverhawk uniforms?
It wasn't easy but you have to give Capital credit for pulling it off.
A bigger question is what did Capital do with the real Susquehanna team?

Eeeeyuhhh... The first Stagg Bowl that I took my Wife to!  She was banned until 2015.

Just a small tidbit, in 2003 Mount Union had a great year, blowing out everyone, had a few D1 players and won on of their playoff games by 60 points (maybe the semi-final). They faced a very good St. John's team and lost in the Stagg bowl. Hope NC reads their press clippings and resembles the 2003 Mount team in the Stagg. Could it happen, yes since no team has yet to challenge them this year. Maybe Mount has the opportunity?

I still say that was the most talented - top to bottom- team Mount has put on the field. Mount played that last game lime the Trophy was already engraved. Gagliardi said after that St Johns decided Mount could either pass OR run - but they werent letting them do both. Made them one dimensional. I also remember that was the only time I ever contacted LK before a game. I emailed from the Middle East that my unit followed the games and posted scores on our boards. He took time out to reply - and that is why Mount lost. I wont contact him again. 😞

Quote from: BergAlum2 on December 21, 2024, 07:51:27 PMI hope Ohio State plays like North Central tonight  ;D
It seems like the Buckeys turn it on for a quarter then turn it off for a quarter.  Hopefully they keep it turned on for the fourth quarter

Buckeyes must be saving the Ryan Day special for the game against Oregon 😂

The turning point in that Stagg Bowl, in my opinion and if my feeble mind remembers what my eyes saw, was the 90+ interception return right at the end of the first half, running over a MUC defender at the 5-yard line.  "Eyes closed" argument ... LOL! ... Reality Check remembers.
Supposedly, the "Master" (Coach Gagliardi) also had Minnesota Viking support regarding Mount Union tendencies with regard to play calling in situations faced.  (Think of that line in "Remember the Titans" when the math teacher did the same for the football program against the coach of "Marshall" high school in the movie).  Let's hope North Central is getting Chicago Bear's football mind's support ... LOL!

I contacted LK about a player at my Daughter's high school in the late '90s.  There was supposedly conversation, but he ended up staying close to home and playing at Earlham College.  That worked well for the program.

If Mount Defense plays Jan 5 like they did today, they may need 72 to win...

Pat Coleman

You're conflating two plays. The one at the end of the first half is a running play on which St. John's passes up a field goal opportunity. The 100-yard pick six is in the fourth quarter.

Congratulations to Mt making it back to the Stagg. I believe Mt has the athletes and toughness to make this Stagg a great game.

Congratulations Mount!! You found a way to win a hard-fought game! Now get your heads and Azzs wired together and do the same to NC!!  You're in the Stagg!!

Hence the caveat, "and if my feeble mind remembers..."
I went back and read the game recap on d3football.com and it all became vividly clear to me again.  My Bad, Pat ... Sorry!

However, to set the record straight, I have not conflated since being prescribed that spastic colon medication.

well, they scored at will on what the D3 "analytics" told me was one of the greatest D3 defenses of the modern era. "rarified air" and "best in a decade" I believe were thrown around.

Play with poise, limit negative plays and turnovers and don't piss down your leg at the start of the game a la Susquehanna and '22 Stagg Bowl will be key.  Can't get into a big hole against NCC.  Make it a physical game, drag them out into deeper waters and see if they can swim.  This Mount squad has a knack for not flinching in big moments.

There is literally next to zero pressure on the Raiders in Houston.  NCC is the greatest superpower ever seen in D3 led by the quarterback who invented college football.  Their five year stretch is something that has never been seen before and definitely was not aided a great deal by a pandemic.  Five straight Stagg Bowls?!?!? I mean come on, that's unheard of.  They will probably keep that up for 10, maybe 11 straight years. "Red is the new Purple"

That victory last night just earned Ryan Day a $150K bonus.
