After watching the Raider highlights from the semis - I do hope Mr Claus brought them "How to make open field tackles". Its a wonderful read. I saw countless missed tackles in the secondary, bad angles, and a complete lack of appreciation for physics. When their TE is 6-2 and 250 (whatever he was he was big) and you are a 5-9 200lb DB - unless your name is Steve Atwater - you dont take him on at the shoulder pads. I just saw a lack of fundamentals. The O looked better with Deshields than it has with Beaudrie but the D gave up a lot of points to a weak offense. We need to get back to the key philosophy at Mount - block, tackle, catch (or was it run, pass, stance? Footwork, form, pursuit? Ham, cheese, bread?) Whatever the Steak guys said - we have to get back to basics or this will be a bad look (having nightmares of the UWW run-away train game). Roll Raiders ~ Roll!

Your point still stands but there's no way Mounts CBs are 5-9 200lbs that's like near d1 size. I'm thinking 175lbs max

[Logan] Hansen Ratings has NCC as a 17-point favorite (projected score of 41-24; 85% chance to win).

I checked a few of the computer predictions and Hansen Ratings seem to be the least in favor of Mount ;D

Trying to setup the final round of the OAC pick-em.

Is it safe to assume Deshields will be the starting QB?

Absolutely he's healthy and you don't want to change what got you to the game in the first place. However we will likely see much more Beadriue in the title game than we have in the past

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.  Wishing everyone health and happiness also seems like a good way to honor MUC57.  Always positive and excited whether it was a Mount playoff game or it was August and he had just been standing around watching a practice or any game of any D3 team for that matter!  The world always needs more people like 57.

Not football related, but since we are on a little break I thought I'd mention for anyone in need of some Raider action that the Mount hoops team is playing in the D3hoops.com Classic in Vegas this weekend.  Sat at 6pm and Sun at 4pm with both games streamed

I plan on watching them from home. Fuline has this team playing active defense and they move the ball well on offense. They have lots of guys who can score double digits each game. Their 2 losses are to Yeshiva and Wooster in close games. Both of those teams are pretty good.

Stagg Bowl talk here:
How does the Mount defense try to stop or slow the NCC offense?
Their Oline is huge and athletic and Lehnen is a beast running the ball, opening up play action and extending plays. Do you play aggressive and take a chance on giving up big plays? Need a big game from the Dline (Moore,Brown,Factor,Harris, and backups) with contain/pressure when appropriate.... and don't miss tackles.

Offensively, Mount has found their MOJO with formations and finding matchups that benefit our skill set. Keep them off balance and on their heels with mix of run and pass. Oline needs to control the line of scrimmage and enforce their will.... control the game.

Special teams - Mount needs to come out positive here to play complimentary football. When is the last time Mount has blocked a punt or returned one for a TD?

Mount MUST match the NCC intensity without getting personal fouls. NCC is extremely chippy and you can use this against them with over aggressive play.

NCC is a great team, but with poised play and continual improvement of play calling, I like our chances. For those saying NCC is unbeatable, it's time we find a way to win as an underdog like what has happened to us in previous Stagg Bowls.

I'm interested to hear other takes on the game. Hopefully there will be a good crowd in Houston. I really wish this game were in Salem or Canton.
