I honestly don't care all that much about either FBS school, lets talk about Sunday's game!

Just read an article about a transfer to Whitewater from D1 Pitt. QB Jake Frantl from Erin, Wisconsin originally. Was part of the 2021 recruiting class. All state accolades in 2019. But it said he never played at Pitt. Had 2900 yds passing and 35 tds his senior year. 6' 0" 205.Just an FYI for next year.

Four seasons at Pitt as a walk-on and never saw the field. Meh

I'm sure he'll be ok at this level and elevate UWW slightly. But Pitt's QB situation was a mess in 2024. And he never saw the field. In fact, the 4th stringer was the QB that almost led Pitt to a W over Candle-led Toledo in their bowl game.

C'mon man, don't stomp out our hope. Don't you miss purple on the other side of the field at the Stagg Bowl?

I think an interesting thing to watch is how Mount plans to deal with God's gift to college football.  Against Salisbury, Rossy dropped back into a Safety-ish spot to spy the QB, could we see something similar against Lehnen?

Pass rush lanes are going to be super important; everybody wants to make Lehnen a pocket passer, but it will not be easy. Kaleb, Rossy and Factor all are superb at getting after the QB, but they will have to play with great discipline on Sunday to limit the QB leaking out on key passing downs.

or do you play to let Lehnen "get his" but try to shut down everyone else?

the offense getting off to a good (even decent start) will hopefully be something that the coaches have been preparing for, can't put up an 0-fer in the first half and get down by 21 again.

Recommendation from a football idiot - I'd sell-out to stop the run (the RBs and Lehnen) and try to make them beat you throwing from the pocket. The WR core does not have "a guy" like they've had the last few years and struggle to create separation on occasion. Lehnen isn't Rutter or Boyes or Syverson in the pocket and he has shown recently (Springfield) that he can have an off game. Unfortunately for Springfield that wasn't punished bc their offense happened to play right to NCC's defensive strength.

100% agree with this, but the problem for Mount is that their secondary has been a problem all year.  They lost their Senior #1 CB/All-OAC type guy suffered a season ender in the first game.  Liebler has stepped into a starting CB role and looks like a future AA, but still just a true frosh.  Their CB2 (extremely talented) has been a liability and/or in and out via injury (Buggs).

They came into the preseason with 3 senior Safeties, but one did not come back for a 5th year after being listed on the Spring roster.  Hopefully he's experiencing success in his career.  Weston Arthur has shown a lot a promise, athleticism, etc but he's not a senior.

It's been a bit of a patch-work secondary, their "ups" are great, see playoffs vs JCU, and their "downs" are less than great

Sounds very similar to NCC's issues in the secondary. Sounds like we may see another shootout!

will Saturday Sunday's game feature the oldest combine QB matchup of all time in D3FB?  Maybe there was a Paul Blake type at some point, but DeShields vs Lehnen seems like a game that should be over and in bed by 8:00 rather than just kicking off

I would've assumed the great Rocky Pentello from Capital had that record locked up, I swear he was 24 or 25 when we played him in the playoffs in '06.
