Greetings OAC,
Anybody have any insight on Marietta this year?  We are driving up from Richmond, VA to watch the wasps play the pioneers and would like to know what we will be seeing?  I saw they have a good running back in Wagner.  Anything else you can tell me about the field, tailgating, the Team would be appreciated.

Does anyone have any thoughts about Wooster-Muskingum.  I personally think Wooster may get a surprise. Muskingum seemed to be a much better team than their final numbers indicated last year, although COW handled them pretty much at Wooster. Hey, just one of the intriging matchups we get opening week before we go back to beating up each other in conference play.

Just want to remind everyone, that if interested....all Ohio Northern games will be broadcast on 94.9fm...you can also listen on the internet,
at www.onu.edu/wonb...you need realplayer, but there is a free download on their website. Pregame starts at 12:30pm...guys doing the games are pretty decent...with coaches interviews and everything. GO Bears......FYI...story is that the new Westminster coach Hand, wouldn't give up game tapes.....and yet they have tapes of Northern...sounds a little shady to me. Weekend should be beautiful for football. Good luck to all...and let the fun begin!

EHCFAN,
Marietta is hosting "The River City Bowl."  There will be free burgers, dogs and drinks (pepsi) starting at 5:30 outside the stadium for all fans.  They are also giving T-shirts to the first 1000 fans through the gate.  The field surface is the new field turf and only a year old.  As for the team, they return a good majority of the offensive starters from last year.  The whole O-line I believe is back and as you mentioned Wagner returns at RB hoping to improve on last season, as well as the starting QB.  The defense lost some solid LB and DB's, but have good young talent that has experience that should be able to step in and fill those vacancies.  On special teams, we lost the NCAA D3 all time leading returner, but there is another good fast returner that should be able to handle the duties of returning kicks.  I hope to see a very good game and don't really know what to expect from E & H, I know they return Woods at QB and their top 3 receivers, but it looks like the defense was not that great last year.  Again, good luck and safe play to all those competeing and safe travels to those travelling to the games.

Maybe we just don't like Division III football anymore. :-\

I would like to inform everyone on the board that all my friends and their families back down in Mississippi are safe. It is a very erie feeling knowing that I was at the Superdome only 10 months ago (Jamal's first TD) and perhaps the last Mardis Gras (for a long time) 7 months ago.

Please pray for everyone affected by Katrina as well as those serving their country at the far corners of the world.

RC- CJ is now 1-1 after defeating Day. Carrol last night 9-0. They lost their opener to Northmont 28-14.

OhioFootball,

Glad to hear your family is safe.  My family made it out also, but the wedding which was to take place in December is cancelled.  I can't believe in watching and reading the news what those stranded down in New Orleans are going through....

polarbearman,

Re:  Game tape exchange (or lack thereof)

The only tape they could use is of Westminnie's scrimmages...new coach, new system but count on Coach Paul to have other sources of finding Waynesburg film to see what Hand does...and expect him to not call the dogs off if they get a big lead.

Beacon Jornal says Mount is starting both Mason and Jorris. Here we go again.
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

It will be a fun season if Jorris or Mason can get the ball to #1. Nice defense Washington. Some good, young players on the field for Mount.

Strange opening game with MUC today. Almost felt like a scrimmage. LK and staff rotated players often and early as if still searching for starters at a number of positions.

I couldn't see any separation at the QB spot. Morring the freshman RB from FLA seems like a possible challanger to Robinson at TB and a host of new wideouts were worked in the 4- man WR spread offense. Also interesting that most of the game Mount went with a no huddle with plays being signaled in.

Positives seem to be the defense which still looks good and very fast. Garcon (#1) seemto be Mount's version of T. Ginn Jr....very fast and game breaker. Lots of talented underclassmen played and look raw but also good at times. Also looks like a quality place kicking game is present as well.

Negatives seem to be some poor choices by both Jorris and Mason. (each one throwing ill advised interceptions in the end zone) Neither one seemed in control and very little downfield and vertical passing displayed. With the 4 WR offense, they are subject to the blitz (which WU effectively did today) and need to make quick decisions.

Hard to evaluate the today's oopenent. WU seems well coached and did play a good game today. MUC will certainly have to improve to win the OAC title as the conference is as strong as ever. I'm sure LK and Co will sort out the position wars for the JC game. Looks like an exciting season on the horizon with some new and talent players about to explode on the scene.
