Unfortunately, according to coltspower.com the Colts have waived Tom Arth.    Looks like they gave him some time in the big loss to the Bengals, but most of the game was played by Sorgi.   Tom had no TDs but no INT's either.  It looked likely in the last week or two that they would only go with 2 QBs on the depth chart.   Tough roster to break into at QB with a horse like Peyton Manning there.   Maybe the Bears can pick him up . . . another guessing game at QB for us again this year.

Dunno, Toph -- we've seen Mount have close openers before and then steamroll the rest of the way, aka 2002.

I'm not saying that Mount can't steamroll the rest of the competition, my only contention is that there was little if anything yesterday to suggest that they would (history or no history).

The statistics paint a totally different picture of the Mount game than the score does. Does not appear it was that close, only that Mount failed to dominate. nbd
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Mount's offense line, which is experienced, did little to show that this will be a better year ( #8).   I was disappointed in their progress.  There is not a "special' runner yet  in the program that has played..  There is a special receiver (#1) ,  look out if the QB and #1 get in going.  Also Scott Casto did what the O line didn't do, become a major asset and step up big time.   The Defense showed it can   become excellent again.  I know the QB position will get better, I was not disappointed in either one.  Remember in the 4th quarter of the MHB game Mount could not get one first down to put the game away.  The line got handled.  This will be a good team, but when you talk Mount FB it is getting to the Stagg that is what it is all about.   When Mount can run the ball the O becomes very dangerous and now controls the game.

Toph this is not to comment on your opinion about the rest of the way, that is yet to be determined.  But I assume by your comments were made based only on the final score?

Mount fumbled the opening kickoff and threw two interceptions on the goal line with the line of scrimmage the opponents ten.  Very uncharacteristic of Mount, but lets not forget two knew QB's.  Anyway two touchdowns there instead of turnovers and its 47-7 against a quality team.

I was at the game yesterday.  I saw some things I liked about the Mount O, and some things I didn't, and if you look on page 19 or 20 I wrote about how I expect Mount to be much improved (in terms of offensive cohesiveness, limiting turnovers...etc) in two weeks.  However, to simply say that they will flat out dominate the rest of the way as raider4505 did is a bit premature I think.  The number of penalties was what would concern me.  I think you can attribute some of that to "first game jitters" maybe, but throughout the game Mount was racking up procedure penalties and false starts (the 7 man ref crew even missed a few Mount false starts if you ask me).  That being said, your 2005 OAC champions...the Mount Union Purple Raiders, everybody.

Washington U. is probably the best team in the UAA, but out of conference last year they went 2-4 (with of course, one loss to Mount Union).

Toph I wasn't trying to change your mind or anything I was just pointing out the turnovers and the fact they did put up 450 yards of offense.  I thought the officiating was inconsistent at best, two very blantent holds on the Wash Oline where not called in pass coverage and a couple of those calls by the back judge that threw a flag 30 yards had me scratching my head.  At any rate I was disappointed in the turnovers and the lack of success on 3rd down more than the score being "only" 33-7.

MUCFball

amonachino- The Oline did not seem to get things going in the game at all.  I dont know whether to say its the first game in a new offensive system or just they didnt come to play.  Both Qb's showed that they can play. Also, the two special players on offense come at the WR spot with #24 Casto (9 catches and many good punt returns) and #1 Garcon (7 catches and a nice KO return although he fumbled)  If these 2 can step up in the future games, as I think they can, this will give way for the pass to open up the run.

Defense played EXTREMELY well......

Then they still miss hscoach's spread.  I would be happy either way.   ;D

MUC- Has anyone thought about the new system being a reason there were some inconsistencies in the opener?

RC- Coach English is a good friend of mine. He joined the staff I believe 2 years ago.

MUCFball

ohio- i think that may be one reason aside from the fact that it was the first game.  There were some bright spots as I stated before (def, WR's, Ibeh played well) I think things should come together.  We will see in 2 weeks when they take on JCU, whose defense is always in the top tier of the league.

It looks like former ONU back Jamal Robertson made the final cut with the Carolina Panthers.  Hopefully he will get to show a bit more this season.

I know that "IF's" are not allowed here, but let's say Ric's right and they don't throw the 2 INT's in the end zone.  That puts it at 47-7, which means MUC was a scrub time TD in the waning seconds from hitting my 46.5 point spread on the head!

I don't know about you, but I feel much better about myself now ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

jdean, can you really compare the OAC to the NCAC?...90 plus on a roster to whatever...its not the same situation...
