Mount Union's games played at John Carroll have been very close throughout the years than the ones played in Alliance. Since the Blue Streaks joined the OAC in 1989, the Purple Raiders are 7-1 playing on the road in the series, but each game has been a battle...

7-31 LOSS (1989)
13-7 (1990)
24-14 (1992)
10-7 JCU went for a TD instead of kicking a short FG once (1994)
27-9 rain and 32 miserable day (1996)
57-51 3OT nuff said (1999)
33-30 remarkable catch on last minute drive (2001)
34-16 biggest margin of victory lately at JCU in series (2003)

But one thing that would bother me if I were a Blue Streak fan, since we're talking about OAC awards, there is only ONE guy on the two-deep that made All-OAC last year and that was Fanelli at 2nd team.  Oing was named second team in '03 but not last year.  That is an amazing stat to me.

I'm looking for a good game.

Keep in mind that Oing missed the last 2 games of the season with a concussion last season.  As for the rest of the returning players not being on the All-OAC team, Motley is a preseason All-American, and other members of the defense played behind a lot of great players last year (Coyne, Fink, Cua, King).  I don't need to go into any detail about JCU's offensive struggles last season (Otterbein shut them out as you recall) so it should be no surprise that no offensive players got OAC honors.

The defense looked great against Hope, and both coaches (Scafe and LK) told me that they felt defense would be the key in this one.  I just hope the offense can do enough to get past the Raidahs.

Be thankful OAC'ers

Be thankful as football fans you follow this wonderful sport in a state that cares about it.  Be thankful that you can find accurate and updated schedules for your local teams.

I attempted to see my first high school football game in Connecticut tonight.  I had heard that the neighboring town had a blue chip QB worth seeing.  He threw for 2600 yards last season as a junior so I thought it might be a good game to watch.  Neither the Hartford Courant nor the New Haven Register (the two largest papers in the state) have a preview section or space on their respective websites for schools and schedules.  I asked a few friends at my gym where to find local high school schedules and they collectively shrugged their shoulders.  I was told to try the school's individual homepage, but they list nothing regarding football.  I eventually found a fansite for the opposing school.  It was last updated in MARCH of this year and the schedule there was for the 2004 season.  I found a second site (yesterday) after some more seaching and it did indeed have a 2005 schedule.  I came to find out the game was tonight at 7:00 and the field is within walking distance from my home.  Things were finally looking up for me.  So I packed up, headed to the game tonight, and arrived to a dark and empty stadium.  Upon checking online this evening, I found out the game time and date had been updated since I cheked online last night and will now be played tommorrow evening instead.  There was no communication in the newspapers or on the news.  High school football just doesn't seem to matter here.

Be thankful that Ohio cares about football gentlmen.  You don't know how good you have it until you go see what it's like elsewhere.

Instead of caring about football, could Connecticut be using its energy and other resources caring about other things?

MUCFball

Ah, the thing that makes me happy is that everyone is concerned about #1 when #24 (Casto) and #28 (Morring) arent even mentioned.  Garcon, good as he may be has good company on his side of the ball.  If the Streaks shut down one WR, the other is open.  As was evident against Wash. U (Garcon-  7 grabs, Casto 9 catches)  I cannot wait until tomorrow.
GO RAIDERS!

Just a reminder...that everyone can tune into Ohio Northern vs. Baldwin-Wallace on b94.9fm wonb. you can also listen on the internet...by going to www.onu.edu/wonb. pregame coverage begins at 1:00 and kickoff at 1:30. should be a fun day for the oac...good luck to all. GO BEARS

and they definitely don't care about having convicts on their basketball team...

Safe travels to all making the trip to U-Heights this afternoon.

ONU has live game stats on their webpage for today's game.  It is amazing how far we have come with all this technology.  Live webcasts and real-time game stats.

Also, flipping back and forth from the ONU pregame webcast to the BW pregame webcast, it looks like BW has a QB shuffle planned for today too.  I guess Deangelo has turf toe and his health is in question?!?

ONU down 14-0 on a fumble returned for a TD and a sustained drive culminating in a short TD pass.  Polar Bears look real rusty right now.

Capital 7 - Otterbein 2 with 6 minutes to go in the first half. Cap just had a goal line stand to hold Otterbein out of the endzone with an INT, but fumbled coming out of the endzone and fell on it for a safety.  I did hear Lenhart's name, so he is playing for Otterbein this weekend.

Where is ONU's secondary? BW kicks a FG for a 17-0 lead.

reality check

Things haven't been great so far jdean but the d has only given up 44 yards so far through the air and the BW QB has a 33% completion percentage.

The appropriate question at this point is, "Where is the ONU offense and special teams?"
