Your right Pat, but I just got -2 for the last one! :-\

Maybe they were big "D" fans!! ;D

While I'm in here, looks like the "Big Purple" is back to their old ways!!!

Not necessarily -- you could be getting karma for any of your posts on the board, remember. There are people who only catch up on posts every few days.

I never put words in your mouth.  You seemed to be dismissing the win by JCU against ONU by saying the Trusnik was out with an injury, especially in your post where you talked about the stats with and without him.  I was merely asking you if you really thought that Trusnik takes 25 points off the board.  I didn't mean to get you so fired up (except for maybe the roll raiders jab, but I hit a lot of Mount Union fans with that type of stuff).  If you listened to my broadcasts you would know that I work hard to produce a quality product.  Tune in sometime.

I have to agree with you, the last couple of weeks seemed to have been a heck of an emotional drain on the Polar Bears.  The loss of
Trusnik probably hurts in the pass rush department as much as anything.  The D.End position started out to be one of depth, but Jason is the third DE the Bears have lost thus far this season.
Being at the JCU fiasco, lack of pass rush was obvious.  Take nothing away from JCU, they played a very good ballgame.  ONU "D" couldn't get off the field on third down and the offense was inconsistent at best.  The Bears, for whatever reason, just didn't seem ready to play.
On a side note, the Blue Streaks played a very good football game, but the profanity-laced chants, directed at the Bear faithful in the latter part of the game, were classless and uncalled for.  I can take the "over-rated " chant, but the other stuff....It definitely tarnished a good win for the Blue Streaks.  I may be wrong, but I sure didn't hear anything last year when the Bears beat JCU in Ada.

139eagle--

I have to agree with you about the lack of class on the part of many of the fans--especially the students.  I am not just talking about any one school either.  The T-shirts that some of the Mount students were wearing for the JCU week were disgusting and extremely rude and inappropriate.  And this is not the first time, or the first year, that similar shirts have appeared.  When did it become okay to chant obscenities and wear clothing that publicly derided the other teams sexual prowess or proclivities?

One way to deal with it is to confront the offenders from our own sides--I have given several students here at Mount an earful about the message that their t-shirt sends about their own lack of class.  I asked one student if his mother would approve of the shirt and he shame facedly said no---Our society seems to have degraded to the level of the lowest common denominator, with a total lack of respect for other human beings and a lack of understanding of what it means to be a respectful competitor.

I could rant on, but I think you get my point.

If Cap runs the table what are their chances of getting into the playoffs?

ONU losing to JCU is as bad as COE losing to KNOX!  Come on Bears, you have got to be kidding me.

KO HAWK - First, I never referred to you as an ONU fan.  Second, from the post quoted above, "Come on Bears,  . . ." perhaps I misconstrued that to be cheering on a team, i.e. sure sounded like a comment from a fan.  I guess I read that post wrong.

Enjoy the rest of the season supporting but not being a fan of ONU.

cufan and rc,

Remember though the play-offs are expanded to 32 teams.  A two loss team in a tough conference such as the OAC might get in, if the NCAA is interested in getting the best teams into the play-offs.

As good as every other team in the OAC that has gone 9-1 in the regular season.  History would suggest that if CAP runs the table, that they would follow in the footsteps of ONU (99,00), JCU (02), BW (03).

Cap would have 2 losses if they run the table though.

fat_old_LB

right now  the teams with the best chance to run the table are JCU and Otterbein.  Ott already beat cap, if history shows us anything, they always have given bw a tough time, even beating them a few times in the last 8 years.  if they come in and knock off BW, they are 4-1, only loss to Mount.  They will have tough games with JCU and ONU so time will tell.  JCU got thrashed by mount, but then rebounded and brought home a great victory against Northern.  i didnt go to either schools, but i am a big fan of the OAC and hope that at least 1 of these 2 goes 9-1 so we can have some braggin rights as they fly through the playoffs.  personally i would like to see ott go the farthest...when was the last time the cards have been in the playoffs???????

My bad.  I forgot about CAP's loss to OTT.  I guess I was thinking that they should never have lost that game i the first place.

Let me revise my statement.  The expansion of the playoffs will give an 8-2 OAC team a chance but there is still plenty to be worried about if you are the OAC runner-up with an 8-2 mark.  If OTT can go 7-3 or so and WITT gets their crap together, then that helps CAP's chances as an 8-2 at-large I would think.

Re: running the table

The only possible way a team goes 9-1 in the OAC this season is if somehow ONU regroups and beats Mount.  I do not see it happening if things don't dramatically improve after this week's showing so don't go nuts on me saying I am predicting a takedown.   They have lots of work to do for that to happen.

OTT will not beat JCU at U Heights and JCU has to win two very tough road games in the final two weeks of the season.

Don't forget that the Streaks are probably still stinging from that 24-0 loss at Ott last year.
I think that the remainder of JCU's season will be very exciting.  Obviously, I'm a little biased and think that JCU can win every game left on the schedule, but we'll see what happens.

Fat old lb

OTT has been in the OAC since 1921 without interruption.  In that time their last OAC chapionship came in 1946.  Their last winning season prior to the 7-3 finish 1999 came all the way back in 1982.  They haven't had much success in their long history in the OAC.

In 1946, the runner-up in the OAC was Toledo.  There were 18 teams in the OAC that year.

ELee:
"...if the NCAA is interested in getting the best teams into the playoffs." I never gotten the impression the NCAA was ever interested in that. Their attitude seemed to be those that had the best record, whether they played the Sister of the Poor or Mount. were selected. It appears they didn't want to defend the selection of a a very strong 8-2 team
over an 9-0 or 9-1 weakling (based on the teams they played). I suppose this expansion could result in more of the good record but weak teams than the 2nd place teams in strong conferences. Hope I'm wrong.
