Quoting the BW radio guys...

"The Yellow Jackets have a streak to worry about.  They need to get back to their winning ways..."

Seriously, kiss it goodbye BW.  You are 2-3 overall and need three wins against ETTA, CAP, JCU and MUC.  Does anyone else see where the three wins will come from?

Shoot for 5-5 and maybe you can tweak the streak: 38 consecutive non-losing seasons.

Mr. Ypsi

mtfan,

I'm not sure I would describe 45-20 (and much closer during most of the game) as Howard Payne getting 'trashed'.  I doubt MHB will drop below about 8-9.

But, yes, I would assume MUC will take over at #2 (unless HS's win now looks so impressive that they jump MUC, but I doubt that scenario).

I guess I was among the ones who miss read BW's early OT win over Allegheny. I didn't realize that four weeks later Allegheny would be in last place in the NCAC. Jackets are on their way to their worst season in the modern era. THE STREAK has been gone for a couple of weeks. They could lose out at the rate they are playing. Glad they don't have to play Kenyon.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

my bad on the Hardin-Simmons/HP score, thot it was 54-20, but sure makes for things to become more interesting down that way now.  I wonder if Trinity is going to hold up for a shot again in the playoffs?

mtfan

Pat,
I was wondering if the doubleheader like Northwestern(Minn) had yesterday has ever happened before? Didn't look like either game was a tough contest but Wow, sure would would sure make for a long day. Winning both though would have to be a great feeling.

Pat Coleman

Not in the modern history of football. I have a hunch it probably happened back in the 19th century a few times, but it's just a hunch.

The results for Week 6 and the games for Week 7 have been posted in the OAC Pick-Em's page.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Please forgive me for interjecting something into the board that is not D3 Football, but "Ohio" football none the less...
The Browns-Bears match-up was not on TV down here in Bossier City-Shreveport, so I tried to follow it on the web.  After a boring field goal display in the first half, I decided to make a run to Lowe's and Home Depot (been in the new house two weeks now).  I have just returned home and immediately checked Yahoo! Sports to check the outcome of the game, and was pleased to see that the Browns won another one.  Reading the game article on Yahoo! Sports, linked to the home page scoreboard, I could not stop laughing after reading this:

"Phil Dawson's 44-yard field goal with 37 seconds left in the second quarter gave Cleveland a 6-3 halftime lead, concluding 30 minutes of offensive ineptitude by both teams.
One of the biggest ovations of the afternoon came during a Pee Wee football game at half when one of the youngsters broke free on a long scoring run."

Cheers, y'all!!!

New poll is out.

MUC jumps to #2 as expected.

ONU still sits at #21.  They were given five votes more than last week for winning 68-6 over the Berg.  Coe moves ahead of them to the 20 spot after beating Buena Vista 45-14 and gets 80 more votes than they did last week.  Interesting breakdown there.

Cap is sitting just outside the top 25 and is getting votes along with JCU and (drumroll...) OTTERBEIN

RC -
Nice to see that Jamal Robertson had some statistics today, and good ones at that.  I try to check every week, but I want to say it has been several weeks since I last saw his name on the stats sheet.
Today was 3 Kick Returns, 95 yards, 31.7 yard average, with a long of 42.

I was starting to worry about his lack of activity on ST.  Good to see him get some action today.  He hasn't broken one yet as a KR but his numbers have alwas been above the average since his inception with the Niners.

It's good to be back... ;D

Thoughts on the OC-BW game:

The new stadium is impressive. Wow. When are the visitor stands going to be replaced, though?

OC looked sharp in the solid reds and did what they had to do to win. Coach Loth seems to be doing all the right things to return this program to respectability. Linheart is the real deal and the sophomore QB is going to be pretty good. O-line is undersized, but they get the job done. Defensively they were quick and tackled well.

BW is way down on talent from even their 7-3, 6-4 years. No big play receivers, RB is out, 0-line is small and unathletic. Mental showed flashes of greatness, but also made some poor decisions. He was a playmaker in high school, give him some time to develop and add some weapons and he could be a good one. Their defense was pretty good, especially Knipp and #97. He's a beast.

Rhetorical Questions for BW:

1) Why no FG attempt at the end of the half? Can't leave points on the field like that.

2) 2 timeouts in a row came back to haunt them. How on earth does that happen at this level?

3) Why the insistance of running options on 3rd and long?

4) Are Snell's days numbered?

fat_old_LB

its hard to say that his days are numbered...he has been to the playoffs recently and bw is known for sticking with their coaches for a long time.  watts for there for 20+ years, tressel was there for 20+ years, packard was there 20+ years.  it wouldnt look good if he was gone within 5...not good at all.  i think they need to get some better players in there.  snell was the recruiting coordinator when packard was the head guy, so his guys are the ones who went to the playoffs.  now a new coach is doing the recruiting, and talent seems to be missing( mostly on offense).  they just built a new rec center, i was there a few weeks ago and WOW, it is really impressive.  now al lthey need to do is update that turf!!  with these updates, they should be able to compete with recruiting with the likes of capital, jcu and mount again.  if not, then they will continue to fall back, and then yes, his days will be numbered for sure.
Go Eagles!
Go Jackets!

Snell has made a lot of questionable decisions in his tenure at BW.  I can recall last year against JCU he went 4 wide shotgun on 4 straight downs inside the 5 late in a 10-0 game...needless to say, it ended badly for the Jackets.  As for whether or not his days are numbered, I couldn't begin to speculate.  By the way, I always answer rhetorical questions.

Let's see, ONU starts the season ranked 5th wins 2 games and drops to 7th, loses to a JCU team that was 2-1 at the time and drops to 21st.  MHB is ranked 2nd loses to a 1-3 team and only falls to 11th.  Hard to understand the thought process of voters.  Is it just me or is ONU the Rodney Dangerfield or DIII, "no respect"?
