I guess running up the score with 68 points on Helpless Hiedelburg didn't impress the voters as much as Coach Paul thought it would.

They lost badly to a team that lost badly to a team by 70 points. Consider them lucky to be in the top 25 at this point.

I didnt see the ONU/ Berg game but I did see them against Cap and that is a horrible football team.  You could tell them the plays and still score 68 points...

It was 68-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter ONU just cant take a knee for 2 quarters.

ONU had seven scoring drives of three plays or less.  That is MUC-like offense.  ONU didn't run a score up on the BERG as much as the BERG couldn't tackle to save their lives.  Even the backup QB was 3-4 for 2 TD's in his first significant action this season.  What more do you want?  Implying that they ran up the score is just ignorant.

CUFan

It was actually a 14-6 game with the Berg threatening to score when the D intercepted one and ran it back 95 yards for a TD.  It was however 68-6 after three periods.

ONU would have to be undefeated to stay in the top 15 right now.  The appeal process and investigation gave the necessary ammo to send them down in the pack and the loss to JCU just gave voters the reason to justify sending them lower in the rankings.  I expected some fallout when the AFCA voted the way they did and the loss just strenghtens that move.  It is justified in my opinion.

CAP is the lucky one at this point.  They have lost to MUC and OTT and still sit higher than both JCU and OTT in the poll voting.  OTT has beaten them and lost only to MUC.  The rankings should be flip-flopped in my opinion.

You are both correct about the Heidelburg game. Just wanted to see how quickly I could stir the pot, and it didn't take long. After I saw the score of the JCU game I felt sorry for what was coming for the Berg. Coach Paul, although never known to "run it up" on anyone, has been known to "take it out" on someone. I love the loyalty of you Polar Bears. If ONU wins out they go to playoffs. Appeal won't be finalized until the off-season.

They do?  That's hardly certain at this point.

Great to see you both at the game saturday!  My son and I appreciated the opportunity to visit and the refreshments after the game.

btw...did anyone notice that Wilmington's roster includes a running back out of New Jersey named Leroy Kelly Jr.  Yes it's the son of HOF back Leroy Kelly.  I thought it was pretty cool for him to have found his way to the football field's of Ohio.  I would also like to pass along condolences to the Kelly family as I learned that Kelly Jr's uncle Pat Kelly (the former Baltimore Oriole) died unexpectedly of a heart attack last week.

Ramblings of a mad man.......

Does CAP get into the play-offs with two losses if they run the table?  (They played Mount TOUGH for three quarters.)

Does JCU get in?  (I would assume so even with the stank of Mount's pounding on their hides.)

I won't ask that about ONU, because with the general public's leanings, and what I THINK will be a sound thrashing by Mount, it is almost irrelevant.

Can OTT get in.......uhhhh.....NO!  They were the most mediocre of the so-called big/not so big other four (JCU, ONU, CAP, OTT).

Why does the far west stink so badly in D III football?  (Other than Linfield of course.)

ace

Very premature at best for post seaon berths. JCU could be 9-1, then how could you deny them over an 8-2 Capital? Anyone at the Mount/JCU game could see JCU was much better than the score.
Everything Mount did went right, and everything JCU did went wrong.
There is still a lot of football to be played. Major upsets in D3 this year making a interesting season.
ONU, well that's an enigma. Let's see what team shows up when they play Mount.

skunks,

Far West stink in DIII football?

PLU (Tacoma, Wa) is way down this year but they did win the DIII title in 1999.  Willamette (Salem, Or) and Whitworth (Spokane, Wa) have both been to the playoffs and Oxy (L.A.) did play in the west region finals last year.

I think the teams on the left coast play some good football.
