Didn't mean to offend the Wabash faithful.  But one does get tired of the slogan tagged onto the end of most every post.  Bashdad suggests that we could stand to be educated on the origin of the slogan, so I invite Bash fans to enlighten me--either here on the board or through my email.

BTW-I edited the offending post.

From the "I don't have a meeting this afternoon" file, I am forced to look at the AFCA Top 25...

I am comfortable with Linfield of Dreams holding down the top spot.  The next five teams all seem logical, too.  At number 7, Occidental Contact draws a flag from me for two reasons: 1) they've only played five games and 2) their scare from "My posts are WHITTIER than yours."  Numbers 8,9, and 10 don't raise an eyebrow despite the fact that Mary Hardin-Baylor has a loss and elected to hyphenate her last name.  Number 11, Hobart Simpson is routinely overrated.  I don't know much about How to survive in North Central.  St. John Fisher (I thought he was a baptist) is likley to be happy to be located just above (#14) Bridge over troubled water.  It seems that some lacrosse players have thrown on football helmets for Johns Hopscotch but they're 14 spots below where they'd be in that sport with nets on the end of sticks.  For a school that's "of the Evangelical Lutheran Church", (#16) Concordia-Morehead seems to be at a crossroads with its identity.  Fortunately, they're playing well (who wouldn't-- seeing what is at stake).  I'm definitely not sold on the (#17) Dead Presidents-- they're in a bad conference.  Next, the Monmouth Bass look to control their own destiny by finishing strong.  Gothica is not what it once was but at #19 they're we they should be.  The color Thiel really doesn't go well with #20 and they'll face reality shortly.  One would expect Wa Bash  (#21) to be a whole lot more fun than it is and I would expect their conference to be better than it is.  UW-Stick net sport, Wheat Thins, and the Counting Crows album Augustana Everything After all deserved to be in the poll despite their losses.  What I can not figure out is how Wesley Walls-- although he was a good TE-- gets in over the likes of JCU, Union, and Trinity (CT) for that matter.  Oh well!  Such is life...

The Pioneers are basically at the same point in '05 as they were last year.

Started 2-0 each year.
Played poorly against JCU and lost.
Played competitively against Ott (last yr Ott missed a game ending field goal).
Last year played Cap evenly through 2 qtrs, this year in the game through 3.
Last year didn't show up for Mount.  This year tied 7-7 at the end of one before exiting.

We'll see Saturday against the Muskies if they have a shot at finishing strong.

4u:  That might the understatement of the year!   Glad to see you're using your free time wisely.

On the ranking thing, JCU is at an interecting point in their season and could easily be a Top 25 team after the next couple weeks.  After the MUC blasting, they shocked everyone with their blowout of ONU.  Next week's game against Otter will be a decent test before the ultra-critical match-up with Capital.    If they can get thru those, then all that's standing between the Streaks and the playoffs is a big pile of BW.  I hope for nothing less in week 10 than JCU playing for a post-season spot and to make sure BW loses their dumb streak of being average!   GO STREAKS!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

raiderguy: How will I know who you are at St. John's?  Do you dress incognito?  What is your schedule for the rest of the football season?  All SJU games? or a trip back to your old stomping grounds in Alliance?

It is no secret that BW is having a rough year and in jeapordy of blowing "the streak", but by no means is "the streak" a small accomplishment.  It is a sence of pride that instills the fact that over the past 38 seasons no BW football team has had less than a winning season.  Call me crazy (unless your a mount fan), but since when has winning become mediocre? Ask any Mount fan, player, or ex-player, which OAC team plays them the toughest every year, and I promise you 9 out of 10 times they say BW.

Obviously I am a BW fan (maybe the only one on this forum), so go Jackets!

I think you might be seeing the world through puke brown and dingy yellow colored glasses.

Could anybody else hear EARL humming Glory Days when he wrote that post? Hey Earl, Tressel is gone, Packard is gone and the Streak is gone, not that anybody here gives a flaming pile of BW about it. There goes my "Karma"

Thanks so much for further defining what the streak actually means.  We are all better off for knowing what it "really" means.

I'm not a Mount fan but I will gladly take that bet.  If you said 9 out of ten Mount fans will tell you that JCU has played them the toughest, then I might consider you worth listening to, but even then I would guess 6 out of 10 in favor of JCU would be the best ratio out there.  I am hard-pressed to believe that 1 out of 10 would pick BW when describing the team that plays Mount toughest.  The ONLY thing that gives Mount (and any OAC team) a little trepidation is your stadium (which reminds me of my grandma's screened in porch with goalposts).

rc,

This MAY not be the best time to do Vikings imitations!  ;D

(Though I haven't heard any tales of Duante being a part of that fiasco.)

Consider it done.  I just hope that they are the kind of updates we both want to be reading.

And since I am also a fan: "I'm thinking about taking that new chick from Logistics. If things go right I might be showing her my O-face. You know: Oh. Oh."

Maybe they'll have the game on at Chotchkie's.
