Congrats to the Polar Bears.

Mount 4 Turnovers, ONU 0 Turnaovers

Quirk only had 108 yards but was extremely efficient completing 68% of his throws.

Jorris was 1 for 3 passing in the first half with one INT.  He finished 13 for 27 but had three INT's (all to Rusty Midlam)

MUC was stopped 4 times on 4th down and twice in the redzone and 2 for 11 on 3rd down conversions.

ONU dominated the clock as well running strong and winning the clock battle by 13 minutes.

Have fun tonight reality check.

Why should the coach take a step down to the Presidency?
Things can't get any better for him than today, can they?
I think he should move on to Hiram and tackle a new challenge.

Congrats to ONU...

I remember the last couple years you guys have given Mount a heck of a run and they were fun games to call. Congrats again... and enjoy it.

Could we bel ooking at co-co-co champs? what happens with the playoffs then?

Just arrived back home, soaking wet - but thoroughly impressed from a classic DIII football game between MUC and ONU.

Here are some notes from the game for those unable to attend:

1. Garcon was basically a non factor - he played most of the second half - covered fairly easily by ONU defensive backs (with the exception of one play). Do posters realize he has a broken bone in his lower leg?

2. RJ Meadows is the real deal. MUC defensive line was strong, quick and aggressive, but when Meadows got past the d-line, he broke the tackles of the MUC linebackers and defensive backs regularly.

3. Lots of penalties on both sides. There were some close calls on both teams - but they went both ways. The pass interference call on Robertson when he was covering Garcon rates with the worst calls - but Garcon is smart - give him credit. He literally pulled Robertson to the turf knowing the official was blocked out and got a 15 yard penalty on Robertson for pass interference.

4. The wind kicked up in the second half and it seemed to affect MUC's passing game.

5. Going for it on 4th and goal from the 1 at the end of the second half was a gutsy call by LK - but a slow developing halfback off guard play was sniffed out by a blitzing Lenny Trusnik who tackled Robinson for a two yard loss.

6. ONU played turnover free with the exception of the blocked punt. MUC had three interceptions and a fumble when the center snapped the ball in the shotgun before Jorris was looking.

7. MUC fans are very quiet for a team that has won a zillion games in a row.

8. ONU fans were loud and boisterous - almost obnoxious at times - but hey, they had a lot to be excited about.

9. Did I mention that RJ Meadows is the real deal?

10. Quirk clearly won the QB battle by limiting mistakes and playing within himself - despite taking a serious pounding from the MUC d-line - usually just after he released the ball on passes.

11. Few things would be better than to see these two teams play again in the playoffs. They are both obviously well coached, quality DIII teams.

Quotejust wish some others would wake up!

Do you think that two home losses in two years are the wake-up call?

Those of you who were following the OAC in 1994, what happened with the 3 way championship (although there's still a lot of football to play)?  Who made the playoffs and who didn't?

pios

I want to send congrats to ONU for ending the streak, and a big congrats to MUC for building the streak.  What ever happened with the protest deal?  This really shakes things up.

ONU is appealing (hopefully it will be dropped).  While the desicion is under appeal Northern IS eligable for the playoffs.

By the way, in the game nobody cares about Doug Phillips threw for 417 and 5 TD.

Wow! doesn't this make the Capital/ONU game next week really interesting or even the Otterbein/JCU for that matter.

Let me be the first to say go Crusaders (until the following week) and go Streaks.  This is going to be a very exciting finish to a wild season.

ONU played like this was a Nat'l Championship Game. No one can deny that.  Garcon was hurt and the Bears played a great defensive game without a key player as well.  The lack of fan support and noise was brought up by several of the Mount coaches after the game. To say they were dissappointed is putting it lightly.  The monumental accomplishments of Mount Union players and Coaches do not end HERE.  This season is far from over.  I know Purple will use this loss the way ONU chose to recover from theirs. How one recovers is the true test of character. ROLL~~RAIDERS

It sure will be exciting down the stretch, especially the gauntlet that JCU has the rest of the way!! BTW who's Doug Phillips?  LOLOL just kidding ya! Good Luck!

well said , you better get on the bus up here!! We could use that reinforcement again! The way it sounded today, i thought I was at a  monday morning church service! IF the Mount fans think next week's visiting crowd will have larengitis(sp) they got another thing coming! Even their colors should be enough to make some people stand up and scream a little bit!  ;D

Congrats to Phillips on a big day.  But the Berg is the worst team in the OAC, has the longest losing streak in the country in Division III and your posts seem to be a cry for attention when the fact of the matter is that the big story of the day isn't JCU beating the Berg (or JCU somehow giving up 21 points to the Berg).

"Hopefully they will drop their appeal" is a retarded statement.  I can't even begin to rationalize a reason for a school to drop their appeal after they beat the King.
