Ric

mtfan, actually I tried to step away from HS games last year but that only lasted the first weekend. But yes it is very hard to prepare for two games each weekend.  I appreciate your kind comments.

Reality Check thank you I appreciate that.  I try to limit the audio hightlights to five each week and it should not be hard this week.  Without listening to the broadcast yet, I think the five will be Mount's two TD's, the goal line stand at the end of the half by ONU, the 4th & one at midfield with a minute to play and the final play of the game.  There are a cpl there you'll like hearing.  I should have those up hopfully by Tuesday evening.  I will also have some pictures added to the game story when I get them in a day or so. I appreciate your kind comments.  Maybe if we meet up in the playoffs you can make the trip for the game.

Pat thx, you know if there is ever a highlight you'd like for the site let me know and I can dig for it and get it to you quickly.  Also good work on getting the OAC info.

Congrats to Dean Paul and the Polar Bears. Now finish the season the right way and win out. Hopefully the NCAA allows ONU to come to the big dance, but you have no control over that. Just win the last games and let the rest take care of itself.

Pat Coleman

Thanks, Ric. Will be in touch.

Congrats to ONU, well done in playing one heck of a game.  Enjoy this victory it's a special one.

MUCFball

It is true having a little more of Garcon would have MAYBE had a bearing on the game.  However the same can be said about Trusnik.  But, Casto was open NUMEROUS times and jorris did not get him the ball.  Also, the O-Line getting OWNED at the goaline at the end of the first half didnt help anything.  The momentum that could have been shifted if the D stops ONU after the blocked punt would have been huge.  As it happened ONU recovered and marched down the field and scored.  Bottom line is ONU was the better team yesterday and they deserve all the praise in the world.  Goodluck the rest of the season.

Remember those concerns you shared with me in the preseason about our kicking game???

So far ONU is a perfect 0-0 in field goals.  I couldn't believe it when I read it but the Bears haven't even attempted a field goal this season.

Mr. Ypsi

rc,

That is an AMAZING stat - you'd be hard-pressed to find a high school team that has yet to attempt a FG!

Is that TOTAL lack of faith in a kicker, a philosophy of ALWAYS go for the TD, a bit of each, or just a fluke?

Pat Coleman

Pacific Lutheran won a national championship in 1999 without a field goal attempt.

Mr. Ypsi

Pat,

Obviously, I didn't know that!  Any idea which of my final set of questions THEY would answer to?

Pat Coleman

It seemed to be a little of both with the 99 Lutes, although they seemed to have a competent PAT kicker.

I would say it is definitely just the way the 4th down spots have come up this season combined with the fact that the ONU kicker is a frosh and he hasn't been put into a pressure situation yet this season.  It is not a philosohical thing by any means because Coach Paul let Charlie Webb have lots of chances last year.  Webb, the 2004 kicker the Bears lost to graduation, had 15 attempts last season.

ONU jumps to 11 in the new poll.
Mount falls to 6th.

JCU and CAP are both clawing their way up to sit just outside the top 25.  Funny how CAP with two losses is getting more votes than JCU with their one loss.

I think the answer is to put one of those invisible fence lines under the seats of the covered stands. When some reaction is needed one of the real fans can hit the button and they all would get a "gentile correction" of about 5000 volts up their collective a$$e$ and at least we could hear something coming from the west side of the stadium

********************************
OK, I can't help myself here. I'm not trying to be the spelling police, but this made me chuckle. Did you maybe mean a "gentle correction?" Or was that a "genital correction?"

Congratulations to Mt. Union on your amazing streak. It's too bad it had to end. You bring a lot of credit to all of D3.
ONU, congratulations on your win yesterday.

Two words:  THE STREAK

Mr. Ypsi

rc,

True!  But I suspect a 70-0 loss (even to MUC) counts like 2 or 3 losses to at least some voters!

BTW, even 15 attempted FGs is way below average - it may be PARTLY philosophical.

reality check

Ypsi

I failed to tell you he only made 7 of those 15 so in that case the coach's philosophy came in to play more because <50% isn't a great percentage.  I take that philosopy myself.

Conso

Maybe he meant "Gentile" after all.  Because Mount Union is a United Methodist affiliated university I would think most of the shockees would indeed be Gentiles.   ;)
