Congrats to Capital for making The Show.  Now PUH-LEEZE show up the next week and do the OAC proud!  How fitting is it that only a flaming pile of BW has ever lost a playoff game as the 2nd OAC team to anyone other than MUC?  I'm pulling bigtime for Capital to make it to the regional final.  Hopefully MUC is there too.

Looking at the overall draw, I don't think it could have worked out any better for MUC and Capital.  The toughest teams both have until the regional final are the CCIW teams.  Seeing the North paired with the East in the Semi' tells me that regardless of who wins the North Region, that team will be playing Linfield in the Stagg.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

For those that care, the games for the OAC Pick-Em's - Playoff Edition have been posted in the pick-em thread

Good luck to all and may someone other than The Ric win!

As a representative of the CCIW, I'm hoping for an NCC-Augie final in the North! ;)

But I agree that whoever represents the North SHOULD make it to the Stagg (though I'm less certain that Linfield will be the one waiting for them - they've got a tough road to the semi's, and the South rep won't be a pushover).

For those of you who didn't know, the last two MUC games I have seen in person are the loss to Mary-Hardin Baylor in last year's playoffs and the ONU game this year.

I plan to stay in Sunny FL this November and December and will stay as far away from the Purple Raiders as I can! :)

Good luck to Capital as well, congrats to you and JK!

Kirasdad -

My 9-year-old keeps reminding me that the only two football games he has seen have both been MUC losses.  Even though I am only three hours from Salem, I too will stay away from the Raiders ... in a place where the air is warm and the vino is cold.

should be a great game for cap/ncc in naperville saturday. the matchup pits ncc's excellent offense against a stellar cap defense. ncc runs a spread offense, shotgun w 1 rb. their qb is likely the cciw OPOY and a 3 yr starter as a jr. they have a 1st team all cciw rb who is fast. it looks like cap will be the best defense the cardinal have faced this year, although the carthage defense had similar numbers when they played but injuries mad their defense look mortal down the stretch. ncc's defense has given up more yards than i thought they would have but have a +14 takeaway number that has saved them. cap's +12 is equally telling and Ric says this is the best defense he has seen all year. seems like turnovers will be the key, who gets em and who capitalizes on them. looking forward to a seeing a great OAC team this weekend. (in case you didn't know, i am a wheaton fan--currently a cciw fan  :P )

safe travels to the cap faithful.

Hey Pat why don't you use the NCAA type Bracket layout? I can't get yours to fit on one page,NCAA fits great!!!!

Dude, we have had enough on our plates keeping the server running on days like today, the last thing we want to do is take the page everyone is looking for and make it a real complex page that takes more time to load!

Lets see, Cap beats a 2-7 Wilmington at Cap and moves from 21 to 16 in the rankings, ONU beats a 5-4 Marietta at Marietta and moves from 22 to 20.  And the inequities continue.

2minuteO

Mr. Eagle are u trying to pull a Mack Brown and have ONU fly to the top of the rankings.   Let it go the season is over, we will cya on here next year....

I would bet that ONU has the dubious distinction of being the highest ranked team in the top 25 not to be in the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.  Ia would be pretty certain that hasn't happened to the same team twice in consecutive years (excluding any possible NESCAC team that obviously don't qualify).

l39eagle,

Would you please quit whining?  You are starting to sound like an ONU version of Toph.  How you can not see that head to head wins are more important is beyond me.  It is very unbecoming for a man to whine like you do.  Perhaps you are a chick, though.  Either way, knock it off.

RC,

I know I am a little late, but your list from late last week was awesome.  I really enjoyed reading it.

I am still having a hard time believeing Capital made it in.  Honestly didnt think a 2 loss team had a chance, but obviously thrilled to see them in.  I need to try to find a way to Naperville on Saturday.  With basketball getting underway it will be difficult for me to shirk my responsibilities.  Ain't responsibility a bitch?

I made it to Bexley for the weekend and was not dissaponted with it.  I have a few observations.

-Capital's defense is as good as advertised.  Did a good job putting out a few fires early on.  Hope they continue to play well.  I have a hard time imagining that NC has as much balance between the offense and defense as Cap.  But we shall see.
-Colin O'Reilly is a very talented, patient runner.
-Lewis Howes and Kive Kraft are unbelievable.  They each made some catches that left me scratching my head.  With their size and speed it has got to be hard for anyone in Dvision III to cover them.
-James Starks is tough.  I'll leave it at that.
-TT Murph's is still a good time, or so I am told.  Tequila is now on my list of banned substances along with whiskey.
-Capital has experienced an overall upgrade in almost every facet.  The cheerleaders today are so much better looking than when I was in school.
-I can beat punter Andrew Gerber in a 40 yd dash.

Congrats by the way for the great day yesterday.  ESPNews did a good job giving Division III some respect on a national scale.  And I see that you had 75,000 hits to the site yesterday eclipsing the old one-day high of somewhere around 59,000 (I think).  That's an impressive bump.  A great day of exposure Division III football.

E Lee,

If you find a way to go this weekend and you are going to drive, will you swing through Lexington, KY?

If I can find a way out of my commitment this Saturday, perhaps we could meet and follow one another...
