Jdean-- Without the O'line, there is no time for Jorris to do his magic, or Garcon to do his. There are a lot of unsung heros on this Purple squad that we have not and will not hear about because that's just the way it is in Alliance. Going deep into the playoffs would be a great building block for many of our boys. I especially hope it happens for all of our seniors who have worked so hard and come up just short. Congradulations to all our SENIORS who have earned The OAC Conference Championship (an INCREDIBLE FEAT on it's own). Now GO OUT and GET WHAT is YOURS!! ROLL~~RAIDERS

In reading through some of these post and see the stats compared of Mount this year vs. last all I have to say is, WHAT HAVE I BEEN SAYING?

Despite all the doom gloomers ready to jump in to Berlin Lake because we lost a regular season game. This team, if healthy, is better than last year's team.  There is no question in my mind.  Last year's team was a play away from going to the Stagg Bowl, so take it for what you will but I really do think this team will end up in Salem.  Can they get beat? Sure can, will they? 2-1 odds to get to the championship game, 3-1 to win it, IMO.

And when I talk people better listen after all I am the D3 Fantasy Football League and OAC pick'ems winner so there! Call me Ric Hutton.    ;D

AngryWhiteMan

good points fellas, just wanted to know your opinions

ric,

how do you know this very classy gentleman?  although i am not suprised, everyone knows hubbie

Ric

AngryWhiteMan -- he took time out of his busy schedule this week to say some very nice things to me.

Correct as usual Ric-- and how many of us have professed for 2 years now that it is not MUC is getting worse, but the playing field has leveled some??????   When will folks realize this better for the OAC as a WHOLE? IT'S STARTING TO MAKE SENSE NOW ISN"T IT ;D

correct me if im wrong, isn't any team that wins a conf. championship and makes it to the playoff considered a good team?

With due respect to Mt St Joe (who sounds like a pretty GOOD team), your conclusion simply isn't logical.  If the 8 WORST teams in d3 formed a conference, they would be entitled to an AQ, but the 'champion' would still be the eighth worst team in the country!

I'm mainly a bball poster, and we see it even more dramatically over there - there are several conferences where their champion has effectively a ZERO chance of winning a playoff game (much like 16 seeds in the d1 bball tourney).

Ric

B4 -- Mount Union is not as good as it was a few years ago.  The OAC is also not as good.  CAP is better than it was last year IMO, Mount, ONU and JCU were a better one, two, three six years ago than this year's version, but yes Mount is better this year than last.

b4uknewit- I have to agree with you that the big fella's up front for MUC need to get a good deal of credit for what they have done.  That is the FASTEST O-Line we faced all season not to mention probably (pound for pound) the strongest.  In my four years that has been the best MUC line that I have played against.
Compared to last years line (i know a few of the guys are the same) they seemed to be in better condition as well.
I do want to ask though, do you think that weather conditions change the game plan for MUC?  Could poor weather hinder their offensive gameplan?

MUCFball

And there are other people besides Garcon on the team.

I agree with Ric that this Mount Union team is better than last year.  They are, IMO, better than the 2003 team.  This could be a great Mount Union team IF they are healthy and IF they can eliminate the penalties and lack of concentration that seems to have plagued them from time to time this year.  This is not "the Machine" Mount fans have been accustomed to seeing.

Playing to their potential this is a Championship team.

To some degree I think the weather conditions obviously changed up some offensive strategies for Mount , however any great championship team must adjust to those intangibles that effect a game. ONU had a game plan and played it out perfectly. The ground game of Meadows and Garrod adapted and prevailed, when a number of times I felt the Mount D had collapsed too much on third down situations.    Likewise, Mount offensively had a tendency to keep away from passing like I felt they would have with better conditions!

Ric-- As you know, my experience with Mount started last year. Hopefully, I will enjoy 2 more! My comments were directed only towards the many conversations of each and in support of LK who, also as you know {better than any of us}, has itterated those sediments of the playing field leveling. I have to admit, I have not read or heard any quotes by any MUC coaches about how one year rates against the other, I bet that would be a neat interview with LK {if you haven't gotten it allready}  ;) Moe45daddy-- I have heard nothing but the highest compliments about ONU's OLine from those who very much know what they are talking about!  The plain truth is, the Best Team WON that day!  All of you should be extremely proud of your accomplishments!

What are the chances that Cap will win this game? Anyone have any info?

Mount Union will kill Mount St. Joe. I watched MSJ play this year and they would finish in the middle of the pack in the OAC. Not a very good football team. They just play in a weak conference.

Thanks!  And your karma is a -3 for what reason?

For those of us that are sane on this board, I bet mini-mount will give THE MOUNT more of a game than you might expect.  You can compare stats and history and all that other bull crap,... until you snap the ball.  No one on here can predict the future.  I'm sure everyone, including myself, thought Mount Union would finish undefeated this season.  That's why they play the game.

FanFave,
I am just merely stating my opinion. I have seen MSJ play. They are decent and I would compare them to a Marietta or Muskingum on the OAC. When the HCAC actually does something in the playoffs, maybe someone will give them more respect, but you're playing Mount Union. Just wait until you go to Alliance and play them. It is a totally different atmosphere than your Western Hills venue. My karma is bad on here because I said some bad things about Ohio Northern. Nobody else but Ohio Nornern fans. You would understand there is bad blood between ONU and Cap if you were in the OAC.

I will give you credit in that you are right when you say "until you snap the ball." Anything can happen, but hell isn't freezing over in Alliance this weekend. Too many weapons and too much experience.  I will say one thing we both agree on .....WHO DEY!!!

Ric,

He is the head  coach of Mount St. Joseph football team. You have to study your opponent.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!
