Cap99fan,

Good First Post, welcome to the board. Go take care of Buisness in IN next week and hopefully we can do the same and meet up in A-town next week.

Excellent win for the Purple Gang. Not sure why MSJ would play that type of D against our deep threats but I was happy they did.

Augie averages 350 yds/game on the ground? My God!

Ko-Hawk-If you're posting to get under our skin...well done. But you're a waste of human flesh! As stated before...Go Away!

Go Raiders!

isnt' the cut off for karma -12?  i was under the impression that if you go past -12 you were kicked off post patterns.  i could be wrong, but if so, it was lovely posting with you ko-hawk

Guess you were wrong. Cocoforcoe etc posted this morning on the W Region with a -21 and there was another Kohawk poster yesterday who had a -25. Apparently there is no limit to the amount you can offend people (as long as it isn't the host?). OK, that ? is unfair. The host does a good job of policing the Board.

I have to admit that since I've only been to three games this year, I don't share much of the pessimism about this years Raiders. I though the Defense was amazing yesterdat and the offense, after a rocky start into gale force winds, turned it on and looked very poised.
I can only hope to be in attendence this next week in Alliance. I'm having surgery in the morning, so we will see.  :P It should be another classic Augustana Mount Union matchup: The Running Machine vs the Immoveable Force. Glad to see Augie passes a little more that years past (34.8 ypg and 118 yesterday) Mount may not be the team to tryout an unpolished pass game on, but heres hoping they try.

I am still shaking my head over giving MSJ 1 net yard rushing. That is just sick.
Well off to the last basketball practice I'm going run for a couple of weeks.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Before we start looking at what Mount shoulda, coulda done today, sit back and be glad that they really came together and played a tough game. Modesty prohibits me from repeating some the stats but anytime you have ten times your opponents net yardage you have done some things right. Yeah, they are from the Heartland Conference, but they had some talent and were well coached. There is nothing but tough games ahead, but I'm not nearly as worried as I was before. Sure glad we discovered a more exciting runner. Now if we could just work on the dumb penalties. Congrats Raiders

PS It appears Augie has discovered the forward pass (6-7 118 yards and a touchdown today) That used to be a full season's passing stats.

As a MSJ fan I appreciate the compliment, sincerely.  Seems like it took a quarter for the Purple Raiders to figure us out.  Once that happened we were in trouble.  The penalties did stand out and cleaning up that part of their game will be key.  Best of luck to MUC the rest of the way.

Well off to the last basketball practice I'm going run for a couple of weeks.
When you look at the stats, they gained 78 yards rushing, but lost 77 yards in sacks.  Our QB is very skilled and athletic, but has a lot of growing up to do.

that MUC defense ran around very well, I think we could have ran the ball against them a lot better but after the 1st quarter we started playing 'catch up' and our offense isn't set up for that.  We've traditionally won games by forcing three-and-outs and slowly and methodically running the ball to score touchdowns, then after wearing a team out we punch in some 'knock out shots'.  This team servived on our defense, which started the game against MUC with 2 straight 3-and-outs, and made us belueve, but 92 yard pass plays really break your back.

Best of luck to MUC, they were they better team and I hope they take their success very far.

reality check

Ko-hawk was booted by Pat a few weeks ago when he rare form throwing lowblows at ONU the day after Coach Bendo passed away.  I guess the ban was not permanent however.

Perhaps he was never banned in the first place and just now got arounf to putting a fresh gallon of gasoline in the generator so he could fire up the old computer.

RIght now temps and conditions looking at upper 20's and party sunny for saturday, but then again we live in Ohio so don't look at the forecast until 3 hours before gametime, it has a better chance of being accurate!!

I am sure that the game film will show that several of those passing plays were at the end of the first half.  I think that Augie got the ball with less than a minute and then moved the ball effectivly down field.  It isn't that we can't necessarily pass the ball, but we prefer not to do so.

We do have some tendecies to dust off the forward pass when we get into the playoffs. Back in 86, we threw for about 120 yards against MUC in the playoffs.

I recall one of those big plays was to Brad Price...I believe they used to call that play "Box and One"?  Always good for a large gain, if not a TD

I am running behind as always.  I went to game Saturday and then visited friends in Alliance.  We did not get home until very late.  Today it was to church and a meeting this afternoon.  Glad to see so many CAP fans on here.  It was getting old only having MUC posters!  It must have been a bummer to loose the internet broadcast at such a crucial time.  Best luck against Wabash next week.

The MUC v MSJ game was marred by two things for me.  The inconsistent officiating.  I think it threw off both teams as to what they could do.  In the first half MUC could do no right and then in second half seemed like MSJ was getting flagged for who know what.  The personal fouls were beyond understanding.  One occured in front of us and all we saw the the MUC player on the ground out of bounds nowhere near the ball carrier and MUC gets the penalty.  One pass interference call occurred pretty much in front of us and it was real ticky tacky.  Both players were going for a ball that neither had a chance to get.  We watched one official in the first half stare at a MSJ lineline holding the MUC rusher and not throw a flag.

The other thing unfortunately was some of the MUC fans.  I usually defend them but there were two in front of me who were an embarrasment.  I apologize to any the MSJ fans that happen to come in contact with these two.  These guys who were older need to get a life, wore purple wigs, thats OK that can be fun but giving the officials the 1 finger salute and mouthing off with profanities is not.  One guy behind even yelled at them that this was a family venue.  I guess I am just old fashion and believe in good sportsmanship.  There is a group seated behind me that think it is cute to start yelling at the visiting team, "Start the Bus."  I just feel that type of behaivor is inappropriate.  Not only that, they start it earlier and a team someday is going to make a comeback that is going to make these guys slink out the nearest gate!

Glad to see the MSJ coach get up after being nailed  (accidently) by a group of players.  He was down what seemed like quite awhile.  He looked wobly for a while but seemed to be OK by the end of game.

Where was everybody?  I mean we had more people at the regular season games.  I know OSU Michigan was on, but isn't a live game better than watching on the TV.  I mean for mid-November it was a beautiful day for a football game.

StillMSJ

oldmantoo, thanks for the comments about those unruly fans behind the MSJ bench, I posted my thoughts on them in the HCAC thread.  Other than them, all the other MUC fans seemed very hospitible (sp?)

And about holding calls, well the holding on MUC's part being called was unexpected as well, being that HCAC refs don't call holding.

No really, they don't call it.

The refs at the game were NCAC refs and they seemed like they had never refereed a game together before, very unorganized, but the game wasn't close enough to make them a factor anyways, so it doesn't matter.
