Do you thin LK learned something last year with MHB?

Cograts to the 15 Crusaders that made all conference...9 made first team.   Kyle Hausler got the Lee Tressell award for best DB.  I wonder if he would of got it if the coaches knew he was coming back next year.

Hope to make the trip on Sat.

Cap 24
Wabash 14

I dont think Wabash has seen this type of team speed all year.

In case anyone wants a link to the complete list of all-OAC'ers.

I was surprised on a couple decisions.  I still think as nice a surprise as Loth's efforts were this year, the first two years in the OAC for Dean Paul were altogether unexpected and underappreciated regarding post-season awards.  He has made some major changes in the Polar Bear program and already achieved the impossible in just his second year.

That said I really think they should have given a dual Asst. Coach award.  I support the vote for Bendo completely and wish the best to his family.  I still think that one of CAP's defensive coaches should have gotten some kudos this year.

I ended up calling it correctly regarding the QB's with Phillips getting the Gregory Award and first team nod and Rocky finishing second.  It's Rocky's award to win next year.  I can't believe Jorris didn't even get an HM though.  RJ Meadows becomes the first FR 1st teamer (not counting punters) in the last five years in the OAC.  Hedges went from best running back in 2004 to not even on the list this year.  I think the votes for WR's and DB's were dead on this year.  No disagreements from me.  I thought Trusnik would have still gotten an HM but perhaps he was not eligible because of the medical hardship waiver.

Moe45, you should have been on the list somewhere.

Congrats to all those who got the vote.  Overall I think that they did a good job this season.

I would be willing to bet any amount of my purple suckers that this Anthony character has NEVER attempted to cover someone with Garcon's speed and burst.  I have witnessed teams putting double coverage on him, with the second cover guy a safety playing 15 yards off the ball.  Garcon runs a skinny post or fly, and the safety is thinking he is far enough back to intercept or break up the pass, and ZIP....Garcon just bursts to another gear and is gone.  The key is always whether Jorris can actually throw it FAR enough.  If Augustana puts only one guy on Garcon, I see at least two touchdowns for him.

Also, I watched Augie go up early on Mount in 99, only to watch Mount come back with big plays often.  I really don't think an early score indicates the final outcome of this game at all.

As aggressive as Mount needs to be to make things happen in Augie's backfield, the weakside must also STAY HOME due to all that crazy ball faking, etc...

First Teamers:

CAP: 9 (nice showing...is Kraft really a TE though?)
MUC: 7 (fewest 1st teamers since 2001)
ONU: 6 (Gasser is a TE on the roster...so maybe we should have had 7?!?)
BW: 3 (None on offense...what a surprise!)
OTT: 2 (both very deserving)
MUSK: 2 (surprised they didn't have a QB or WR on the list  ;))
JCU: 1 (Only first teamer is the Mike Gregory offensive back of the year)

Etta has 4 second teamers but Berg and Wilma can only manage 4 HM's between the two programs.

The 'Bash / Cap game has all the earmarking of a classic. Can Capital press Harbaugh into mistakes when he hasn't made them all year. Can Wabash's secondary contain the Cap offense? Who will win the battle in the trenches.

This game and MUC / Augie means that the North has two of the best three playoff games this round, IMHO (the other great one being St. John's and Whitewater).

Skunks_sidekick:

I admit I don't know anything about Garcon, but Anthony was able to keep North Central's Spencer (who transfered out of the Big 10) out of the endzone. He had an all-american type season, and he did get some catches, but no td's. I'm  not saying that Anthony will completly shut him down, but a lot of teams havn't thrown many balls at Anthony, and when they did, they had very little success. Teams have had success at picking on the other DB's on Augies team. If Augie can put enough pressure on the qb like they have been able to this year, they might be able to atleast contain Garcon.  The difference beween the '99 team and this team is that this years version has a much better defense than in years past. This matchup is what playoff football is all about, and I can't wait to make the trip out there this weekend.

augiedogie- unfortunately i fear skunks is correct. anthony is a really good cover corner but this garcon dude can fly from what i hear. there really isn't a burner at wr in the cciw (spencer is big 10 but not a burner). the closest thing we have is the kid from millikin who is pretty fast but i wouldn't call him a burner. in the wheaton game i thought the wheaton reciever got behind the augie secondary 2x but our qb couldn't get it there. and wheaton's wr's are anything but fast.

while i think augie may be able to hang w mount, i fear this is another over promise, under deliver game where speed kills. mt has it and augie hasn't seen it. I hope not, but I have seen this movie before.

Congrats to all of the OAC award winners.  All of the awards were well deserved including OTT's coach.

Forunately for Mount fans and unfortunately for Augie fans is that Mount has MANY more weapons on offense other than Garcon (although he obviously highlights the team). Double him and another will step right up.  Check the stats, they dont lie!  Looking forward to another great game Saturday......I just hope the weather cooperates!

Also...goodluck Cap!!!!

Does anyone know how to check up on the status of the playoff pickem sheets?

I'm an NCAC'er, but since it's past midnight I figured I'd throw this question out on a few boards to hopefully get a quick response.

Just for fun I went back to the highlights of the last two MUC-Auggie games and found a few fun facts.

We have talked about Auggie having the ball control ability because of there offense. Well .....

they held the ball for 48:08 minutes in the '99 game and Mount for (obvious award candidate here)  11:52.

Score42-33 Mount. 42 points in 11:52!

In the 01 game the Raiders had 545 total yards to 216 for Auggie. The Auggies had 70 yards passingas part of that total.

I have a real strong feeling this Raider defense will find the right combination to stop a team that has only passed 33 times the whole season. Not much to the tendency chart here. They may not play against their style of offense all that often but they have seen it enough times to know what is coming.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Last year D3Football.com sent out emails with the standings. I haven't received one this year.

RC,

You asked if Kive Kraft is really a TE.  Capital runs a lot more I formation and utilizes the TE quite a bit more than when I was there.  Heck you could use a TE on 3 plays a game and it would still be quite a bit more than in the past.  But when they go with a TE Kraft usually lines up there.  He definitely plays more WR than TE.
