Help me out guys.

I have a wedding to go to on Saturday.  It starts at 6:30 pm Saturday night in Ashtabula County, Ohio.  Its a Catholic wedding so I don't expect the reception to start til 8:30 at the earliest.  Is it acceptable for me to go to the Cap-Wabash game, which should end about 4ish and drive back to Ashtabula, about a  6 hour drive, and get to the reception at 10 pm?

The groom was a teammate of mine in HS and has remained a pretty close friend.  The bride is my sister's best friend and has been a pretty good friend of mine as well.  Do I have to do the responsible thing and just go to the wedding and the reception and listen to Cap on line and hope to have the oppurtunity to make the trip to Alliance next week?

I'm not going to make the judgement call for you e lee, but I will tell you this:

With a noon kickoff, the game should be over by 3:00, so you've got an extra hour to get to your reception.

Have to make the game. This match up could be better than the wedding. I'm sure you can make both though. Both are bound to be "Barn Burners".

e_lee,

I left a buddy's reception early in 2001 to see Thomas More host their first home playoff game.  (he had the reception start at 11ish in Columbus) and I made it for the 2nd half of that game. .......and he has never let me live it down.  I say go to the wedding and then hope Cap gets by Wabash.  Its the right thing to do.

Do the responsible thing and come to the Mount-Augie game, hang out with D3'ers and  figure out where you want sit next week. Then you have a two hour drive to the reception. I am betting that the Awesome Capital Offense finally shows up this week or at least the defense scores enough to get you to Alliance again.

You guys do realize that if you lose to a NCAC team we (or at least I) will never let you live it down. (There goes my Karma again)

Hey 70's rdr! Since MHB was a running team and Augie is a running team could you tell me what LK learned from MHB last year? Inquiring minds want to know!

Considering that MHB employed the now classic offensive strategy of "heave it up and magically my guy will get it now matter how many Mount d-backs are around the ball", I think LK probably learned....ummm..well nothing actually.  MHB was a solid team, and ran the ball effectively.  But without the ole heaver play, Mount is in the Stagg Bowl.

PLEASE tell me Augie doesn't have the "heave it up" pass strategy as well?  That would not bode well for the Raiders.   ;D

their pass offense is more of a one-hop approach than a 'heave it up' style. you should be ok.

If things go CAP's way, you might be able to get to the game and the reception on time with a comfortable third quarter lead.  I don't expect this kind of scenario but it would be a win-win for you I think.

I do not envy your position.  On one hand, this is a guy that played football with you so he should have some sense.  On the other hand there is a tie to the bride, she's not just "some girl" so there could be complications there.  If you go to the game you have to pray for a blowout one way or the other to save face and make the reception in decent time.

I can assure you that with a record like LK's nothing escapes his attention. I remember heading for my car late in the evening after some education classes I had to take a couple of years back and there was always a blue glow coming from his office, reviewing game films.  That might be why so many playoff opponents do so poorly the second time we play them. He is a master of research and his attention to detail is unmatched. I'm sure he knows which hand Jim Barnes wipes with.
We may or may not win, but not because this staff wasn't prepared and not because Larry hasn't seen ever snap of every Augustana game in the past two-three years.
And a team with a 34 ypg passing average probably doesn't do much "heaving", but they probably do reserve the passing game for the end of the half and the end of the game like MHB.

Elee....personally I would go with the free beer! I still think Cap wins this one by 17. .....I saw that Marcus McDonough replaces James Starks last week becuase of an injury....Does anyone know the status of his injury?

I talked to James after the game and he said he is good to go against Wabash. I didn't see him limping on the sideline like he was after the injury against Willimington.
