#1 seeds can and DO lose all the time, in many sports, including football, to teams that they probably shouldn't have. You want I should go grab a listing? Because I can and I will.

As far as Hammer is concerned-There has clearly been enought to cheer FOR the last two weeks without jeering at a bunch of 18-22 year olds. Some of it's kinda cute, most of it is over the line and wayyyy immature.

Smeds-- I believe the you left out the word "TRUE" :-\

Mr. Ypsi

Skunks, hscoach, and anyone else mocking Wabash's #1 seed:

By NCAA rules, Wabash was THE #1 seed - was there anyone else in the North region who was undefeated?  As my comments in the various pickems sites made clear, I thought Wabash would be the underdog against either Capital or NCC (i.e., I thought they were the FIFTH best team in the section).  Does that mean I thought they were 'illegitimate' as #1 - NO WAY.  They EARNED the #1 by going undefeated, something no one else in the North did.

It is not Wabash's fault that their conference REALLY stunk this year (or that it usually is mediocre, at best); though aside from DePauw (NO WAY are they giving up the 'Bell' game), they could stand to upgrade their non-conference games.

Congratulations to Mt. Union on a big win today. I knew the Vikes were in trouble with two first quarter turnovers. Absolutely deadly against a team like MUC. Still, they were right there until they gave up the late first half score. From then it was just a matter of time. Glad to see they could run the ball effectively against a terrific run defense, but you can't miss that many scoring opportunities against an opponent like that. Augie had a great year (much better than I would have expected before the season). Congrats to the Purple Raiders. Go win title number eight!

We will, believe it or not, when we get in the UAA agreement and play Chicago along with Wash U.

Smed,

Forgive me, I'm more a bball poster.  Chicago and WashU would be impressive in bball; are they in fball?

(Not intending to be snide; I just don't know.)

Quite sure we were not mocking or even questioning if Wabash deserved a #1 seed, I'm just as sure what I said is that they didn't live up to the seed. All HSCoach added was that it wasn't a surprise to most of us. Can we drop it now?  Plezzzzzz

MUC fans,

I was unable to be at the game but I would like to say thank you for what I am sure was a hospitable reception of our fans. Also the class shown by applauding our fans is also appreciated. I have been to as many games as possible and I can say I always try to be loud and support the Vikings. The comments over on the CCIW board are appreciated by this fan, and I can assure you should you ever have to leave Ohio before the Stagg Bowl and make the trip to Rock Island the hospitality will be just as respectful. Good luck to MUC and Cap, should be a good game.

Quoteafter next week its very questionable whether any #1 seed will be left!

Guess that could have gone for this week too...or any of the weeks so far, eh?

Enjoying the brackets again?

To my Mount Union Friends with Enormous Ego's:

Sorry if I have been particularly venomous today. It occurred to me when I was putting my little boy to bed a little while ago, just how much I missed my brother today. This was his time of year, our time of year and when Kevin asked me if we were going to the Stagg Bowl if Mount made it there this year, I just broke down

Thanks to everybody who introduced themselves today. The 66 jersey will be out the box and at every game as far as we go. And yes, if Mount goes, Kevin, I and the 66 jersey will go.

Thanks again to Augustana for a great game.

A LEGIT power rating had Wash U. at 85 and Chicago at 89. Wabash already plays Wash U. but Chicago would replace Kalamazoo (161st).

Smed,

Any replacement of K'zoo is a step up!  I realize you have no control over NCAC scheduling, but K'zoo is Hiram, except they have a MUCH better tennis team!
