..... Besides, I tried to get a date with HS last year and he shot me down! :P

Actually, you're the one that didn't return my calls!  Hmph.  I'm done with you.   Now where's my Little Ric?
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Hey CAP fans (or the all knowing Ric), when will the CAP team make the trip to Alliance?  Will they come up the day before for a walk through at the stadium, dinner, etc....?  Or, will the make the trek Saturday morning (seems doubtful)?

Since they are Ohio based, come here often, etc....I would guess they won't do the HOF tour.  Besides, there is going to be what will seem like a zillion Ohio HS football fans in the Canton/Massillon area this weekend for the state finals.

Oh, that reminds me of one more question.  How did Sheephead (Shepas) do at Waynsboro this year?  I think it's priceless how well Massillon did this year once he left.  That guy is a bad seed.

Mount Union was an overnight trip during the regular season when I played.  I would imagine it would be now, especially with a noon start as opposed to 1:30 pm.

When years did you play at Cap?  I have a buddy who kicked their during the 1980's (Ben Styer).  He now works for the Cartoon Network down in Atlanta.

He was way ahead of my time.  I played there from 1998-2002.  Jim Collins first recruiting class.

Elee...the inflattable Polar Bear has AIDS!lol.....One of the funniest comments I have heard all year! .....Yes, I'm still laughing! So I guess it looks like the only people rooting for CAP this weekend is CAP fans and the players....No love from anyone else. I guess everyone else wants to jump on the bandwaggon....What ever happened to rooting for the underdog?

rp

Tdubs,
Cap still has to do something eye-popping before anybody gives them a chance.  Yes, they did beat ONU/JCU, but they did lose to their rival.

To get respect, you must earn it.  I think everybody expected Cap to be in this position.  Everybody on this board would have bashed Capital had they lost their first or second playoff game.

If they want respect, then they have to go to Alliance and get it.  Plain and simple.

It's kinda like your Who-Dey.  They want respect?  Then go get it at Pittsburg this weekend.  Don't keep losing to good teams, and beating weaker 'cause you always be considered average.

Capital is a good team, beat the team that handed Mount their first loss since WWII, and did it on the road!  Great win! However, you want eye-popping, and people to give you a credit, go beat the top dawg at their place in the playoffs.

Pretty sure that all the Wabash/NCAC folks are rooting for you too.

Re: Who to root for as an ONU fan

I understand the point made by e_lee but we have good reason to root for Mount as well.  If Mount wins, then we can say we beat the eventual North Region champ (and possibly the national champ?!?)  If Mount wins, moe45daddy gets that revenge he was referring to, we can say we beat the best team in the OAC during the regular season, etc.  It would be different if we just lost to CAP but since we blew that game against JCU, rooting for CAP makes a little less sense.  Sure if CAP wins we can say we lost to the best team in the North, but what about losing to a team that didn't make the playoffs???

So basically, if Mount wins, Polar Bear fans can proudly say they beat the best team in the North Region but if CAP wins, Polar Bear fans can say they lost to the best team in the North region (and JCU).  Not much of a stepdown in either direction.

MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

rp,

Again you make great points.  I wouldn't expect our fellow OACers to think we are going to win.  In the past I never thought the other OAC teams would beat MUC in the playoffs.  I am certain the ONU folks thought they would and the JCU people thought the same.

E-Lee,

As a Cap fan, there is no doubt I think they can win this game!  (Based on Cap's earlier preformance in Alliance, and the Mount/ONU game).

And I hope they can prove me right!

The one thing I do think Capital has going for them is confidence, which I think most teams during past years may not have had.  Knowing Capital played them into the fourth quarter, and knowing they have been beat, AT HOME, should be a great advantage for Cap.

Had Capital got blasted earlier this year, and had Mount went undefeated up to this point, I think it would be harder to motivate the kids.  Yet, since this is not the case, having that confidence is a big key.

Knowing you can play with them, and knowing they are not the "Al-Mighty" that can't be beat at home, one would think that the Capital Crusdaders will be metally ready.  Now, let's just hope they bring the physical part and dominate the LOS, because as well all know, that is how you beat Mount.

tdubs

RP,
You made some very good points, but how are you going to bring my
WHO-DEY'S into this? They have beaten some pretty good teams and they gave the undefeated Colts a great game. I recall you saying they would get blown out by the Colts. You're right, they do need to beat Pittsburgh, but if you check the standings, you will see that Cincinnati is in first place and they have everyone's respect in the league. If you're going to dish it out, at least come with something good, the Bengals are in first place!!! They will still be in first place even if they lose to the 'Lers. Go root for your Clowns!

On a side note, your points on people rooting for CAP were very true. I'm glad you said something relevant in your post.

e_lee

I have been thinking that the confidence factor is the biggest difference between past rematches.  Past teams had the mystuque of win streaks that spanned years and eventually reached 54 and 55 games.  I think(hope) these Cap kids have the confidence.  I think everyone agrees they have the ability.

Alright T-dubs, aside from DIII football right now.. let me say this.

The Bungles did give the Colts a good game, Offensively.  No matter how long that game went on, you wouldn't have been able to stop them..  Oh, wait, the Colts just scored again.  (I would love to see that game played in the dome at Indy).

You have beat nobody.  What good teams have you beat that you speak of?  Green Bay?  Minnesota? Texans? Ravens? Titans? Browns?  Come'on!  Your three L's come from the only teams with a winning record on your schedule.

I like Cincy.  I think they are good team.  But do they have my respect?  Absolutely not.   Go beat somebody good, and I'll give you the respect you deserve.  But as of right now, they can't beat Pittsburg, or anybody with a winning record for that matter.

As previously stated, you just don't get respect, you EARN it.  Tom Jackson, Steve Young, Boomer Easison etc can say whatever they want, I won't give them the respect you seem to think they deserve until the show me they have earned it.  Go beat Pitt at Pitt with a healthy Rothisberger, and my hats off to you.  Lose, and it just proves my point further.

And I don't like the Stink'n Browns.
