Just back from the game.  What a HELL of a football game!  I will be the first to admit I would have NEVER thought CAP could score that much.  Of course, when you have 320 or so total yards, and your receiver #10 has like 245, it then makes sense.  That kid was THE MAN today!  Awesome game by him.

It was one of the best back and forth games I have ever watched at MUC stadium.  Congrats to Mount for getting it done.  Here are some observations.

1.  We BETTER start playing some better pass D, or we will continue to have these kinds of games.
2.  Kmic is one tough NUT.
3.  Garcon was fired up all day, almost to the point of getting a little TOO worked up at times, but dayum can that kid play!
4.  Jorris had a few "iffy" moments, but when you look at the final stats he played very well.
5.  Pentello has shut me up about him for good.  I said he couldn't play well in a big game, but he proved today that he was up to the task.  He's the real deal.

GREAT CROWD today at the game.  Mount fans were into the game almost immediately.

Congrats to CAP on a great season.  Be proud.

One last thing.  Note to the PAC officials.  Maybe......just maybe you could go to a ball-spotting class before next year.  It was a total joke.  Both ways!  CAP got screwed on a 3-1 that might have meant a touchdown instead of a field goal, and MOUNT got jobbed on a pass play down near the goal line when Casto caught the ball on the 5, gets pushed back and out of bounds, and they spot it on about the 8?

I can't WAIT for next week and ROWAN.  It 's been six years, and we owe them one.

Well said, as well as Skunk's post.  You brought some clarity to what I was listening to on the neutral D3Football.com webcast.
Again....  The blowout wasn't there today. Instead, there was a real slugfest, playoff game.

By the way... To whom do I write my tax deductable check in order to benefit the Wabash women's athletic program?  If I designate "Cheerleaders," will it really go to the football program???  Will Wittenberg really get a cut of it?????
Who opened this can of worms ?  Not me!!!

JK - there was pushing, shoving, fighting, and all kinds of bumping between receivers and D-backs all day.  Well....wait....evidently the Mount backs weren't doing enough of it considering the day your guy had.  I saw Garcon get interfered with at least three times, two of which he still caught the ball.

I would say the only questionable call other than the refs complete inability to spot the ball correctly was the "running into", instead of a "roughing" call against Mount on the one CAP punt.

By the way, can someone help me.  If a punt team guy shoves a blocker into the guy calling for a fair catch, shouldn't that be a penalty?  It wasn't called, Casto fumbled, and that was a HUGE turnover.  I don't really know the rule, but it seemed odd.

The best playoff game in quite a while ...Cap showed they had the horses to play with anyone, and I gotta respect Collins for an outstanding game plan.  Quick passes and Howe out and up...
Mount pass rush was key in the fourth qtr.  That #10 was unbelievable...I am told he transferred from who knows where, but at his last stop he had an NCAA record 400 plus yards receiving in one game, and, in track and field, won the national decathalon championship.  I don't doubt..what an athlete.  Rocky silenced many critics at MUC, and the Cap LB's were the best we have played against the run.  Physically punishing..Kmic took some BIG shots...

For those who wonder why Ibeh didn't get the ball, perhaps it is because he fumbled twice last week on contact that wasn't that solid...

Some great football, good contact, good fans, and what DIII playoffs should be.  Congrats on your great season, Crusaders, I just hope you didn't beat us up physically to the point it will make a difference next week.

Proud of the OAC

raiderpa

The only way to silence the NCAC vs OAC low blows are to got  on the schedule.   Mount has had to go to Wisconsin, Missouri, and next year must travel to Virginia to get an opening game...

I would love to see Wooster on our schedule...It used to be a great rivalry...

Wabash, Witt, Allegheny...get on your athletic administrators and let's get it done...I think the first week on the season with a NCAC/OAC schedule and rotating teams would be terrific....sort of like the ACC/Big Ten challenge, but in football....

First week every year, and rotate opponents

Mount vs Bash
Cap  vs Wooster
JCU vs Allegheny
BW vs WItt    etc etc...

usee

congrats to mount on a tough win against a worthy foe! also many props to capital for playing so well in the post season.

it is great to see so much parity in the region among the best teams! now muc, go bring the tropy back to the north where it belongs!

seventiesraider

Nobody wants to see us play Wooster and Witt again more than me, but nobody wants to see us play Oberlin and Hiram again less than me.

Go Whitewater
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Not to stir the pot, however...
Who is the OAC school that last lost a D3 playoff game to a non-OAC (MUC) team???

JK

Recce,

BW, two years ago with Larlham and LaBahn and the crew.

MUCFball

Wow, the Warhawks of Whitewater pulled it off! This makes things VERY interesting!

mtfan,

but the Cap announcers said on Garcon's second TD he pushed the Cap DB TO THE GROUND!  I will wait for others to comment on it that were there, but I still feel like a lot of the calls went MUC's way.  They always do, but they have earned that.  It is just something that you have always had to accept as an opponent in MUC stadium... MUC will get the benefit of the doubt on all calls.

I was there and yes Garcon did push the Cap DB to the ground, but only after he had caught the ball and was trying to make a move.  That is when he pushed the DB to the ground.  It was an outstanding catch and then a great offensive play.  If you ask mounts fans, most will say that the visiting team gets all the calls while mount gets screwed.  Just depends on the perspective.  Great game today.  Both teams were outstanding and it was a blast to watch.

Ajwassup

great game by both teams.  Most of us are not used to these close games, but this is the playoffs, so games should be close.  Everyone def got their money worth today.

Congrats to MUC, Rowan, Wesley, and UW-Whitewater to making it to the final four

GO RAIDERS!!!!

ACMob

May be the greatest day in D3 football ever!!

THANKS PAT & company!!

JK

mucraiders,

I  don't meant the long TD.  I mean the one he caught in the endzone.  I don't think he was trying to make a move then.

Just got home.  What a game today!

Capital - an impressive showing!  Congrats on a great season!  Both teams deserved to win today.

Now it's time for Rowin.  Revenge is sweet.  Raiders Reign!
12-0 = 13

Thoughts...

1) Congrats to Capital on a tremendous football game.  I have some really good friends associated with that program and school and they have a lot to be proud of.  One of the best games I have ever seen.  I've said it all year, I said it this week and I'll say it again.  Capital is the best team Mount played this year in my opinion.

2) The guy on the Capital radio crew that kept harping on Garcon pushing off according to JK should be ashamed of himself.  If it is anywhere as bad as JK made it sound that guy is an embarrasment to the profession.  The biggest thing I saw was that I didn't care for how they spotted the ball numerous times but I thought it was equally bad both ways.  But to harp on something nonexistent in that game is just wrong.  He had no business being in the booth.

3) I guess Linfield found out today just how tough it is to repeat.  Makes Mount's six out of seven all the more impressive.  The Raiders will be playing in their 11th consecutive semifinals next week.  How impressive is that?
