I'm already puking.  I think it should be a pre-requisite that you should at least be RANKED to play in the BCS.

What is the deal with Va Tech and Florida?  IS it a mental thing that they can't seem to win in the state?

Florida State should thank the ACC officials who set up the divisions, almost guranteeing them an ACC Championship game berth every year.  Damn the greedy bastards that, once they decided on Jacksonville as the site for the game, thought FSU-Miami in Jacksonville would make us the most money.  LEt's try to set that up.

Think Joe Pa, who is dying to regain some respect for PSU, will be thrilled about having to play either WVU, which is out of the worst conference, or FSU, which would be the BCS team with the worst record, ever?

Now, back to your regularly scheduled D3 coverage...

MUC-UWW in the stagg?

as a player, i have to say that i respect the mount players, but their fans bring the atmosphere down a level.  never heard a group of spectators like that before.  too bad the players don't have classy fans

The results for Round 3 and the spreads for Round 4 have been posted.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

OK, what was wrong with the Mount cheering today, I thought there was good cheering all around , except for some Cap fans (at least where i was sitting).  After Cap took their final lead in teh fourth qtr. , three Cap fans went into teh stands and starting arguing (bad cheering) with Moiunt fans.  It was like they thought the game was over.  It was sad.  They literally stood one row in fron of MUC fans and starting yelling obsenities agsainst us and put thier hands over their throats as to songal "choke".  I dont mind cheering, but to get into fans faces like they did was disrespectful.  I know that it was only three Cap fans, it ashame that some fans have to make every fan of that team look bad.  If any Mount fan did that i would be ashamed of that.

I assume it was the same three guys were runninbg in front
of the south end of the stands yelling, jeering and making hand gestures at the Mount fans. As long as Cap has been in hell can you blame them for being excited? Imagine how high that high was and how low they were after the final gun.

reality check

I think we can safely say that all teams have idiot fans and there were no shortage or absence of idiots in this game.  It happens.  Don't let a few jerks ruin the atmosphere and overall impression of a great game that was played between the posts in Alliance today.

Well I'm watching the replay and I've seen both of Garcon's touchdown's now for the third time (live, replay at the time and replay now) and I would stake everything I know on the game of football and Division III football that there was absolutely no pushing off by him on any play I've seen.  If those announcers whined about that I will say it again, they are an embarrassment to the profession and shouldn't be on the air.  Especially if the "stick this in your pipe and smoke it" comment was made.  That is just sad.

Ric

reality check, would love your take on Rowan.  Looking forward to next week.

Well said RC, I felt the fans for both schools were well into the game and for once the MOunt fans woke up knowing well they were in a dogfight for once. But as you stated there is always a few in every crowd the feel their "15 minutes of fame" is to be a total arse no matter how they go about it. I for one met a few Cap fans and congratulated them and the team for being a great group and having such a great season. Likewise both teams left it all on the field and at the end of the game they both showed great sportsmanship and comradary , well representative of their schools and the rivalry this OAC conference posesses.

I heard the game was televised on 55.  Anybody have a video tape of this game (or any recent Mount games)?  Since moving to the desert 3 years ago, I have only seen the two most recent Stagg's Mount participated in, and am really missing it.  I will be in VA this year, but would love to have a tape or two to watch during the winter and off season.

If you happen to have taped the game, please contact me or post something on this site.

Great game Mount and Cap.  Sounds like UWW/Linfield was every bit as exciting.

Man, I was really hoping for a Linfield-Mt.Union Stagg Bowl this year.

It would have been an honor to play against the Purple Raiders.  You're guy's tradition of winning is mind boggling.

In the future I want to fly out to a Mt. Union home game just to check out the team and the school.  I think it would be pretty sweet, I'm gonna have to do it.

Well, I know you guy's have to beat Rowan first, but I wanted to give you some advice on Whitewater.  Sqeeze the ball, they'll try to create to's every chance they get.  And, hold The Beaver under a hundred yards and you'll  have a great chance to win the game.  I know, nobody scares you guy's, your Mt. Union.
Just thought I would share.  Good luck the rest of the way.
