Wildcat I can tell you I ran into him at the hotel in Salem one Friday night before the game the next day. I was heading out and he was coming in.  I don't remember the year but I know it wasn't '93.  It was either '96 or '98.  Anyway it was as dark as can be out and he had the shades on.  So the answer to your question is, yes.

I have been nitpicking at every stat I can find about Rowan. MUC's past with them was before my time here but there are a lot of statistics in the here and now that support a solid team all around despite the injuries that have plagued these guys this season.  I would have to guess mentally, to have gotten this far, they resemble ONU. The best way to take any team out mentally is to inflict a significant amount of pain with a precise and quick score. I think this also relevant for getting some kind of momentum built up. Not only for this game, but to carry on thru to the next!  The other most significant aspect to fuel this? TURNOVER WINS        Since 1996 the Purple Raiders are 77-0 when winning the TURNOVER BATTLE!  Overall, since 1990, Mount Union is 121-1  when winning the TORNOVER Battles.    TURNOVER wins will WIN this GAME   IMO  ROLL~RAIDERS

I would counter the quick strike idea with the fact that Del Val outplayed them badly in the first half Saturday.  They went into halftime with a 14-0 lead that should have been at least 17-0 had it not been for a bad decision resulting in an INT in the Rowan endzone.  And the momentum could not have been more in Del Val's favor with the score making it 14-0 taking place on a 22 yard pass completion with 3 seconds left on the clock and no timeouts where the receiver leaped over/through two Prof defenders to score (consequently seperating his shoulder).  It was a terrific play and really made me think this was Del Val's game to win.

On a very odd note, I actually told Gordon (my webcast partner) off the air at halftime Saturday that this reminded me much of the ONU/MUC playoff game of 1999 when ONU felt like it had the mo and was leading 16-14.  The Bears went into the locker room in Alliance feeling very confident but it was the Raider second half adjustments that blew the game wide open.  And sure enough, Rowan does all the right things in the second half against Del Val and looked very much like the Raiders with their second half adjustments.  In 1999, Mount rolled off 28 third quarter points to take control of the game.  Last week Rowan ran off 27 unanswered points to take control.  I kinda scared myself when the game ended the way it did.  Although Rowan didn't pull away like MUC did to us in 1999, they still made the adjustments and turned the game around.
