It appears we owe Rowan a great debt of gratitude for saving us a trip to the Delaware Valley today. The snow that missed us, hit eastern Pa hard, dropping up to a foot of snow in the Delaware Water Gap.

MountFan08... Yes i was refering to #94 B-Wolfe.  He did cause much havic in the backfield when they switched to a 3-4 front.  It only took 2 snaps for Capital to adjust and he did not become a factor after that.   The tripple teams comes into effect when the guards do not have a blitz pick up and look to help someone else.  There was not any holding taking, but good try with the comment.

OU#25

There's holding by every team on about EVERY play.  FYI...  Teams attempt to perfect various techniques in order that the holding is not apparent to the officials.

OU #25  U are correct, but as long as the hand are inside the frame and the ref does not call it, who is to say holdng is taking place

I don't think these three words ever belong together  ;).

Good luck to both teams, I'm of course pulling for Mount, I would love to take a trip to VA after finals.

If a tree falls and no referees are around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Oh the referees have great ears.  THEY JUST DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO SEE!   ;D

Do we know what conference the refs are coming from this week?  I wonder if they took that CEU class this week called "How to correctly spot the football".

2minuteO-  Like it was said, there is holding on everyplay, but I ran out of fingers on how many times myself, and the  CAP fans next to me, counted  Buddy Wolf being taken down by the jersey, courtesy of the CAP Oline (I do not believe one was called.)

But I guess it is only a penalty if you get caught, or if the officials do not know their assignments.  For example, one would assume that the officials would know, that after a pass is thrown, and completed, that if a runner runs three yards, then the ball is coughed up, that would be a fumble. Or if a pass is made and the reception is out of bounds, it is a incompletion.  I hate to say it, but anybody in Alliance (and this counted for the great Capital fans next to me) who saw this game, understood that the crew on the game was utterly deficient in their knowledge of football.  I cannot tell you how many times I heard, "we gotta away with one there" on Saturday.

Now that I got that out, lets hope for a classic on Saturday, have a safe trip Prof fans and GO RAIDERS!!!

Has the baseball team started clearing the field? Do they use bats or gloves?

BTW-I'm sure that LK, the coaching staff and the entire team is taking this game far more seriously than most of us.

Not to defend officials for not making calls that seem obvious to fans but there is a big difference in what an official sees on the field opposed to what the fans see up in the stands. I can say this with a lot of confidence because i am a basketball official and have seen many times while watching a game from the stands calls that should have been made up were not.  What the fans see and what the officals can see is always much different.

Good luck to all the participants this weekend.  I wish Cap was there, but I guess I go with the next best thing...

Go MUC!

My predictions (for what they are worth):
MUC 31  ROW 24
UWW 35  WES 21

Hoping for an all purple Stagg Bowl (albeit not the purple I wanted)

I don't mean to sound stupid here but I was wondering what is the emblem on the top of the Mount jerseys? I was on the MUC website today and saw numbers on top of the jerseys from either the first of the year or last year but the pics from the playoffs show some emblem on top. Can some one please help me out.  ??? Enquireing minds want to know!

moe45daddy:
I agree some what with what you said but I feel the officiating in the playoff games I have seen has been somewhat how do I say it... BAD!!! Not that I think any of the games I have seen (Wabash fans may not agree) were decided by the calls but the spotting of the ball has been iffy. I just don't think we are getting the best officials in the playoffs.

Good luck Mighty Purple Raiders

The emblem on top of Mount's black jerseys is essentialy a purple circle with the Raiders logo in white on the inside of it.  It's the same logo that shows up on the OAC website and through this link: http://www.muc.edu/media/image_folder/athletic_photos/mascot_and_logos/raiders_color_jpg__1

As far as the holding issue is concerned, I'm pretty sure there was some holding of Buddy Wolf going on last Saturday.  I was standing on the sidelines and I thought I saw holding.  But my opinion doesn't matter, it's the officials that count and they obviously didn't think there was holding.  There's nothing that they can do about it now and it's not like any no calls cost Mount the game.  It was still a great game by both teams and perhaps the officials were just letting the players determine the game instead of penalties being a major factor.  You always here the people on TV talk about that during the NFL playoffs.  Maybe that's what these officials were doing.  And for that, I give them some credit.
The impossible CAN happen and eventually it WILL happen.
