Mr. Ypsi,

We knew all about GVSU as one of our regulars (4u) had a cousin named Kircus who happened to be a pretty good receiver there a few years back.

By the way, I know Kircus isn't there anymore, but I am still suprised 4u didn't even mention the DII game.

Yep, David Kircus now plays for the Lions (but don't hold that against him)! :-[

"Cap99fan next year's Mount Union - Capital game is at Mount Union.  So you can go unbeaten at home without beating the Purple Raiders. ;)

Here's a link to the OAC future schedule page:

Man looking at your schedule you should go unbeaten at home.  You have Mount Union, Ohio Northern, John Carroll and Baldwin-Wallace all on the road.  Who did you guys piss off?"

I don't think we pissed off anyone, I just think they want to see if we are as good as we seemed to be this year.

Thanks for the information I just assumed that since we played Mount at Mount this year we would be at home next year. If we make the playoffs next year we will really deserve it! ;)

I had been looking for the schedule but couldn't find it. I guess I should have asked one of you fine posters for the schedule :)

Unfortunately, Kircus was released on September 3 of this season.  He was one of the final cuts for the Lions.  Maybe 4u has some info on what he is doing these days.  I would appreciate an update and I am sure that others might be curious.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

On the OAC schedule issue:

I know they readjust the schedules every couple of years.  I get moving around the dates, etc.

What I never understood was why they couldn't move dates without messing with the "Home-Away" rotation.

Undoubtedly, since Cap goes to Alliance again next year they will host someone they hosted this year (I don't know who, I haven't checked yet).  Likewise MUC will travel somplace next year that they travelled to this year.

What is the point?  Seems like a lot of work for not much in the way of results.

Not to mention it is really unfair.

Grand Valley is indeed a great team.  However, they were very lucky to win their 3rd championship last night.  They almost picked the wrong time to have their "worst game" of the season.  NWMS played well too.  Yet, it just shows how good GVSU was as they did not give up.  It was an exciting title game to watch, especially being from Michigan and also that several GVSU players were from my old high school and a rival.  Anyway, congrats to them.

BTW, some of you might recall that they lost the 2001 DII title on the last play of the game; they won the 2002 and 2003 titles as well, but were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the playoffs last year in 2004.

I confess that I didn't even know that - the Pussycats have become such a pathetic joke, that I simply don't even follow them.  Nearly all knowlege of the Lions comes from my 13-year-old son, who hasn't learned any better yet!

Considering the troubles they have had at wide-out, I suspect that releasing him was ANOTHER mistake they made.  For anyone who hasn't understood the gist of my post, THE LIONS SUCK!!

Early forcast is 48 and partly cloudy.  Summer in Wisc.

JK I agree it makes no sense and is very unfair.  And stupid.

Ric,

I think we both left off the most appropriate description:

UNNECESSARY.

Scheduling...

Personally, I think having BW/JCU as the last game of the season is perfect.  I don't know why you would want to change that.  Rivalries should always be the last game.

I also echo the sentiments of those questioning the "home/away change."  If there were any logical reasoning behind it, I'd be interested to hear it.

its gonna be an interesting match up with the Purple Raiders running game against the WW front 7.

Also you guys have been to Salem before any good places to go the night before the game

Toph,
Rivalries should be the last game, unless you're Mount Union playing Heidi.  Then it's a light week before the playoffs.  ::)

Toph,

Back when I was in school, the last game was your closest geographical "rival" such as JCU/BW, CAP/OTT, MUSK/MAR, ONU/HEID, MUC/HIR.  The first three, arguably, are fairly legitimate rivalries.  The last two were only "rivalries" because of proximity.

I DO agree that the last week of the season should be for rivalries, but isn't the biggest rivalry (at least the most historic rivalry) in the OAC MUC/BW?

I guess there is a pretty decent rivalry brewing between MUC and ONU.  How's this proposal for week 10:

JCU/BW, CAP/OTT, MUSK/MAR, MUC/ONU, and HEI/WIL?

That's intriguing...

I think it will be lower scoing, 30-7 or 24-7 or something like that.  Rowan is pretty good defensively.

mtfan -- haven't heard from you since Saturday -- how'd you like my above prediction for you last week? ;)
