The only time seating was even close to an issue was during the Mount/Bridgewater game.  That had everything going for it, and other than having to sit across from the Mount bench (with those pesky, but NICE Bridgewater guys), I don't think anyone got shut out.  I doubt if there will be that many there this weekend.  The trip takes 6 hours from Canton if you hustle.

Of course, Mount will travel extremely well.   :)  I don't know why we Mount fans are bothering, but I guess we all just want to see the "real" Stagg Bowl winner in person.  It will be a great honor just to be in physical proximity to the team that beat the TEAM.   ::)

If I recall, the Linfield faithful were blowing this same horn when SJU beat them in '03.  They were claiming that they were the second best team in the nation because they gave the SUJIES a better game than Mount did.   ???  West coast thinking at its finest.

70's,

Looked for you at the brunch, but didn't see you.  Was trying to connect with as many PP Mount people as possible.

Ran into Sue... she can't post from work anymore but still reads PP.

Well, I guess that nice lady in Salem put one over on me.

My maping software says 7:02 to Roanoke from Canton.  That would make it a little under 7 hours to Salem.  The software assumes you drive the speed limit.

Mapquest routes you the correct way, getting off I-77 in Princeton WV and going through (around) Blacksburg VA and Christiansburg VA. The other services route you clear down to Wytheville (Pronounced Withvull) VA an easy 70 miles out of your way. Hence 6 or so hours. Yahoo routes the correct way but seems to calculate "wife and kids" time.

My wife just promised me ( since I just got back from Houston) that if I stay home this weekend, she'll rent me a big screen and pay for air travel, hotel and drinks for the next 2 years to Salem     God I'm going to miss her this weekend  8);ROLL~~RAIDERS

E_Lee You want to come to Ohio and cover my coaching responsibilities on Saturday.  ;D Luckily all anybody in Mogadore wanted to know was when I was leaving for the game.

I think if I was in Florida I would stay. I could use some warm temps. I might make the trip to support the Mighty Purple Raider and the OAC in this one. If I drive over without tickest will there be a problem getting tickets? Won't know till late if I can make it. Maybe not even till Friday.

tickets will NOT be a problem at the gate on game day.  I've been to 7 of their 8 Stagg Bowls and tickets were never a problem.   And with a Wisc team playing, I'd be surprised if they fill up more than 1/4 of their side.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Kirasdad-- I say you gets your A$$ up here to Ocala and we road trip our collective A$$es to Salem, watch the the boys raise the Walnut and Bronze  ;D and take turns driving home!

I seriously thought about it, but we are closing on our house next week and I have to get my a$$ moved out this weekend. I really think my wife would kill me if I went to the game this weekend. :)

I say you take your wife up on the offer. You still have 2 more years to go to watch Jr. right?

kirasdad and hscoach:
I know what you mean about $ and time for the trip.  I've been to 3 Stagg Bowls, including the great Mount/Bridgewater game and again last year.  I was all set to go this year (and was hoping to get a group of D3 posting fans together to go) until some unexpected things came up here, so like you guys, I had to cancel out, but so did everyone else.  It wil be a very good bowl game this year I believe; like some of your colleagues, I think it will be a close one - not a blow out by anyone.

I would only add that you might be surprised to see how many WW fans show up.  They have a big following I understand.  Last year's MHB from Texas had quite a contingent - much more than many people thought.  So if the Texans brought that many as they did last year (even though the total attendence was in the 3000's), I would not be surprised to see more than the 1/4 stadium full from WW that you predict.  We'll find out Sat of course.  Like you though, I will be watching it in the comfort of inside, yet I do hope and wish good weather for those and your colleagues who attend in person.  The last two times I went, the weather was unbelievable for the weekend before Christmans - no clouds, sunny and in the mid -60's. :)

Kirasdad-- Your probably right  >:( and I can't really afford another divorce :-\  Like formerd3db said, I have the feeling this game is going to be real close and a nail biter!   The other thing is after all those road trips from FL to Mount last year, I just always wondered would it would be like to exit off in Virginia as opposed to driving all the way to Alliance ;)

rscl and seventies:
That sounds about right.  We are about 4 hours to Cleveleand and about 4 1/2 - 5 (depending on traffic) to the Canton/Bolivar, OH area.  It took about 12 hours driving last year. taking the route you outline.  Anyway, safe travels to you all.  Hope the roads are clear.

In my book, there are a few too many pansies out there when it comes to road trips.  I have not missed a Stagg yet, and have had to fly in from Seattle, WA (2000), and Albuquerque, NM (2001, 2002), and Abq again via Buffalo, NY (then driving from Buf to Salem, then driving on to FL, then back to Abq in time for Christmas), this year.

If you are a Raider fan, you gotta be there.

I don't know anyhting about UWW (other than what I have read).  I hope they are as good as billed.  I would love to see another game the likes of the 93, 96 or 98 championship games.  MUC comes in as underdogs, and pours it on in the second half for the W.

Don't know LK's plans on play calling, but if he takes the helm this Sat, Mount will not lose.  Sorry YouDub, get ready for the long ride home.

Dale,

Sorry I am a pansie, but I don't own my own company and can't take off this weekend. :)

Despite what the ticket office tells there is a section that they consider to be for local Salem/Roanoke people and there is also no end to the room on that hillside on the south end. Don't anybody stay home because they think they won't get in because they will. Also if Mount Union had tickets on Saturday I'm sure Rowan and Wesley had some as well. Come to the game and you'll find a away in. Let's pack the place.

The thing is the tickets that Rowan or Wesley had are the same ones that Mount and Wisconsin Whitewater sold.  They just bring the tickets to the semi-final playoff sites.
But I am with everybody else that there will be lots of tickets, however the two sides do not have an equal number of seats and MUC was assigned the smaller side.  I picked upmy tickets after the game on Saturday.  I was one of the last ones to get tickets and I would guess the MUC side was about half sold.  But there is more danger of that side selling out than the other.  It probably holds five times as many.  If you do not get your tickets early you might have to sit on the WW side.

See you all in Salem!

Go Mount!
