If Whitewater beats Mount by 30, I'll be stunned.  Whitewater drowns in this one,

Is it really that hard to understand that you're in the OAC board and the prediction from OAC/MUC fans is that Mount wins?  Whoever has the Mr. Obvious trophy, I believe you have been dethroned.

Everyone

I am hoping for a classic Stagg Bowl but let's look at the facts real quick since some out there seem to think that the champion has already been crowned and the real Stagg was two weeks ago.  Thanks for the tale of the tape Ric!

Scoring for: edge to UWW
Scoring against: edge to MUC
Total Offense: edge to MUC
Average per play: edge to MUC
Total Yards: edge to MUC
Rushing Yards: edge to MUC
Average per rush: edge to MUC
Rushing TD's: edge to MUC
Passing Yards: edge to MUC
Average per catch: edge to UWW                    (I see a lot of MUC's in this list)
Passing TD's: push
Total TD's: edge to UWW
FG's made: edge to MUC
Turnover Margin: edge to UWW
3rd down conversions: edge to MUC
4th down conversions: edge to MUC
Kick Return Average: edge to MUC
Punt Return Average: edge to UWW

The point of this little exercise is to show that as good as UWW is, and I respect them a great deal, that Mount Union is still very much for real.  I know none of this list will do anything come kickoff, it does show that despite the amazing accomplishments that have taken place in Whitewater this season, Mount Union is no slouch.

I still go back to someone that posted about how great the Warhawk attack is this season.  They quickly remarked how balanced this offense is and that perhaps a more balanced offense has never existed.  I wonder what it feels like to brag about how great your team is only to have someone show you comparitive stats.  To reitterate:

Beavers: 2295 yards, 23 TD's, 5.8 per carry
Robinson/Kmic: 2080 yards, 25 TD's, 5.9 per carry

Jacobs: 3246 yards, 33 TD's, 15 INT's, 52.1% completion
Jorris: 3490 yards, 33 TD's, 10 INT's, 66.6% completion

Leszczynski/Stanley: 2353 yards, 27 TD's, 168.1 per game average
Casto/Garcon: 2303 yards, 25 TD's, 185.7 per game average

Conclusion: Well I don't want to be biased and say what I really see after reading these statistics. You can do that for yourself.  Don't you just hate it when the facts get in the way of a theory?!?

I just have an odd quick question for the MUC faithful.  Have the Raiders ever won the National Champ. with a regular season loss? Or have they always gone into the Stagg Bowl undefeated?  I'm just curious!

GO RAIDERS!   ;D  (I only say that once a year... being from Bridgewater College.. well twice this year since you all played Rowan!  ;)

Nope, every other year they have been unbeaten. This is the first year we have made the playoffs with a Loss since 1994. We were 9-1 in the regular season. Beat Allegheny in the first round and then lost to Albion in the second round.

Man Ric, you have everything on your website!!!  ;D

But...but...but.....RC!

Those stats are skewed BIG TIME!

Remember, Mount played nothing but patsies, losers, and bad, NON-WEST teams!   ;D  And shoot, they LOST to one of those teams.

As I said earlier, it will just be an honor to get to watch the Raiders against that great WESTERN juggernaut.  We are truly blessed.   ;)

Not sure if anyone is still debating whether to make the trip due to ticket concerns, but let me say it again.  THE STADIUM WILL NOT BE SOLD OUT.  Not even the MUC/Bwater game was sold out.

Actually, that game was sold out.

Thanks for the Stats comparison between the two teams.  I've been saying that the statisical matchup looks good.  I've also been critical of predictions of a low scoring game.  It has been my observation this year (granted on the West side of things) that when great teams like these meet, the offenses seem to hold the advantage.  However, I must note that MUC has been able to win with Defense (certainly did last week).  However, I think that this game will be a shootout.  Both Teams can Run and Pass which makes it hard to shut them down.  Also, both teams play hard defense and force turnovers which in my observation, actually causes more points to be scored (Defensive TDs or TDs off of good field position following turnovers).  That being said, I predict a relatively high scoring game (minimum of 55 points combined and wouldn't be suprised if we 60-70) with the winning team having less turnovers and fewer penalties.  I look forward to watching it and hope that both teams put on a show.  I'm a Linfield fan but even though we lost the game to UWW I think it was the very best game I've ever listened to (couldn't make the trip) because it was so competitive.  Best luck to MUC and UWW----make it fun for the viewers and bring home some increased attention for the D3!!!!
Go Cats!

kirasdad, thx, there is one thing I don't have but will come Saturday....

NCAA Division III National Champions... again!

That Final Countdown music will sound good reading that! ;)

Congrats to BW's Ryan Lewis and ONU's Wes Hostetler who will be the OAC's only representatives in this year's Aztec Bowl.  Also coaching in the Aztec Bowl will be legendary BW coach Bob Packard and former ONU/OTT coach Wally Hood.  Best of luck to the OAC reps.

Rusty Midlam didn't get the vote for the Aztec bowl?  That suprises me.

Anyways, where can I find the list of Aztec Bowl nominees?

Reality Check,

A few more stats now on the defensive side.

Scoring  Defense - MUC
Yards Allowed - Game - MUC
Yards Allowed/Play - MUC
Rush TDs - MUC
Rushing Yard/Play - MUC
Passing Yards Play _MUC
Passing TD's Allowed - MUC
Fumbles caused and Recovered - WW
INT's - WW
Sacks - MUC

So other than turnovers we also dominate these stats as well.  OF course stats mean nothing on Saturday.  They caused 3 turnovers for ever 2 we caused.  We committed two more turnovers than they did.

Not sure how the OAC Defensive Player of the Year Kyle Hausler didn't make it either ???. I am not taking anything away from the two OAC players that made it because they are both outstanding players. Do they only take so many from each conference ???

Anyway GOOD LUCK MOUNT!
