Apparently even the most light-hearted posts suggesting that the Warhawks MAY lose will hurt one's karma.

How about one that says it's absurd to think that Whitewater even has a chance.

You know my brother used to say I was the kind of guy who liked to find a smoldering ember and blow on it to see what would happen.

How about this: Maybe Linfield really isn't all that good after all.  I mean Whitewater beat the 2005 Linfield team not the 2004 Linfield team.

My work here is done. Off to bed. ::)

I just got done reading the comments each coach made during the telephone interview via Ric's site (thanks Rick).  I don't know how many know this story, but it's a good one.

It seems the first anyone from the Mount staff ever heard of Pierre Garcon was via email.  Evidently,  Garcon decided he wanted to transfer to Mount Union.  LK didn't really know the kid from Adam, and had one of the assistants follow up with him originally via email back.  Pierre was persistant, and the assistant (Candle) kept in touch, and Garcon ends up at Mount.

At the beginning of camp, one of the first things the players do is run a series of 100's.  After about the third one, LK turned to his assistants and said, "hmmm...looks like we have a starting wide receiver."   :)

I would guess if the weather is decent, we will see Garcon streaking by a few defenders.  What really impresses me about this kid (and all the Mount receivers), is how he gets down the field and blocks on running plays.  I think that is why he gets so many cheap shots.  He flies by you one play, and knocks your head off the next.  D-backs just HATE that!   ;D

Garcon is a great talent but Whitewater appears to have a heckuva burner in Stanley as well.  One of the Warhawk faithful touts him as a sub 4.3 guy (make your own judgements there) but Pat has confirmed that he is blazing fast.  It should be a great matchup at the WR/DB positions in Salem.  On one side, you have Stanley, who is supposed to be one of the quickest in D-III and he's opposed by a first team All-American in Watson.

Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

HScoach

Lord knows, we're all about "cute" on the OAC page.  Now if we could only learn to play football as good as the west. ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Olinemom-- As long as your not a man in a dress serving brownies it's all good to me ;)

Why b4, is that going to be your outfit?  Don't want to mix you two up, huh?

Go Hawks!  Good luck to both teams.  May the best (winged) team win.

"This is the 2005 Mount Union team against 2005 Whitewater," said Berezowitz

Whose got the Mr. Obvious trophy? I shouldn't want him to go home empty handed :P

What is frightening to me about the Garcon story is that Jason Candle, who I remember as "the seventh grader down the street" is calling someone "a kid."  ;D

Reality Check,

A few more stats now on the defensive side.

Scoring  Defense - MUC
Yards Allowed - Game - MUC
Yards Allowed/Play - MUC
Rush TDs - MUC
Rushing Yard/Play - MUC
Passing Yards Play _MUC
Passing TD's Allowed - MUC
Fumbles caused and Recovered - WW
INT's - WW
Sacks - MUC

So other than turnovers we also dominate these stats as well.  OF course stats mean nothing on Saturday.  They caused 3 turnovers for ever 2 we caused.  We committed two more turnovers than they did.

MCU wins the defensive stats.    So did St.John's.  Ranked 3rd in the nation at the time they played WW.    How did that work for them?

b4uknewit

wiacfbgrad-- In reply I'll quote my friends from Wooster...."it's a kilt damn it" we don't wear dresses ;)  Props to oline mom!   my wife is one as well,  her specialty is meatloaf :)

Weather in Salem, Saturday...

Predicted partly cloudy with temps in the hi 20's - lo 30's
so much for a warm weather site...

still cannot match '93 blizzard like conditions, and I forget which year it was, but the punters in pregame were punting from the left hash mark, and the ball was blowing out of bounds on the opposite side of the field.....incredible...
