Just thought I'd pass this along -- Mount Union freshman Nate Kmic needs 143 rushing yards Saturday to break the rushing yards mark in a Division III tourney which is now held by former Raider Chuck Moore (2001).  And Kmic didn't get his first carry in the first playoff game until Mount's fourth possession.

Boy do I remember him in the Stagg Bowl 2001.  I can see him running forthat touchdown with nobody touching him.  Oh wel . . . . .He sure was good!

Mom-That useless week between Christmas and New Years is for grading papers. I'll be giving quizes and showing videos the rest of this week and monitoring them over my display. I think we need to print B4's songs off. Kevin and I could lead the parking lot song fest. I'll be the 50-ish bald guy with the purple Mount Union #66 practice jersey with an eigth year old boy in a white Mount Union practice jersey. It's his third Stagg Bowl, my sixth.

I say let's do it.  Bring those words.  Let's enjoy the festivities to the fullest!!  This will only be my second Stagg Bowl, because my *&^*&%^& surgeon wouldn't postpone my surgery back in 2001.  It was on Dec. 10 and that was that >:( >:(.  So I missed my Jake playing in his last game.  Looking forward to Saturday!
And unfortunately our grades are due Friday, 12/16 at noon.  Boo!! Hiss!!

Seventies and all you other teacher types out there...

I wish I could grade papers over the break.  This is UK finals week.  I give my last final Friday at 10:30am-12:30pm.  My grades are due Friday by 5pm.  My final is 75 questions and 10 points.  Plus I have several students turning in 3-10 page "bonus" research papers that have to be graded and calculated as part of thier scores.

This "college Professor" thing sucks.  But I guess it is better than getting shot at in Iraq somewhere, which is probably where I would be if I wasn't here.

Good luck to all this weekend.  Looking forward to the trophy coming back to OAC land.

JK,

Man, you have a dysfunctional college administration!  I thought E. Michigan had a near-monopoly on that, but at least grades are NEVER due less than 2 days after the last final! (Any finals even later than yours?  They have perhaps half an hour to grade and compute?)  Has the administration outlawed essay exams in order to make this 'system' work?  My condolences to you!

'College Professor' is actually one of the all-time great jobs (though as a college 'lecturer' for the last 32 years I know that only PARTIALLY by first-hand experience!) - it's true that us competent ones work an average of perhaps 50 hours a week, but MOST of those hours are at OUR choosing.  I'm only REQUIRED to be on campus about 20 hours a week (which, as a practical matter, usually means at least 30 hours a week) - the rest can be at 9am, 5pm, or 1am.

b4,
I was reading your Leave it to Beaver episode out load to my significant other and when we got to the part about Olinemom's special brownies, we both laughed so hard we almost split a gut.  That was definitely right up there with Hall of Fame posts like a pile of BW.   Classic, really classic.

Olinemom,
After reading your brownie description the other day, thinking about all that sugar made me feel like I needed a test for diabetes.

awesome!!  ;D  that's a take!! ROLL RAIDERS!!
maybe you want to republish the 12 days of christmas, lol

Unless I am wrong, and I could be, when Chuck set the record in 2001, it was in only 4 games as Mount had a first round bye.  Therefore, even if Kmic had limited duty in game 1 this year, those were all bonus carries if trying to compare on an even basis (5 playoff games this year).

Either way, hats off to Kmic.

UDub - the bell tolls...

You're right, it's a great job!! It allows one to enjoy fantastic football in the fall, basketball in the winter and baseball in the spring.  I'm sure there are other sports, but not on my agenda.  However, exams in the same week as the Stagg Bowl has me burning the candle at both ends.  And yes, my French kids all have essays(compositions),  even the beginners.  It is a great idea until I have to sit down and deal with the aftermath, but I just can't do the computer thing.  I just can't do it.  So, I'l have dark circles to go with my costume for Saturday.  And then we have the lovely (NOT) January term which begins on the 3rd, I have 27 for a literature course.  I think I have maybe 5 students who are not either football or baseball players (at times, it doesn't pay to be the OLinemom or the Baseball Mom) and 2 of the 5 get to leave early to go and do their first responder gig at the Hula Bowl in Hawaii with Brett while the rest of us freeze in Winter.  But for the last 23 years at BC, it's been a great job, especially these last 6 years when football has come alive!

PS by definition aren't all college administrations dysfunctional? Ever since I was in college (the 60's,dare I say that), everywhere I've been, that has always seemed to be the case ;D ;D ;D

I just make them.  I don't usually eat them.  Youngsters who have played a long, hard game can take the brownies just fine.  It's those of us who are slightly longer in the tooth that tend to need to be more careful.  But not on a holiday.  After all the Stagg Bowl is the holiday between Thanksgiving and Christmas, no?  Everybody gets dressed up in costumes, there's singing and carousing and football.  Speeches on Thursday evening at the banquet.  It must be a holiday.   It has all the trappings.  It has THE SONG that begins the game every year:  TRADITION!!!  Friendly but stiff competition.  Adoring fans, gee, oh yes--family get-togethers, for instance, Stone Station, the Raider Nation, the Warhawk Nation, at least this year, other groups other years.  Yes it is definitely a holiday.  Now we just need to get George W to declare it.  He's good at declaring, isn't he? ;D :o ::) ;)

True, but no playoff bye for Kmic so he actually has more playoff games to play in than Moore.

Playing 5 more games than Dante isn't stopping the WWW folks from proclaiming Leave it to Beaver as the best RB in the history of D3.   ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Ric

Pat -- there's nothing fair about the way the NCAA has decided to keep stats or Moore would have many more Mount Union and national records.

HSCoach,

Actually it was Pat Coleman that first brought the Justin Beaver potential all-time rushing record up, not the WW fans.  Beaver himself is downplaying the whole scenario, as he has all his other records this year.  If you read any newspaper story that has been written about him, he gives the credit to his success to his former Palmyra-Eagle running back mate, Travis Reuland and the Hawks offensive line.

Also, while I'm on a roll. When UWW played Mount at Whitewater in 2002, the Warhawks wore their black jersey's with purple and white numbers.  It led to a series of negative posts from Mount fans claiming WW copied MUC with uniforms identical to the Purple Raiders.

Just to set the record straight, WW had those uniforms a full year ahead of MUC.

I actually think it was one of the WW fans who posted in on their board first and then Pat checked up on the numbers.
